Luke 17:6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea: and it should obey you.
What does this imply? A mustard seed is so small, yet one would imagine that you would need an enormous amount of faith to do something like this?
Can anyone please explain it?

J42Lk 17:5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
Christ in his parable shows that even with a little faith you can come to do great things,
and that faith is something like a seed who lives within us if we let it grow ,it will become bigger and bigger,stronger and stronger.
Mt 13:31 He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field.(his heart)
Mt 13:32 Though it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches.”THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY CHRIST DISCIPLES,AND STILL WE ARE TODAY FEEDING ON THEIR MUSTARD TREE THEY HAVE PLANTED IN THE GARDEN OF GOD ,(EARTH)
this is the way I see it ,

Even a tiny amount of believing is powerful, powerful enough to uproot trees and to move mountains.We do not have to be spiritual giants to get results. We simply believe.

Hi PierrePraise the Lord, for God has revealed this to you. I missed the verse in Matthew, and thank you, that makes it so much more clearer on what I am about to discuss.
If we read the verse in Luke, then we only get this picture.
Luke 17:6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea: and it should obey you.It appears as if we only just believe an incy tiny bit, then we can accomplish great miracles like the one mentioned….but can you and I do this?
no matter how much faith we have, and I'm sure it's larger than the size of a mustard seed, we cannot perform this.But if we seek the scriptures, we have more of an explanation and understanding regarding the mustard seed, like the scripture you quoted in Matthew. God bless you for searching to find the answer brother.
Matthew 13:31 another parable he put forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field:
Matthew 13:32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds but WHEN it is GROWN, it is the greatest among herbs, and BECOMES a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.
So, this tiny mustard seed is compared to;
the kingdom of heaven.This tiny mustard seed will;
grow
expand
mature
reach it's full potentialBut the kingdom has to be set up on earth first
because whilst the kingdom is still growing;
more have to come in,
Israelites, and gentilesAnd our faith will;
grow
expand
mature
reach it's full potentialbut as soon as Christ returns, he will resurrect ]us, and quicken us to spirit
WHEN this happens, our faith will be fully matured, and we will inherit everything that belongs to the Father.
At the coming of Christ.
The promise.
We will be spirit.
Perfect.
Fully maturedBut whilst this is happening, the kingdom still has to grow
So although we are fully matured, the rest have to come in now;
The Israelites
The Gentiles
Their faith has to grow now, and it will mature at the end of the 1000 yearsthen the rest of those to come in will also be able to say to the sycamore tree, uproot here, and plant yourself over there. Only after they are changed to spirit
…after the 1000 years.THEN THE KINGDOM WILL BE FULLY MATURED,
filled with all of God's children. The whole lot of thembut the saints now, who will receive glory with Christ on his return
will be fully matured and changed to SPIRIT,
THEN they can command the sycamore tree to move elsewhere, and anything else they command will be done.
These saints will inherit the kingdom, before the rest. They will be the kings, and priests. FULLY MATURED. Qualified to teach.That mustard seed is the Kingdom of God, planted in our hearts preparing to mature.
Very exciting.

Hi PierreI thought you understood?
Faith the size of a mustard seed is LIKE the kingdom of God.
The explanation was made more clear in Matthew.FAITH.
It will grow and MATURE.
WHEN we are changed to SPIRIT we can do anything.
but not whilst we are still FLESH,
only WHEN we are MATURED.we are FULLY MATURED when Christ returns and resurrects all the saints. We WILL BE CHANGED THEN.
but in the meantime,
more have to come into the kingdom.
for 1000 years.
These are still FLESH.
They are learning but not fully matured yet.
When all has come in, then the rest will be changed to spirit after the 1000 years.Then the kingdom of God is fully matured, and Zion will have all her children with her. Everything will be history.
I hope you understand this better now.

Greetings brother PierreYes I did jump too far ahead.
I'm always trying to give my brothers how things fit into the BIG PICTURE. I gave away way too much additional info…..You see, some don't just write for the fun of it.
These are valuable jewels.
We need to pick up these jewels and put them in our pocket.
We are gonna need them
If I'm passionate, and the spirit moves me, I will spit it out. Whatever comes out concerning the plan of God.
I know other brothers will get this urge too.
The picture never stops
The picture is continuous, flowing, in order, marvellous
The picture is revealed to us by the Word of God.I'm not a prophet, or anyone great.
I don't have a church to protect
Just a simple truth seeker.
A loner in Christ
I've been hushed for too long.So much light
So little time.If you disagree with anything, and find it not true, then tell me exactly which part and we can discuss.
God bless

Since I have put this post on quite some time ago, my understanding has increased. I understand this more clearly now.Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
It just simply means that whatever is impossible for men, is possible for God.
It's got nothing to do about moving a tree really. It's just giving us an example that prayers can be answered.
Some things are just too impossible for men to fix, but with God all things are possible. If we have faith, and ask for help, our burdens can be lifted. God will move in, and do the impossible, making it possible now.Matthew 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
Mark 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Luke 18:27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
Thank you for bringing this up again, to give me the opportunity to rectify.
Since this post was written, God has proven to me in my own personal life that by trusting him, he has done the most amazing things, to turn situations around entirely, which was not possible to do by myself or anybody else in this world.April 18, 2014 at 4:16 am#378374terrariccaParticipantQuote (journey42 @ April 18 2014,08:51) Quote (Nick Hassan @ April 18 2014,08:35) Hi,

Yes I do Pierre, but that's a different parable. That mustard seed in Mark 4:31 and Luke 13:19 is the Word of God sown. (the kingdom preached on earth starts off small then grows)My first explanation just made it too difficult to understand. The parable was so simple really, and I just went into too much depth which was going off track. I apologise for this.
It's just a simple message, if we have faith even a little, God can perform the impossible and Christ likened it to moving a mountain from one place to another at our request, most men would think this is impossible. The mountain being thrown into the sea is just a way of God telling us that whatever is in the way, if we ask him, he can remove (lift our burdens)
And what you say is true also, but concerns the kingdom as a whole, and not our need for God to step in as an individual and change our lives.
…But that tree in Daniel symbolised Nebuchadnezzar's kingdom, and him being that tree that was cut down. A different story.April 19, 2014 at 4:47 am#378511terrariccaParticipantj42
