Does scripture tell you to follow God?
Or, like BD, have you just chosen to try this?July 18, 2009 at 4:12 am#137931Not3in1ParticipantQuote (Nick Hassan @ Mar. 28 2009,10:17) Hi LU,
He agreed to come submitting to the will of the Father so they had the unity that a faithful servant has with his Lord. But from the Jordan he was endowed with the Spirit of God empowering him to will and to do,
Nick,Your theories on preexistence are dictating yet more theories, it seems.
Jesus was never just a faithful servant, like Moses. Jesus has always been the faithful Son.
Hebrews 3:5, 6 Moses was faithful as a servant in all God's house, testifying to what would be said in the future. 6But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house.
Perhaps Jesus was given the GIFT of holy Spirit from the Jordan? But being one with the Father IN Spirit…well…that came with this birth right – imo.

I am sure such fine sounding teachings may satisfy those who sit in your pews but we are bible students.
Do you worry that you may be not helping them as you yourself have some doubts about aspects of the orthodox trinity theory do you not?July 19, 2009 at 9:30 am#138027kerwinParticipantQuote (Not3in1 @ July 18 2009,11:12) Quote (Nick Hassan @ Mar. 28 2009,10:17) Hi LU,

Your being picky about the language scripture chooses to use. Jesus is a faithful servant as well as the Son of God.Look at Isaiah 42:1.

Hi Kerwin,Not picky, just trying to point out to Nick that Jesus indeed was given holy spirit as a birth-right, not at the Jordan through baptism like everyone else.
Of course Jesus was also a faithful servant. But when Jesus was compared to the most faithful servant over God's house (Moses), he was given more honor as a Son over God's house. His birth status overranked any servanthood, in other words.
Good to hear from you!

Where is the Holy Spirit shown to be given to Jesus earlier than the Jordan and what fruit do you see?

God is Spirit.God is Jesus' father.

Nick,You make me laugh. We draw most of what we know by inference, bro. What you believe about the Jordan is not from scripture, we have all seen that here. You have been unsuccessful at proving your point regarding the Jordan.
There are scriptures that say God is Spirit.
There are scriptures that say Jesus is God's Son.Not inference – fact.
I dare say that the Father is going to be a tad ticked that people are not recognizing Jesus as he one and ONLY Son. Yes, yes, it's true we are all sons in Adam – but Jesus is unquestionably set aside as unique in that regard.
July 19, 2009 at 9:20 pm#138062NickHassanParticipantHi not3,
Stitching two truths together does not necessarily make another truth.
So tell us of the fruit of 30 years compared with three?July 19, 2009 at 9:36 pm#138063NickHassanParticipantHi not3,
God is not just His Holy Spirit. He was in heaven where Jesus told us to pray to Him while Jesus was filled with His Spirit.
Being fathered by the Spirit of God still made him an ordinary man and did not fill him with God's SpiritJuly 19, 2009 at 10:20 pm#138066LightenupParticipantHi Nick,
I just want to add here that John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit while in his mother's womb yet he did not bear the fruit of that (the type you are looking for in Jesus anyway) till he was called out of the desert to start his ministry. So, we do see the faithful son aspect in Jesus as a young boy and also understanding scriptures and a devotion to His Father in heaven before the Jordan. That is fruit…isn't it. John did not exhibit any more fruit than that before his baptism ministry, did he? Yet, we know that John was filled from the womb.Blessings,
LUJuly 19, 2009 at 10:35 pm#138067NickHassanParticipantHi LU,
If what you read is sufficient fruit then what of the GIFTS of the same Spirit as shown in 1 Cor 12.July 19, 2009 at 10:42 pm#138069LightenupParticipantNot so fast Nick,
Show us the fruit you need to see in Jesus before His ministry began after the Jordan in John the Baptist before his ministry began. Show me the GIFTS of the same Spirit as shown in 1 Cor 12 in John the Baptist before his ministry.
LUJuly 19, 2009 at 10:52 pm#138074NickHassanParticipantHi LU,
Is anything but obedience and love of scripture shown? No GIFTS of the Spirit are shown till he was anointed at the Jordan.
