Testimony!
Truth in Scripture!
First let us define “TESTIMONY” in secular terms:
Princeton Education: Testimony:
1 ) (n) testimony (a solemn statement made under oath).
a ) witness (testimony by word or deed to your religious faith),
b ) declaration ((law) unsworn statement that can be admitted in evidence in a legal transaction) “his declaration of innocence”,
c ) affidavit (written declaration made under oath; a written statement sworn to be true before someone legally authorized to administer an oath),
d ) testimonial [Related to: testimony] (of or relating to or constituting testimony),
e ) testify [Related to: testimony] (give testimony in a court of law).2 ) (n) testimony (an assertion offering firsthand authentication of a fact) “according to his own testimony he can't do it”,
a ) assertion, averment, asseveration (a declaration that is made emphatically (as if no supporting evidence were necessary)),
b ) testimonial [Related to: testimony] (of or relating to or constituting testimony),
c ) testify [Related to: testimony] (provide evidence for) “The blood test showed that he was the father”; “Her behavior testified to her incompetence”,
d ) testify [Related to: testimony] (give testimony in a court of law).3 ) testimony, testimonial (something that serves as evidence) “his effort was testimony to his devotion”,
a ) good authority (testimony by someone who should know) “I have it on good authority”,
b ) testament (strong evidence for something) “his easy victory was a testament to his skill”.Now let us define “TESTIMONY” in Biblical terms:
Old Testament: Testimony:
1 ) `Eduwth (feminine noun),
a ) testimony,
b ) witness.From:
1 ) `Ed (masculine noun),
a ) witness, testimony, evidence (of things),
b ) witness (of people).From:
1 ) `Uwd,
a ) (Qal) to bear witness, say again and again,
b ) (Hiphil) to testify, bear witness, to cause to testify, take or call as witness, record, invoke, to protest, affirm solemnly, warn, exhort or enjoin solemnly, admonish, charge,
c ) (Hophal) to protest, give warning.New Testament: Testimony:
1 ) Martyrion (neuter noun),
a ) testimony, witness, to be testified.From:
1 ) Martys (masculine noun),
a ) a witness, in a legal sense, an historical sense.
2 ) one who is a spectator of anything, e.g. of a contest.New Testament: Testimony:
1 ) Martyria (feminine noun),
a ) a testifying, report, record, witness,
b ) what one testifies, testimony, i.e. before a judge.From:
1 ) Martys (masculine noun),
a ) a witness, in a legal sense, an historical sense.
2 ) one who is a spectator of anything, e.g. of a contest.Testimony: “a testimony, witness,” is almost entirely translated “testimony” in both AV and RV.
The only place where both have “witness” is Act 4:33. In Act 7:44; Jam 5:3, the RV has “testimony” (AV, “witness”).
There is the “TRUTH” and the “PROOF” in the Bible. When Secularist and Athiest, ask where your “TRUTH” and “PROOF” is, their it is. The same “TESTIMONY” in the religious sense meets every “SECULAR” definition.
