Rev. 12:1 “And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.”
The woman, a type of church is Israel. The son, Jesus, a type of husband had made a covenant with her, married her.
The sun, moon, and stars, are metaphors.
The sun is the source of light; there is another source of light, the light of truth;John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them , saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
Israel had that light, truth, she was covered with it.
Moses was the sun, he received the light, truth, from God; the source of all light. He than passed it on to the moon, the priests, the Levites. They in turn reflected, taught, the light on the whole nation Israel.
The crown of Israel are the twelve tribes.Rev. 12:2 “And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.”
The child of course being Jesus Christ.
v. 3 “And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.”
The red dragon is Satan, the seven heads are the seven kingdoms of the bible; the ten horns are all the kings that would rule, crowns, in all seven kingdoms. Satan is pictured in this scripture as the beast with seven heads, to emphasize the fact that he is the power behind all worldly kingdoms, and that he has used every worldly kingdom, to destroy God's plan.
v. 4 “And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth; and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.”
Even with the help of his demons, stars, all his attempts have failed.
v. 5 “And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron, and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.”
We now come to Christs second bride.
It was his first bride that had him killed. His death ended the covenant he had made with her; he was now free to marry another. A spiritual bride, the saints, the church of God.v. 6 “And the woman fled into the wilderness, were she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.”
v. 14 “And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, were she is norished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.”The whole world was the wilderness. God protected her from total destruction, but he tested her faith and loyalty severely under the reign of Antichrist for 1260 years.
v. 15 “And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.”
Water is also a metaphor for truth, listen to Jesus;
John 4:14 “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
John 7:38 “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living waters.”A flood however is destructive. The flood Satan cast out after the woman, saints, were the lies of Antichrists doctrines, because all that did not believe his doctrines were killed.
Rev. 12:16 “And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.”
The earth, people, helped the woman. In 1517 A.D. Martin Luther started the great Reformation; it took the pressure of the woman. This is also what Daniel was speaking of in;
Dan. 11:34 “Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help,…”
Then, when Satan was cast out of heaven;
Rev. 12:9 “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world; he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”
And Satan renewed his efforts to destroy the first woman completely.
v. 13 “And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.”
v.17 “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep (have) the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”The remnant of her seed were all the Jews/Israelites, scattered all over the world.
God bless

I agree with all but your last statement.Quote The remnant of her seed were all the Jews/Israelites, scattered all over the world. The remnant is the Spiritual church of the New covenant who keep the commandments of God AND have the testamony of Jesus.
Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
The Jews do not have the testimony of Jesus and therefore are not the true church.
Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
The body of Christ is not just fleshly born again Jews but Gentiles as well. We are one in Christ, Gal. 3:28.

July 17, 2007 at 5:51 pm#60327Mr. SteveParticipantRevelation 12 is a futuristic picture of the Church (the woman) in travail that brings forth a manchild (the sons of God). The woman is raptured (1260 days is three and one half years) The remnant of her seed are those that are left behind and are a type of Lot, which must endure to the end to be saved. Natural Israel is no where in this picture. Christians need to read what Jesus said about the natural Jews, it's remarkable. You are not the children of Abraham. You don't know the law of Moses. You don't know God or keep his law. You are the children of the devil. The list goes on and on and on… Hebrews says that God regarded them not because they kept not his covenant. The new covenant is a spiritual covenant in Christ. After the rapture in Revelation 12, we see the Anti-Christ revealed in Revelation 13.

2Th 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2Th 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;July 18, 2007 at 4:24 am#60456IM4TruthParticipantKen
There is no remnant of the saints, woman. This church is constantly growing in spite of persecution.
Satan was wroth with the woman that brought forth the man child, Jesus, Rev. 12:13, this woman was Israel; Satan went to make war with the remnant of her seed, descendants. How did Satan do this?
We know from the book of Job, that Satan can not harm us, but he can find evil men that will do his evil work for him. Satan found his man in Adolf Hitler. Hitler tried to kill all the Jews, and had he won the war, there would be no flesh, Jew, alive today. But for the elect sakes;
Is. 45:4 “For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect,…”
Is. 65:22 “They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.”
Rom. 11:28 “As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes, but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers sakes.”
those days were shortened;
Mat. 24:22 “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved; but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.”
Germany lost. This persecution by Hitler, was the worst time of the Jewish people ever;
Mat. 24:21 “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.”
You can also read about this great tribulation in Jer. 30:7, and in Dan. 12:1.
The Jews did have both, the commandments and the testimony of Jesus; the spirit of prophecy, Rev. 19:10.Mr. Steve; how do you make sons, plural, of God, out of one man child?
I can tell that you, and many others, have set your hope on a rapture; my friend(s), it is not going to happen. Antichrist ruled from 565 A.D. till 1825 A.D., 1260 years. He was the little horn in Dan. 7:8, he was the beast out of the earth, people, Rev. 13:11; and he is also referred to as the image of the beast, Rev.13:14.
Yes, it is quite remarkable what the bible says about the Israelites/Jews;
Jer. 32:37 “Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in my anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause the to dwell safely.”
Jer. 46:28 “Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, says the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished.”
Ez. 36:11 “And I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bring fruit; and I will settle you after your old estates, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.”
v. 24 “For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.”
Deut. 7:6 “For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God has chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.”
There are of course many more scriptures that show, God is not ever finished with his people.Bless you all

Quote The Jews did have both, the commandments and the testimony of Jesus; the spirit of prophecy, Rev. 19:10. OH! And all this time I thought that we were all one in Christ Gal.3:28. Boy I'm glad I'm a Jew
You are right the saints (called out ones) WILL go through the tribulation but NOT the wrath of God.
Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
But that's just Jews
