Jesus called Peter Satan, do you know that?  Satan was inside of Peter at  that time and that is why Jesus called Him Satan.  We too sometimes let Satan enter ouir minds, and don't even know that we do that.  He is very cunning.  So watch out for that being………..
    Irene

So you are telling us that we should FEAR this “Satan being” because he has the supernatural powers to influence us and inflict us?

IMO doing such is worshiping a false god. When you give YHVH's powers over to another creature and FEAR that creature, that is equal to the FALSE worship YHVH warned us about in the OT.

    ———————————————————
Matthew 16:23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

So Irene, you believe that it takes a fallen angel to make us think like men? Huh?

Do fallen angels cause us to have a sinful nature? The following says that the LAW arouses our sinful nature.

Ro 7:5 For when we were controlled by the sinful nature, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies, so that we bore fruit for death.

Romans 7:8 But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead.

Ro 8:8 Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.

Ro 8:9 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.

Ro 8:13 For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live,

Can't you see Irene that it is our own sinful nature that is our adversary? Peter had in mind the things of men because he was following after his own sinful nature NOT because he was following influences of an invisible monster.

    Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

Proverbs 14:14 The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways, But a good man will be satisfied from above.

Proverbs 18:2 A fool has no delight in understanding, But in expressing his own heart.

Proverbs 28:26 He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But whoever walks wisely will be delivered.

Jeremiah 16:12 And you have done worse than your fathers, for behold, each one follows the dictates of his own evil heart, so that no one listens to Me.

Jeremiah 18:12 And they said, “That is hopeless! So we will walk according to our own plans, and we will every one obey the dictates of his evil heart.”

There is NOT one scripture that warns us to not follow after fallen angels that like to possess our minds and influence our thoughts. However there are many more scriptures then what is listed above, that directly tell us that our sins come from our OWN understanding.

    hi

Ge 3:5 “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

this is what satan trough the serpent give the human race;you will be LIKE GOD knowing good and evil.

with this implanted idea in our mind satan can relax and wait, look of the out come we still believing we are GOD lesson to the news and you know.

let see satan mind:Job 1:8 Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”

this is what satan says;Job 1:9 “Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied

Job 2:4 “Skin for skin!” Satan replied. “A man will give all he has for his own life.

now look what God says to satan; And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.”

    this is what satan does ,but Christ came to show us the work satan does so we can stay faithful to God;

    and satan a liar .

sinse Christ dead and resurrection (he is the real JOB )
he is the one Job was complaining of having no one to represent him in front of God ,but we have him now Christ our Lord the Son of God.

    Terraricca,

As a transfer from the thread asking if the KJV is wrong about Luke 10:18 in the forum titled The Bible.

In this you advanced the idea that the book of Revelations is being literal when it speaks of Satan knocking a third of the host of heaven from the sky and moving to devour the the students of Jesus.   You also connect that to Satan being imprisoned prior to the thousand years of peace and then released at the end of the period.  I am assuming you mean the fallen angels were imprisoned with him.

Assuming that is true how do you think it applies to the passages in other books that speaks of angels being imprisoned.   Do you believe they are speaking of a future event?

    Terraricca,

I am confused about when you believe scripture speaks of Satan’s fall since it appears at one time that you are stating he fell when Jesus was crucified and another that he fell before that.

I have heard that Ezekiel 28 is actually symbolic and directed at the king of Tyre and so not speaking of Satan.  The Obstacle is not mentioned by the name “Satan” in the passage so how would you know if it is or is not him even if it were speaking of a fallen angel.

I believe that God is prone to use double entendre which can be tricky and so it is defiantly plausible that that passage is both about the fall of Satan and about the king of Tyre.

Isa 14:12 ¶ How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

These are the scriptures that tell you about Lucifer/Satan's rebellion.
What you read in Rev. 12:4, show how many angels that followed Satan in his rebellion.

What you read in Ezekiel is a comparison of Satan, to the strongest and most powerful kingdoms of their time. Satan convinced himself that he was stronger then God; his pride and vanity did that. Babylon was strong and impregnable, so they thought. The city of Tyre, the way she was situated, was also conquer prove, so they thought.
What we are to learn from this is, our self reliance, pride and vanity, will always be our downfall.

    Georg
