    Marty,

    Quote
If he did not have this provision, when someone sins, that sin is there until it is washed away by the blood of the Lord.

I know Jesus said anyone who sins is a slave to sin.

I also know it is written he washed us from sin with our own blood.

In addition I know that Scripture cannot be broken.

Since Jesus declared that he would free us from slavery to sin it follows he does and freedom is gained by having him washing us from sin with his own blood.

If you are truly free from sin you do not sin because anyone who sins is a servant of sin.  You have put on you new self created like God in true holiness and righteousness.

    Hi Kerwin:

Although we are saved, and we do not practice sin willfully, we still make mistakes, and the blood of the Lord cleanses us from sin when we confess the sin with a repentant heart.   That is what 1 John 1:6-10 states.

    Love in Christ,
    Marty

    Marty,

It could mean it washes the one who confesses the sin from the desire to sin in that way again. After all it is written that one that lives by the Spirit will not sin. Sin is not from the Spirit since it is instead from the flesh.

    Hi,
    WE have a choice.

Either we build on the talent -the earnest of the Spirit -and produce a profit for our master, overcoming sin in the flesh and having our minds transformed,
or we bury the talent remaining earthly and produce no fruit becoming fit for the fire

    Hi Kerwin:

The desires to sin is something one must overcome once one has been born again, and that takes some time, and so, I do not think that the scriptures mean that the blood cleanses us from our desires to sin, and the scripture in 1 John 1:1 specifically states that the blood cleanses us from all sin, not from all the desires to sin. And also, the scriptures state that if we confess our sin, he if faithful and just to forgive our sins, not our desires to sin.

    Quote

    1Jo 1:7

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

    1Jo 1:8

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

    1Jo 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

    Love in Christ,
    Marty

    Marty,

I am not sure how to actually say that the Spirit cleanses us from the desire to do those thing of sin we are tempted to do.  We still have to embrace it,  It is a process whose speed is determined by our faith and all that entails. Scripture compares it to growing up and that does not happen instantly.

    The stronger our foundation gets;
the stronger the urge not to sin.
Because satan has become weak before us.
His devices will not have an effect.
He has gone lame. He is defeated.

    wakeup.

    Hi Kerwin:

What you are speaking of here is the process of sanctification, and the Lord, prayed this prayer to God:

    Quote

    Jhn 17:15

I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

    Jhn 17:16

They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

    Jhn 17:17

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

    Jhn 17:18

As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

    Jhn 17:19

And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

    Hi,
    Jas 1
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

    Hi,
God wants us clean and free
    .Ephesians 5:26
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

    .1 Thessalonians 4:3
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

    .1 Thessalonians 5:23
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Hi,
Lusts give birth to SIN in us[Jas]
We cannot be ruled by SIN

We must be overcomers or wait till death sets us free.
He who has died is freed from SIN

    Hi,
He condemned sin in the flesh

    Lk 8

30 And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion”; for many demons had entered him. 31 They were imploring Him not to command them to go away into the abyss.

32 Now there was a herd of many swine feeding there on the mountain; and the demons implored Him to permit them to enter [a]the swine. And He gave them permission.
