Thank you for that definition of Repentance. I was just gonna ask about that. You know some people may not understand how or what they need to do to repent.
I believe that even after some are baptised they still sin everyday. We all sin everyday. I found this page on Heaven.Net “How do we stop sinning?” very helpful and is a great source for us to realise that Faith is important as well.

PhoenixMarch 3, 2007 at 6:17 pm#43553NickHassanParticipantHi P,
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and Acts 5 shows us must be treated in the same way and with the same respect as we treat God. To insult the work of God in the Word of God and in His servants and to oppose that Spirit and oppose and insult God. Discern carefully before despising what may be of God.March 3, 2007 at 6:19 pm#43554PhoenixParticipantHmmm… so disagreeing with a fellow believer could be blapsheme against the HS?
March 3, 2007 at 6:31 pm#43557NickHassanParticipantHi P,
Not so.
Paul and Peter did not share every understanding and there were disagreements between others to but they shared a love of God and His Christ and His teachings and they let love rule among them despite it. They did not oppose God at work among them.March 3, 2007 at 6:43 pm#43558PhoenixParticipantOk that sounds much better. Thank you
March 20, 2007 at 3:18 am#45599NickHassanParticipantHi,
Lk 13
” 1There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.2And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
3I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
Now these perished in the natural sense.
They were murdered and “accidents” happened to them and they died.
No mention of what happened after that.I would agree that these verses do not speak in the same way as matt 10
“28And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. “
June 22, 2007 at 6:59 pm#56210NickHassanParticipantHi,
Again we see new gospels that seem to require no repentance.
There are no true new gospels. For all have sinned[Rom3]
God is calling on all men to repent[Acts17]
Sins are washed away in repentance and water baptism.[Acts2]
Unless we repent we perish[Lk13]June 22, 2007 at 8:10 pm#56226acertainchapParticipantHi Nick
Agreed Repentance is essential we have to do it to be saved.

May I give my opinion on “repentance”?O, that we knew the sufficiency of Christ for everything! We are so anxious to pry men into the “Kingdom” that we invent various crowbars to get them in, all the while ignoring the great truth that the gospel is God’s power for salvation (Rom.1:16). We preach on all sorts of topics from sanitation to sanctification (ever tinkering with man himself) when the gospel is concerning His Son (Rom.1:3). In a word we are trying to “bring men to Christ,” when He would have us bring Christ to men!
How grand it is to fall back upon God Himself! He will see to it that everyone whom He has selected will be invited and justified and sanctified. And He does it in spite of all the stumbling blocks we put in the sinner’s way. Some preach law outright, some regeneration, some the spirit’s work, some baptism, some repentance — but none of these are good news; indeed, there is no good news apart from Christ.
Let it be our precious privilege to preach Christ crucified to those who know Him not; and to those who know Him, Christ glorified. Let Christ be first and Christ be last and Christ fill all between. Let us not look back and vaunt ourselves with, “I prayed, I repented, I was baptized, and I—,” but let us rather shout with the Apostle “no longer I, but CHRIST!” If I had a hand in my salvation it must needs contain a flaw, for I find failure fills everything I do. But if Christ alone deserves the crown, then all like Him is perfect and immutable. Some who repented fell away (Heb.6:6) and it was impossible to renew them again to repentance. Therefore the apostle exhorts them to leave repentance from dead works (Heb.6:1).
It is God’s purpose that in all things Christ should have the preeminence and that all fullness should dwell in Him. He is God’s fullness. He is our fullness. Both God and His saints are mutually and completely furnished in Christ (Col.1:19,20; 2:9,10).Blessings.
June 24, 2007 at 9:47 am#56325NickHassanParticipantHi CO,
God grants repentance first to Israel then to the gentiles.
But ALL must repent.
It is of the gospel.Acts 26:20
But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.
Acts 20:21
Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 2:4
Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?June 25, 2007 at 5:05 am#56425chosenoneParticipantNick.
Yes, in Acts, while still under the law, the Jews had to repent, they could not do so on their own. Notice in Romans 2:4 “…that the kindness of God is leading you to repentance? Notice the difference, it is “God leading you to…” You can't get there by your own efforts, “All is of God” (Ro.11-36).Blessings.
June 25, 2007 at 6:51 am#56449NickHassanParticipantHi CO,
Indeed God gives the grace to repent.
All men everywhere must repent.
Unless you repent
you perish.June 25, 2007 at 7:10 am#56454Not3in1ParticipantAsking for forgiveness of sins, and repenting of those sins is one of the first things I taught my children.
