    Hi,

The Power of Going To Church  (Topic#: 7518)
In the house of God a believer is instructed in righteousness and is ministered to in a myriad of ways. Learn how to live eight years longer. How can we live eight years longer by going to church? God

It just can't be done. You cannot disobey a commandment of God without suffering negative consequences. Conversely, those who obey God's commandments reap the benefits of obedience.

If the King James majority-text Bible is in fact the word of the living God then disobeying or obeying its commandments should reap obvious results, and it does. Simply more proof that thousands of years before man understood why, God gave holy instructions of unfathomable wisdom and benefit that only the supernatural designer and creator could know.

Remember, inherent within the holy directive is a blessing or a curse. Obeying our God's commandments is simply practicing excellent living.

    Now for today's subject.

GOD SAID in Hebrews, Chapter 10, Verses 24-25:

24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Throughout the scriptures mankind is directed by God to seek his face in a place of worship. In the Old Testament it was called the temple, which was located at Jerusalem, or a synagogue located in sundry places. With the advent of the New Testament the meeting place for Christians became known as the church. The church and synagogue have the same basic definition: a place where “the called” congregate. Many marvelous things happen in a church where the word of God is honored. In the house of God a believer is instructed in righteousness and is ministered to in a myriad of ways. It is a place of community and powerful support. God's house is the ultimate place for answers, vision and encouragement. When Jesus Christ resurrected from Abraham's Bosom, he gave gifts unto men for the perfecting of the saints. The gifts he gave are gifts of ministry, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers (Ephesians 4:8-12). The primary anchor for these ministry gifts to operate is the formal church setting. The benefits of congregating in God's house are more than I could number.

MAN SAID: Why go to church with all the hypocrites, I'll worship God in the woods. Other men have said: there is no God; therefore, He has no church.

Now THE RECORD: Hundreds of studies have been, and are presently being conducted to ascertain whether there is any connection between religious faith and health. Some of the latest results are shocking to the unbelieving world. In 1999 the results of a study conducted by the University of Texas were published. Twenty-two thousand people were followed over a nine year period. Those who attended church or synagogue more than once a week lived an average of eight years longer than those who didn't. Let me say it another way: those who attended church more than once a week lived 2,920 days or 11% longer than those who didn't.

A Yale study reported that churchgoers were less likely to become physically disabled. In a syndicated article released by Knight Ridder Newspapers it was recorded:

Several studies concluded that people who attended religious services regularly are hospitalized less often and have stronger immune systems than people who rarely or never attend.

A church is a place to seek the face of God, to rejoice, to give thanks and to be glad”

So salvation is not apparently what it is about. Living longer is the most important thing.  If you want to live longer go to a church building, any such building, and worship whoever they worship there and that is what you need.

Do others agree that it does not matter what church we attend?
And did Jesus say we needed to go to a building to worship Him, or rather to worship the Father in spirit and truth?

Please make sure you understand that this quote above was added by Nick who opposes everything that I post or that I copy and post from my church website.

And remember this, when it comes to fellowship. A merry heart, doth good like a medicine. And what greater medicine than the salvation of one's soul. :)

No, that is not what I am asking. I want to know more about what you have presented as fact here.

Perhaps you can show us your sources so we can find out for ourselves if you do not have the information at hand. If attending the local mormon church made me live longer would I be better off?

And the other question was whether you felt health of our frail tent body was the primary message of the gospel?

Regardless to the answers of these questions Nick, one thing is unmistakeably clear:
'The command to not forsake meeting together with your spiritual brothers, unlike some who do,' as the scripture goes.

I have seen studies too, where people who attend church have less stress, which causes less health issues. Of course, just any old church may help your stress, but the important thing is to be “healthy in the faith.” (Titus 1:13; 2:1) And there is only “one faith, one Lord.” So, Nick, as you are trying to get H to say, some churches have people who are clearly at peace but shouldn't be. They are not on the narrow road.

Yet, the fact remains. And it cannot be suppressed no matter how many questions you ask Nick: The Bible commands true Christians to meet together with their fellow believers.

    Hi H,
So is any old teaching fine by you so long as we live longer??

As I said before Nick, when you ask silly questions, I am not going to answer them.

    Hi,
Certainly folks love the security of a group of fellow minded people.
They may even hear the word of God spoken there.

But submission to men who are self appointed and who hold to their bosoms their traditions is unwise

    Hi,

The false church demands utter allegiance to herself and offers her traditions as truth.

But God wants His children to worship and serve Him in His Son.
