Hi,
The great Prophet John the baptist recognised Jesus as the Lamb of God.
Jn 1.29
“The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said
'Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”
And Jn 1.56
“Again the next day John was standing with two of his disciples, and he looked at Jesus as he walked and said
'Behold the Lamb of God'
The two disciples heard him speak and they followed Jesus”John was recalling what was spoken of Jesus in Jer 11.19
“But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter…”The reference to Jesus as the Lamb continues through the book of Revelation on 29 occasions and in 1Peter 1.39 and Acts 8.32.Surely then it is very important and we should study the implications.
Lambs were slaughtered as sin offerings throughout the Old Testament from Genesis 22.7 onwards. They were to be chosen as without blemish or flaw.
A lamb was also killed and eaten at the passover when the blood was smeared on the doorposts to keep the angel of death from the door, and this was an annual feast celebrated by Christ with his disciples before his death.
He is said to be a lamb without flaw, spotless[1Peter 1.19]
So Jesus had to be representative of the sheep, of the same nature and chosen as first fruits, of best quality, to die for the sins of the rest.
Does that mean he was a perfect physical specimen? No. Isaiah 53 makes it plain that he had no such appearances.
So instead it meant that he had not sinned. He was tempted in all ways from within as we are but was sinless.
May 4, 2006 at 9:19 pm#13270malcolm ferrisParticipantHe knew no sin, yet his body was made of the dust of the earth.
The dust of the earth is cursed, so the body had to die.
Had he not gone to the cross death would have claimed him at some point. We are told that we inherit the curse of sin through Adam
We aslo inherit the blessing through Jesus Christ
Both are imputed to us.We inherit our fallen ways from Adam through the natural birth because of sin.
We inherit eternal life from Christ through the supernatural birth because he knew no sin.The word Knowledge is key I believe…

Hi Malcolm,
Do you say his body was made from the dust of the earth?May 4, 2006 at 9:30 pm#13273malcolm ferrisParticipantYou know – upon conception the body is formed, the body comes from nutrients obtained in the womb. Those nutrients come from various sources all traced back to the earth.
May 4, 2006 at 9:53 pm#13275NickHassanParticipantHi Malcolm,
But the body comes from a conceptus derived from the union of seeds from two parents and is only fed in the womb by the blood of the mother.May 4, 2006 at 9:58 pm#13276NickHassanParticipantHi,
The lamb of God was slain, and we are to eat of his spiritual flesh to live, because man does not live by bread alone but but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.May 4, 2006 at 10:50 pm#13285malcolm ferrisParticipantQuote But the body comes from a conceptus derived from the union of seeds from two parents and is only fed in the womb by the blood of the mother. In the case of Jesus this was not the same old conception as happens in the natural process,
God is not a man, He is Spirit.
Conception is used to describe the process of thought, Jesus is the Word in flesh.
That Word was conceived in the virgin womb, not by the knowledge of good and evil, by which man fell, and we all come into the earth.
He was conceived by the knowledge of God.A word is after all a thought expressed.
May 5, 2006 at 1:57 am#13299NickHassanParticipantHi Malcolm,
The Word, a rational being of high and divine nature, is conceived\implanted as an embryo and goes through all the normal development stages to becoming a man. It seems to show that the influence of our earthy body overwhelms all other influences, it seems to be the dominant force in human growth?May 8, 2006 at 1:06 am#13368NickHassanParticipantHi,
When an Israelite chose a lamb from his flock to be sacrifoiced he had to choose one that was unblemished. So how would they do so? What is a blemish? Perhaps if it was small or limping or one ear was different it would not be suitable? Perhaps the choice would excludeany lamb that would not fetch top prices at the market?
So in what way was the Lamb of God unblemished? It was nothing to do with his physical appearance which was severely marred by the time he died. So it had to do with sin. We know he never sinned but was tempted in every way we are. He overcame sin and his cup was clean such that he was able to clean out the cups of others and drive out their indwelling sin? Is that indwelling sin then actually demons?May 8, 2006 at 3:40 am#13373malcolm ferrisParticipantIf sin can be reduced to indwelling demons then all that would be needed is to cast them out and you would never die, death is the penalty for sin.
