    Hi KW,

    Your term I refer to.

    What does it mean?

    Nick,

sinful nature = bestial nature = flesh

Is that the answer you are looking for?

    Hi KW,

You mean sin that is alive in us?[rom7]

    Hi KW,

It is SIN IN THE FLESH that is condemned, not the flesh itself.

“Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.” – Ezekiel 36:26,27

The whole purpose of the new covenant is that, by the Spirit we now desire (and are empowered) to keep the commandments of God.

..where Christians get confused is by thinking that in keeping them we are somehow putting ourselves back under the old law..but we are freed from those old strict observances now because, like the Psalmist, we now desire to live in the way that pleases God – now we love His law.. now His Law is written on our hearts.. “..but his delight is in the law of the LORD..” (Psalm 1)

To say that the commandments are done away with (as many teachers do) is a direct contradiction to the words of Christ, and, I believe, why there is so little distinction now between the world and the children of God.

    Hi davidl,

But you do not even believe Jesus Christ is the SON of God.

How can you advise those who do?

    Hi KW,

    Is Jesus the Messiah?

Or are you still waiting for him to come?

He came to lift the burden of sin from the world, including Israel.

He condemned sin in the flesh and gave men freedom

    Hi KW,

Do you feel the ten commandments are your means to salvation or have the commandments of Jesus taken precedence?

Is it possible to be a religious Jew and to follow Jesus Christ?

    Nick,

I do not cherry pick the Law of Moses of which the ten commandments are just one part that the Jewish people heard and were terrified of hearing any more of the Law directly from God. After that Mosses served as their advocate.

That Law of Moses is for the Hebrew people and not for Gentiles; of which I am one. It is their custom and not mine. Nevertheless those who live by the Spirit keep the righteous requirements of it.

Romans 8:3-4Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

    Hi KW,

So if you are Jewish by religion but say it does not apply to you because you are a gentile

that must leave you in a state of great confusion.

How can it only be a CUSTOM?

    Nick,

You seem to have trouble with the fact that the only definition Scripture uses for the words “image of God” is like God in true righteousness and holiness. Did you find another definition or do you prefer speculation?

Why are you still debating with the words of Scripture as Paul is the the one who told the Jews that heard him that his religion and theirs was the same with the words “our religion”. Debate with God why that is what he has written in Scripture.

    Hi KW,

Is it possible to BECOME a jew by choice

and yet not be subject to their law

    because you are a gentile?

Is it only as a CUSTOM that you adopted their religion?

Does God see it that way?

    Hi KW,

You offer speculation and accuse those who disagree of doing just that.

Is it possible for a gentile to become a Jew by religion and not be bound to follow their Law?

    Hi KW,

In what way are you Jewish by religion if you do not accept the Law as your schoolmaster?

What sort of jewish religion is this?

    Nick,

Scripture tells us of Gentile believers in the OT. They are mentioned in the NT as well. In the later they are called God fearing Gentiles. The Law of Moses has saw laws that were exclusively for the Hebrew people and other laws that were for both Jews and Gentiles. God did not send the second Advocate until the covenant of Christ was sealed and empowered. Both Jews and Gentiles enter the second covenant but it is still the same religion, even as Paul told the Jews.

    Hi KW,

    Religion is defined by James.

It is different to the one you claim Paul spoke of?

But Paul said he was FORGETTING THOSE THINGS WHICH ARE BEHIND, and REACHING FORWARD TO THOSE THINGS WHICH ARE BEFORE   phil3

You have to leave behind reliance on the circumcision of the flesh and rely on the new circumcision

    Col2 10f

And you are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power; in whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, IN PUTTING OFF THE BODY OF THE SINS OF THE FLESH, BY THE CIRCUMCISION OF CHRIST;  BURIED WITH HIM IN BAPTISM wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses.”

You cannot sit on the fence.

    Choose as Paul did.

He was as the wise storeman who could take good things old and new from his storehouse.

    Nick,

You have to leave behind reliance on the circumcision of the flesh and rely on the new circumcision

It does not say that. Instead it uses the circumcision of the flesh as to symbolize cutting off the works of the flesh.

Colossians 2:11New King James Version (NKJV)

11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins[a] of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,
    Footnotes:

Colossians 2:11 NU-Text omits of the sins.

If you knew Scripture then you would realize that the custom of circumcision was not given to the Gentiles but was instead given to Abraham and his sons, as of the flesh.

You are still having difficulty that according to Scripture Judaism and Christianity are the same religion. From what I have heard it was a Roman modified the temple tax to exclude Christians from paying it. The negative side is they now considered Christians a new cult they could either choose to tolerate or stamp out of existence.

I do not accept that decision as words of Scripture disagree.
