The following passages are from John 4 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. 8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) 9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. 10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
Why didn’t Jesus answer the Samaritan woman’s question?
Why did instead use answer with an educational statement?
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. 16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
She still does not seem to understand what he is talking about but Jesus acts as if she does and perhaps she is beginning to as the signs she believes get more obvious in the following verses.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? 12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? 13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14 but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
Once again he does not answer her question but continues in his attempt to educate her.

He discerned that her motives were negative and she was wanting a political argument.
December 14, 2015 at 5:11 pm#806120NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
She was into accusing Jesus of contravening his customs and then suggested Jacob was greater than he.
Ignoring her words unlike the way he dealt with the Pharisees he taught her deep spiritual truths.
December 14, 2015 at 8:22 pm#806121kerwinParticipantNick,
It is my thought that he also ignored the words of the unbelievers in John 8:57 when he revealed that he was the Christ in John 8:58.
December 15, 2015 at 2:14 pm#806134NickHassanParticipanthi KW,
And he demonstrated what Peter spoke about in 1 Peter 3.15 and Paul in Col 4.6
December 15, 2015 at 2:46 pm#806136kerwinParticipantNick,
The Law was written in him and on his heart by the Spirit and so he knew how to answer every man.

Nick,
It is my thought that he also ignored the words of the unbelievers in John 8:57 when he revealed that he was the Christ in John 8:58.
I just wanted to make sure you saw this since it was inspired by a conversation I had with you.

Yes.
Teach instead of engaging in combat at a human level
December 18, 2015 at 5:19 pm#806255kerwinParticipantNick,
I prefer the word share as I am not yet fully qualified to be a teacher.
December 18, 2015 at 6:12 pm#806257NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Yes.
But Jesus was.
December 18, 2015 at 6:27 pm#806258kerwinParticipantNick,
That is true.
December 26, 2015 at 2:13 am#806527942767ParticipantHi KW:
Jesus did answer her, by saying but “you don’t know who I am”, and she would later understand what he was saying:
John 4:
19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”
21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”
December 26, 2015 at 7:20 am#806534kerwinParticipant942767,
Jesus not answer her question though he used her words and the situation in general as a teaching moment.
December 26, 2015 at 9:29 am#806542NickHassanParticipantHi 94,
Having stated that Jesus was a prophet she did not respect him as she should have.
Instead she tried to increase confusion and division between the Jews and the Samaritans.
He ignored her tack and taught her deeper things about true worship of the Father in human temples
December 29, 2015 at 1:20 pm#806691AndrewADParticipantHe ignored her questions because she was a stupid sinner which is why he ignores most of our questions too. But fear not for he accepts us even as he accepted her.
December 29, 2015 at 2:55 pm#806701kerwinParticipantAndrewAd,
Are you taking the form of a mocker?
December 30, 2015 at 2:43 pm#806732AndrewADParticipantDear Kerwin,
I meant no form of mockery and apologize for using crude language.I suppose i could’ve used a better word than stupid such as ignorant.I do think your question is a good one and I sought for an answer. I may have answered it stupidly but I must admit I kind of like my answer and it makes much sense to me,at least.
All blessings to you, yours, and all of Heaven.Net !

February 19, 2016 at 5:20 pm#809338AndrewADParticipantKerwin,
“Bump because I stumbled across it at take as a sign. ”
And just what are you trying to say here? is it just another sign of your ignorance?
February 19, 2016 at 5:42 pm#809340kerwinParticipantAndrewAD.
You can take it like you wish. I am not the one you have to account to.
