when I say I'm a Christian..

Hi everyone
Just popped in to give you this, it was sent to me and I want to share it here with you.

WHEN I SAY I AM A CHRISTIAN

When I say “I am a Christian”
I'm not shouting “I'm clean living”.
I'm whispering “I was lost”,
Now I'm found and forgiven.

“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit. Let all bitterness, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you and all malice.” Eph 4:29-31
“Keep Yourself PURE!” 1Tim 5:22
“Be DILIGENT to be found by HIM in peace WITHOUT Spot and BLAMELESS!” 2Pet 3:14

When I say “I am a Christian”
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need CHRIST to be my guide.

“Let him show by GOOD CONDUCT that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.” James 3:13
“But the wisdom that is from above is first PURE, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.” James 3:17

When I say “I am a Christian”
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
and need HIS strength to carry on.

“Be STRONG in the Lord and the POWER of HIS Might! Put on the whole armor of God!” Eph 6:10-11
“WATCH, STAND FAST in the Faith, be BRAVE, be STRONG!” 1Cor15:13
“Make every effort to enter through the Straight Gate!” Luke 13:24
“Be Dressed and Ready for Service and KEEP your lamps burning!” Luke 12:35
“Make every effort to ADD to your faith!” 2Pet 1:5
“Prepare your Minds for ACTION!” 1Pet 1:13

When I say “I am a Christian”
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
and need God to clean my mess.

“For whatever is BORN of God OVERCOMES the world!” 1John 5:4
“We know that whoever is born of God DOES NOT SIN, but he who has been born of God KEEPS HIMSELF and the wicked one touches him not!” 1John5:18
“KEEP Yourselves in the Love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life!” Jude 21
“ARM yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin.” 1Pet 4:1
“By which we have been given exceedingly great and precious promises that through these you may be partakers of the Divine Nature and ESCAPE the corruption that is in the world through lust!” 2Pet 1:4

When I say “I am a Christian”
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
but, God believes I am worth it.

“Be PERFECT as your Heavenly Father is Perfect!” Matt 5:48
“Study to Show yourself approved unto God, workmen that need not be ashamed!” 2Tim 2:15
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be PERFECT and thoroughly equipped for every good work!” 2Tim 3:16-17
“By WORKS Faith is made PERFECT!” James 2:22
“Let Steadfast endurance have its perfect work that you may be PERFECT and complete lacking nothing!” Jas1:4

When I say “I am a Christian”
I still feel the sting of pain,
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

“I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me.” Phil 4:13
“When I am weak, then I am STRONG!” 2Cor 12:10
“Walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.. Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious Power, for all steadfast endurance and longsuffering with Joy!” Col 1:10-11

When I say “I am a Christian”
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
who received God's good grace, somehow.

“Be HOLY in ALL your Conduct!” 1Pet 1:15
“Pursue Peace with all men and HOLINESS, without which NO ONE will see the Lord!” Heb 12:14
“That we may serve HIM without fear in HOLINESS and Righteousness before Him all the days of our life!” Luke 1:75
“So that He may establish your hearts blameless in HOLINESS before God at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.” 1Thess3:13
“For God did not call us to uncleanness but in HOLINESS!” 1Thess 4:8
“Who saved us and called us with a HOLY Calling!” 2Tim 1:9

An interesting perspective about the “Church” from a writer named Carridine:
“There was a time I thought of the church robed in spotless white, and moving through the nations with uplifted, transfigured countenance, love in her eyes, the perfume of holiness about her person, and scattering blessing constantly from her hand. But there is a sad change. There have been thoughtless hands who have stripped her of her spiritual glory, and otherwise altered her, so that she either stands posing before the world in the tinsel attire and half-learned attitudes of a second-rate theater; or she moves through the land with the rumpled, frowsy, heated, greasy appearance of the kitchen, and distributing from her garments the smell of poorly-fried oysters and mildewed chicken salad wherever she goes.”

There we have it. The Devils guide to defeat and ruin and a sad commentary from another grieving soul for the rape of the Bride. Saints, keep the armor on. It's raining Posers and delusion everywhere now. Stay on that narrow way. Accept no substitutes for the Truth. Desire it, seek it, LOVE it! And please read your Bibles! It's way out of hand out there.

Hi Debra I never seen your Pasts, I really appreciated this. I have been struggling on this Website ever since I Posted on the Covenants. Yes we all need God and without God's Holy Spirit we could understand nothing. Thank you too for sharing