The curse in Eden was not put on man, but on the earth for his sake.
By contrast the Serpent was cursed.
It all comes down to what we believe the sin nature to be.
It was the earth that was cursed, the earth that dies, the soul remains as we see when Jesus
rose from hell leading those souls that were imprisoned under the law of sin and death.May 8, 2006 at 10:46 pm#13406NickHassanParticipantQuote (malcolm ferris @ May 08 2006,04:40) If sin can be reduced to indwelling demons then all that would be needed is to cast them out and you would never die, death is the penalty for sin.

True Malcolm,
There is a scripture about demons being driven out and returning when they found it “unoccupied”.What does that mean? Should the “occupant” have been the Spirit of Christ?
Was he warning about deliverance being done without salvation being offered too?
Have you read Enoch as to the origin of demons- from the earthbound spirits of the progeny of the evil sons of God in Genesis 6?
They are subservient to Satan as Jesus showed when discussing the kingdom of Beelzebub.
Do all men, who naturally serve the prince of this world, have demons as part of that evil kingdom or not?
Perhaps we should start a forum on this?

I am no expert but it is apparent in the scriptures that the anointing of the Spirit of God is not exclusive to the redeemed. We are warned that many false annointed ones would be present at the end time. (Mt 24:24)
Many assume the anointing would be false on these ones, but if we look at the example of scripture we are told in the book of Jude for exampleJUDE 1:11
Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.Cain offered an excellent sacrifice, Corah was a carnal impersonator of Moses a genuine prophet, both worshipped God. Balaam was a false prophet who was anointed with the Spirit of God, yet went on to teach the people error. What he spoke in the name of the Lord was absolutely inspired of God.
What does this show us? That being anointed with the spirit of God is not unique to the true believer, look at those upon whom the spirit fell while Peter was speaking to them, these having not yet been baptised.
What is unique to the true believer is the seal of the Holy Spirit, so this is more than just an outward anointing, or even an anointing of the spirit. It is the indwelling of the spirit of God in the soul of the believer.
Peter tells us to be born again not of corruptible seed (the intellectual conception of man-made religion) but of incorruptible (the spiritually quickened word of Life) by the Word of God.I believe that upon baptism we recieve a trial of our faith to test us, and prove whether that word has found a real place of rest in us. Some seed falls on the path, some near the wall, some on good ground…
Jesus told the teachers and leaders that his word had no place in them, in other words it was not able to drop down from their minds into the soul, to bring forth eternal life. Why do I say the soul is what the Spirit of God seals? Because the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit (of the reborn) is Christ, and the soul is redeemed. The soul is sealed and cannot fail to be redeemed in the truly reborn.
Then the battle rages in the mind – the battle between the spirit of this world – trying to gain control by the weakness of the flesh and our natural senses; and the spirit of God in our souls – casting down all senses that are contrary to the Word of Truth.
We cannot win this battle if He is not in us, only the baptism of the Holy Spirit achieves this victory. But many recieve a false anointing and believe themselves to be saved, are even able to perform spiritual giftings in the name of Jesus Christ with great sucess and yet we find in Mt 7:22-23 Jesus denies them.
May 9, 2006 at 2:31 am#13414NickHassanParticipantHi Malcolm,
Mt 24.24
” For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible even the elect.”
This does not sound like a true anointing from God but rather false and demonic powers such as were shown by the magicians at the court of the Pharaoh.May 9, 2006 at 3:35 am#13415NickHassanParticipantHi Malcolm,
Balaam was a true prophet who God spoke to[Num 22.9]but his attitude of God and his role got him into strife with God. He was not led by the Spirit but by his own will.Paul showed the Galatians in Gal 5 16f that they were still living according to the flesh despite the fact that they were born of the Spriit. They had to learn to walk by the Spirit, which does not happen automatically but by crucifying the flesh and submision to the Word.
