Jesus honored the scriptures as the truth from God.

Jn 5
” ” You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me;”

Matthew 26:54
“How then will the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must happen this way?”

Mark 12:24
Jesus said to them, “Is this not the reason you are mistaken, that you do not understand the Scriptures or the power of God?

Men do not show the same respect and use them to justify their illusions.

2 Peter 3:16
as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.

The bible is the work of the powerful Spirit of God done through puny men.

'Thy Word is truth.'
Yes truth takes many forms-nature, history, wisdom, parables, prophecy and allegory to name a few.

But some seem to write off whole books such as Revelation because of the symbolic language as if it is not relevant truth. Or they proscribe certain verses such as Lk16 because of the same or other reasons.

We should not reject anything not proven to be false but learn from it.

“The more i study the word of God the more i see the need to understand symbolism, because it gives true meaning to the scriptures, when you think about it, Jesus spoke in parables and symbolic language many times and i have come to believe with out understanding the symbols used in the scriptures you absolute can not understand the Bible because it is a book of symbols.

fire………Judgement
tree………something that produces from itself.
eat ………to take to ones self.
Sea……….humanity
temples……human beings
beast……..mankind not yielding to God's Will
worm………the Snake nature in mans will
smoke……..the residue that remains after judgements

moon………reflected light from God (Jesus)
Image……..reflect or to mirror
Lamps……..Spirit
root………that which something comes from
Creatures…. each living creature represents a work of man

Hills……..less important things in our lives.
robes……..our lives
blood……..life
wind………Spirit force

These are just some of what i believe the meannings are. If you have other lets talk about them or about the ones i have mentioned.

While it is true that some of these symbols may apply at times
should we allow our personal view to restrict the understandings of others to those confines?
