    Hi,
    Jesus said
” I am the way, the truth and the Life”

    Scripture also calls him
    “The Word of Life”
    and
    “The bread of Life”

    1Jn 1.1
“…concerning the Word of Life- and the life was manifested and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us-“

    1Jn 5.10f
“..the testimony which God has given concerning His Son. And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son does not have life”

    Jn 1.3f
” All things came into being through him, and apart from him nothing came into being that has come into being. In him was life, and the life was was the light of men”

All life comes through the Son from the Father. If a being has life it has come through the Son. So the Son precedes all life that exists apart from his own and that of the Father.

Since the Son is life then it is appropriate that the Father sent this life to bring eternal life, the life that is in him, to those who are saved in him.

Those who cannot accept he is the Son of God and is life cannot grasp that eternal life.

    Hi ,
Jesus also said in Jn 11.25
“I am the resurrection and the Life; he who believes in me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?'
    She[Martha] said to him
'Yes,Lord; I have believed that you are the Christ the Son of God, even he who comes into the world”

So since life, even eternal life is in the Son then those who arise in him on the last day do so because of that Spirit life.

Jesus is the one prophesied by Isaiah in 52.10 and 53.1f, as the “Arm of the Lord” who grew up “like a shoot out of parched ground” [Compare also Jn12.38]

He was “The righteous one” of heaven, a servant son sent to come from heaven and from the dust like us.

Those believers who are alive when he returns will never die.

    Hi,
    David has life
    Abraham has life
    Adam has life

But all life came through the Son of God

    The universe exists
    The earth exists
    A stone exists

Everything came into being through the Son of God.

    He is life.

    Hi,
Before all life began to exist the Son of God existed because all life came through him.

Including eternal life? which has no beginning or end – and is God's own life? Surely God existed before the son.

    Hi Malcolm,
    1Jn 5.10f
“….the testimony God has given concerning His Son. And the testimomy is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in the Son. He who has the Son has life;he who does not have the Son does not have life”

Eternal life comes from God, but God has made the Son to be the source of that life. That makes no statement that the Son has always existed.

My point was that God exists, He is eternal, so that statement was a little ambiguous.
I know what you meant Nick, It's just good to be very clear for that benefit of others.

    Hi Malcolm,
The Son of God is from everlasting but begotten of God. Everything that came into being came through him so he IS before all created life. He is the only begotten Son and the firstborn of creation in fact, not as just another title.

God is the source of all life. If Jesus is the source of life then He is God.
He is the son of God, sons have beginnings. He is the channel through which God's poured life. God is the source of all life.

He is God at any time in the same sense as he explained in John 10:34-38.

Jesus is the son of the LIVING GOD – God is the LIVING ONE.
If Jesus is credited with being the source of life then He is God for God alone is the source of life.
God is life, Jehovah Elohim is the LIVING GOD. That life is IN His Son.

    I JOHN 5:11
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

Who has given this life? GOD and it is where? IN His son.

    Hi Malcolm,
God is the source of the Life in him who is the source of Life for men.
    Jn 5.26
“For just as the Father has life in Himself,
even so He GAVE to the Son also to have life in Himself”

So in the beginning was one Being God who had life in Himself
He begat a Son and gave for that Son also to have life in himself
And that Son was the source of all other beings and inanimate things.

If the Son always existed then he never would have been GIVEN LIFE.

A father is the source of life for his sons. God is our Father.
A son is a channel for the life of his father – expressed as a son.
God is the source of all things, Jesus is the channel for that source.
God made all things by Jesus Christ – through him.
Even as God redeems all things by Jesus Christ – through him.
But it is God who created, it is God who redeems, it is God who calls, justifies and glorifies.

    Hi Malcolm,
Is the Word of God the Son of God?

God is Logos (Word), the son is Logos (Word)
A man has a son the son is a man.
In Logos is Life, that Life when manifest is Light.
God is Light, Jesus is the light of the world, the sons of God are also Lights.

    Hi,
    Jn 10 10
“..I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.”

He was speaking to the living, who were to die.
He was offering them eternal life because that life is in the Son.

    JOHN 5:26
    For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

AS THE FATHER HAS LIFE IN HIMSELF in like manner the son.
    So who is the source?

    Hi Malcolm,
The Father is the source of the life in the Son,
and the Son is the source of all other life.
But the Son's life was separate from the Father,
as in the beginning he was with the Father,
and separate as a Son of man on earth
till he was filled with the Life of the Father,
the Spirit of life unto eternal life, at the Jordan.

God is the creator of all things – through or by Jesus Christ He created all things. (Jesus Christ – himself being the obvious exception)
