Quote (Nick Hassan @ April 12 2014,03:54) Hi 94,
Yes but the promise of God is that he will not leave or forsake us.
The Spirit abides while the old body disintegrates
flesh has no future
Hi Nick:When Jesus was dying, he said “my God my God why hast thou forsaken me”, and the scripture states that “he tasted death for every man”, and since we know that men who are Christians die a physical death every day, then the death that he tasted for every man must not be talking about the physical death, but a spiritual death, meaning that he was spiritually separated from God, until God raised him from the dead.

He was quoting ps 22
psalm 22:1
My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? He was the scapegoat carrying all the sin of man
Sin separates us from GodBut death frees us from sin[rom6] and his death restored him to his Father
April 11, 2014 at 10:26 pm#377404NickHassanParticipantHi 94,
Rom6
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Really, Nick:So, Jesus just quotes the psalm and it does not apply to what he was going through?
Yes, I know all that you have stated about him being the propitiation for our sins, and he died the spiritual death that each of us would have died had we not confessed him as our Lord.
But the point that I was trying to make you see is that dead men do not preach. He may have preached to the dead, the spiritually dead, prior to his death and maybe after his resurrection, but not while he was in the grave.
In Noah's generation, Noah preached to those in his generation by the Holy Spirit while he was preparing the ark.

Hi Nick:If the scripture states that he tasted death for every man, and this simply refers to a physical death, wouldn't that mean that Christians would not have to suffer a physical death any longer?

MartyApril 14, 2014 at 8:54 pm#377943NickHassanParticipantHi 94,
Why should it mean that?April 15, 2014 at 4:31 pm#378050942767ParticipantQuote (Nick Hassan @ April 15 2014,07:54) Hi 94,
Why should it mean that?
Hi Nick:Because we as born again Christians, may have to die a physical death, but we as Jesus have died unto sin and death has no more dominion over us. We will no longer suffer a spiritual death or separation from God if we continue in the faith.

Hi Nick:You say:
Being dead in our sins, is prophetic.
I don't know about being prophetic, but it is scriptural.
