Hi happyman
Please don't take this the wrong way, while it is demonstrated true that intercessory prayer is a waste of time, I have only admiration for those like you who think of the sick and demonstrate support for people in a time of need, but why do you call yourself the happyman? You seem to be the most miserably morbid contributor here! Perhaps if I knew you personally it would not seem so!?

As I say, I don't mean to put him down at all (apart from the nonsense about praying to a non-existent supernatural being which has been shown to make no difference). I think the world would be a better place with more concern for others in need, and I could certainly learn a lesson myself from him on that score. But judging by his morose writing style he does have the least fitting name on this board!Stuart

It is because of the atheist that the poor are not helped as much as they should. It is the atheist that steels the food sent to the third world countries in need.
The atheist says in his heart he never has enough! Sure their are those who claim to know God and are worse that atheist! But that doesn't justify the atheist.

Are YOU Stu so sure that their is NO Creator?
God allows evil to show evil. Hey! I know atheist or rather agnostics that are better people that MOST “Christians of the Harlot”!
You must have doubt in your own beliefs if not why waste your time HERE? The agnostics I know would never dream of wasting their time here…For WHAT…As you say there is NO PROOF so why waste your time?
Deep inside you at least WANT to believe. If not then you must really be bored with your atheist life!

Why do atheists need justifying? That is part of the fantasy world too, by the sound of it.Quote An Animal in an Animal kingdom

January 12, 2008 at 2:37 pm#78219thehappymanParticipantHi Everyone,
Stu, I love you, for being who you are, and what you have become. God shall open your eyes in ways of compassion. You cause more believers to seek out the truth and to open their eyes on how great Jehovah really is. Somewhere along life you must have faced a trial and failed, so you want someone to blame. And God is your focus. His understands and really cares for you. That is why he sent his son Jesus to Calvery for you and me. I too was lost in sin but Jesus took me in, and He is not a respecter of person. Stu, Jesus loves you and so do we, the body of Christ. One day we all shall become a spirit and in that, I am “thehappyman” knowing where I am going to spend eternity, and Hell isn't the place. Your picture doesn't fit you or does it ?
I am 4 truth , you changed your name, but you are still a beautiful person as before. Yes, 042767, We haven't heard from him / her but our prayers are on going.
Thank God for prayer. and this forum where we can express ourselves in our own faith. Please remember our brethren in Iraq and that region.
God bless you all , yes you too, Stu,

Well I have to admit that does sound happier than usual!I am afraid that I really have not faced any kind of trial as you suggest, and I am not out to blame anyone for anything in particular. I do not believe as you do that there is such a thing as a supernatural being called Jehovah, or anything else. If there was, and he was as described in the bible, I might then have something to get upset about, but there is not, so it is only the horrific actions done by humans in the name of their god that will exercise me.
Your kind words are misplaced, but kind they are all the same and I thank you for the sentiment.

January 15, 2008 at 6:49 am#78724thehappymanParticipantThese prayer request just came in !
Jon was diagnosed this past Friday with melanoma that has metastasized to his liver and spleen. Tumors are covering 80% of his liver; his prognosis is not good in the eyes of the doctors. He starts chemotherapy today. He's only 37. He and jis wife have 7 children between them. Please continue to pray for Jasmeen and her parents. She told them of her conversion to Christianity a week ago and her Christian friends lost all contact with her immediately afterwards. Her e-mail and her blog have been shut down and she has not been in school.
Please pray for Jeannette. This girl is lost and needs salvation. Pray also for me, that the Lord would put me in his perfect will.
Please pray for Don. He's a non-believer and he is dying of prostate cancer. He doesn’t have long to live. He needs salvation.
Bruce, Joanne, Tony and Skylar—Salvation, very moral people but not saved.
Charlie, Lillian,Willie,Addie—Also very moral but not saved. Their morality is actually a hindrance to their salvation. They don’t totally see themselves as sinners. Charlie really hates conservative, evangelical Christians with almost a demonic hate.In the name of Jesus we claim them all for Thy will.
January 15, 2008 at 6:55 am#78725Not3in1ParticipantI join you in prayer for all of these needs. I know it's not easy to suffer and be in pain.
Dear Father please attend these children. You're will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Please bring comfort to those who are weary, and joy to those who are suffering (even from uncertainty). Amen

'Their morality is a hindrence to their salvation!?' What a load of rot.

January 15, 2008 at 8:35 am#78734seek and you will findParticipantthehappyman Sorry so many people are so sick, God knows them all and knows what is in their best interest. We have to remember that they will all have another chance in the millenium, when Satan will be chained up and when only the whole truth is going to be taught by Jesus and the elect and the multitude that have washed their Robes in the Blood of Christ. Then Satan will be loosed again and will test for the last time. millions will go with Him it says. But their end result will be the lake of fire were all will be destroyed, including Satan and Antichrist.
So we will pray for all that they may be at peace and if God is willing will heal them.
Thank you so much happyman for all the good work you do. May God bless all of you and all people that need God so much. We ask it all in Jesus Christ Name. Mrs.
No, I being even ruder than that, I am laughing at it.Thinking of people in genuine need (as long as the support is known to the person) is completely commendable. I feel pain for the chap with metastised melanoma, and for the one with advanced prostate cancer. Although the outlook may not be a good one, prayer will make no medical difference. Proper oncological therapy just might, or even a spontaneous remission due to the immune system identifying the cancer cells and mounting a last-minute defense.
What I laugh at is the nonsense that says people need saving even though they are 'moral'. From what do they need saving? The myths of Adam and Eve and a talking snake? The original sin that Paul invented? Why can't good people be acknowledged rather than distributing lists of their names on the internet under the heading 'not saved'?
I also laugh at the lake of fire. The pope doesn't believe it, the Archbishop of Canterbury doesn't either. That doesn't disprove it, but if they're wrong then the Christian Afterlife Club is going to consist of a rather small population. 'Washing you robes in the blood of Christ' reads like a line from a B-grade horror movie. It is not very nice what revelation says about Jesus. Are you sure you want to believe that?
