This is topical.
September 26, 2006 at 8:29 pm#29266NickHassanParticipantHi,
This concept is integral to the whole work of God among men.
God unites us in Christ to Himself through His Spirit in the vessel of Christ and of men.October 3, 2006 at 7:50 pm#29972NickHassanParticipantHi,
Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit as were the apostles and so can our vessels be.October 8, 2006 at 9:36 pm#30285NickHassanParticipantHi,
Vessels can be empty, can hold Spirit and can pour out that Spirit. We are made in the image of God.
God is of a similar nature as He can pour out His Spirit.Joel 2
” 29And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. “October 15, 2006 at 5:23 pm#30498NickHassanParticipantHi,
Paul was chosen as a vessel for God.
Acts 9
” 15But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel”So are we all
Romans 9:23
And He did so to make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory”And we are not meant to be vessels for wrath.
Romans 9:22
What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction?November 8, 2006 at 10:47 pm#31939NickHassanParticipantHi,
The nature of men as vessels is vital to understanding of God filling us and using us to His purposes. Jesus showed us the way.November 13, 2006 at 8:49 pm#32373NickHassanParticipanttopical
January 23, 2007 at 9:32 pm#38176NickHassanParticipantHi,
Will you follow the Son and be a vessel for God and His work?
It is our destiny to do so if we belong to Christ.January 26, 2007 at 2:45 am#38298NickHassanParticipantHi,
Matthew 23:25
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.Matthew 23:26
Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.Luke 11:39
Then the Lord said to him, “Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. The problem with the Pharisees is that their self righteousness blinded them to sin within them and they were opposed to the teaching of Christ that all have sinned and must repent and have their vessels cleansed to be fit to hold the treasure of the Spirit.

God indeed came in the flesh-in the flesh of the Son of God. The Spirit of God was poured by God into him without measure such that this humble vessel allowed the fullness of the deity of God to be revealed to me. He struggled with his own will at Gethsemene as his death became imminent but he resubmitted and was faithful and obedient till he died. Wedo not deserve such love. Some get confused and think God himself came in the flesh and deny the Son of God, the Christ vessel.April 4, 2007 at 7:36 pm#47462NickHassanParticipanttopical

Matt 25
“Matthew 25:4
But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.'
So the oil is the Spirit flowing up in our vessels unto eternal life.
Those who did not find the source and store the precious oil were not found written in the book of life.April 4, 2007 at 10:44 pm#47492NickHassanParticipantHi,
Acts 9
15But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:Paul too was a vessel for the Spirit of God chosen and fully used by God.

For in Him all the fullness of Deity [Gr. Theotes] dwells in bodily formThe problem here is “theos” and “theotes” are two different Greek words and denote entirely different things.
Theotes is used in Colossians 2:9 as actually an abstract noun for ‘theos’. It does not designate that Jesus was filled with the Father Himself. Paul would have used the noun ’theos’ if he wanted to convey this (note that Jesus is also said to be IN the Father in John 10:38; 14:10, 11; 17:21). Nor can you translate “theotes” to mean a simple quality or attribute (“theiotes” would be the appropriate word for this), it goes well beyond this, and instead refers to ‘divine essence’.
Thayer’s lexicon defines theotes as the “state of being God”.
Vine’s Expository Dictionary of NT words records this:
”…But in the second passage (Col. 2:9), Paul is declaring that in the Son there dwells all the fullness of absolute Godhead; they were no mere rays of Divine glory which gilded Him, lighting up His Person for a season and with a splendor not His own; but He was, and is, absolute and perfect God; and the Apostle uses theotes to express this essential and personal Godhead of the Son” (Trench, Syn. ii). Theotes indicates the “Divine” essence of Godhood, the personality of God; theiotes, the attributes of God, His “Divine” nature and properties.
Hi Isaiah 1:18:
Jesus personality or spirit had been formed through obedience to the Word of God, as your quote from Vines Dictionary states, “Theotes indicates the 'Divine' essene of Godhood, THE PERSONALITY OF GOD;”.
God did dwell in Jesus by the Holy Spirit as a helper as he dwells in us who are born again believers as well, but the personality of God is that which was formed through obedience to the Word of God. Hebrews 1:3 states that Jesus is the express image of God's person. We know that by the life that he lived (the Word of God applied). When we have seen him, that is his personality, we have seen the Father.
We as believers are not there yet, but we should be going in that direction, as we learn to apply the Word of God in our daily lives.
Speaking of Jesus, “Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared. Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered: and being made perfect, be became the author of eternal salvation unto all who obey him”. (Hebrews 5:7-9)

Hi Nick:Thanks for your kind words. God is blessing me on a daily basis so that I can be a blessing. Without Him I could do nothing. I love God and I love people and my desire is God's very best for each and every one.
God Bless you and your family

2Cor 5
” 10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”So as well as being vessels we live IN a body.