Gal 5.25
” If we live by the Spirit let us also walk by the Spirit”May 9, 2006 at 3:47 am#13416NickHassanParticipantHi Malcolm,
The Pharisees and lawyers did not plough their fields by the baptism of repentance of John and so they were not ready to receive new seed, and their weeds and tares were well established. Our soul is sealed but we still have our own spirit as well as the new Spirit of God. We can still be led by either.
Rom 8.16
” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God”May 9, 2006 at 4:14 am#13419malcolm ferrisParticipantBalaam was genuinely anointed as a prophet but false in what he taught.
Therefore he qualifies for the title false prophet, by the test of the words of Moses.
In Revelation Jesus commends them for trying those who say they are apostles and are not but are false apostles.
Matthew 7:22 they claim to have prophesied in his name and to have cast out devils in his name and to have done many wonderful works – Jesus does not say 'No you did not' he simply replies – 'I never knew you'…Jesus told the people that the Pharisess sat in Moses seat so to do whatever they told them, but not to do as they did. In other words so long as they told you to obey Moses you obey, but when they added their own traditions, then the people were not bound to those.
Their office in other words was genuine even if they were not.Caiphas the high priest the year of Jesus' crucifixion prophesied under a genuine anointing then consented in the crucifiction of the Lord.
The antichrist system that was foretold in the gospel is clearly seen today by the lesson of history to be not an anti-christian movement but rather a false Christianity.EZEKIEL 28:14
Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.He is (not was – still is) the anointed cherub that covers (religion is a covering – to attempt to cover the shame of our nakedness) When he came to Jesus in the wilderness to tempt him, he was able to show him things – by the anointing that he had.
We are told that if he mascerades as an angel of light, then not to be surprised if his ministers also do the same.May 9, 2006 at 5:53 am#13420NickHassanParticipantHi Malcolm,
And those of the antichrist were said in 1 Jn to have come out of us[the saved]May 9, 2006 at 9:45 am#13428malcolm ferrisParticipantQuote The Pharisees and lawyers did not plough their fields by the baptism of repentance of John and so they were not ready to receive new seed, and their weeds and tares were well established. True – but you do not become a goat from being a sheep, a goat is a goat, a sheep is a sheep – they came out from amongst us because they were not OF us, not sheep to start with, wolves in sheep's clothing.Rom 8.16
” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God”Quote And those of the antichrist were said in 1 Jn to have come out of us[the saved] MATTHEW 13:37
He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. There is no way that the parable of the wheat and tares is a personal illustration, we are dealing with the church as a whole. We are told the field is the world, not individuals.
The good seed are said to be the children of the kingdom – that is the whole bunch. The tares are the children of the wicked one, that is the whole bunch of them.
The harvest is the end of the world, that is pretty clear, the end of the world harvest.
The tare's end is to be burned, no ambiguity here.So what do we see in this parable therefore? God planted a church into the world, the devil came in behind him and planted his seed into the midst of this church. Result? A mixed crop.
The sower tells his servants not to root out the tares but to leave them until the harvest time. Then they are to be gathered together into bundles. (the ecumenical movement is achieving this very well, WCC)…
The tares are the children OF the wicked one, the wheat are the children OF the kingdom, the children OF GOD.
May 9, 2006 at 10:12 am#13429NickHassanParticipantHi Malcolm,
No I was no comparing it to the parable of the harvest.Tares are simply one kind of weed.
Jer 4.3
“..Break up your fallow ground and do not sow among thorns”May 28, 2006 at 10:08 pm#14292NickHassanParticipantHi,
Gen 22.8
“And Abraham said
'God will provide for Himself the Lamb for the burnt offering, my son”
v11'
“But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven '..
…now I know you fear God , since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me”God is not the lamb of God. The lamb is offered to God.
