Quote (lineon @ April 30 2008,04:01) Hi Stuart
You mean you do not know what makes a tree grow?Lineon.
Hi LineonIf you agree with seek and you will find that tree growth is a miracle, then I think you perhaps do not understand it. You could say that, for example you are well-versed in the astonishingly complex process of photosynthesis, and even can appreciate some possible evolutionary routes by which that adaptation, critical to all animal life, came about. If there is a miracle in there, at what point does it need to be invoked? Do you need a god of the gaps to step in and be a placeholder for a proper explanation? Is our lack of knowledge a reason to invoke a supernatural being? On the subject of beauty, our view of tree growth is so much more beautiful that it was even in Medieval times. We are dumbstruck by the 'ingenuity' (and clumsiness) of natural selection in its discovered manner of feeding the planet. To me, the alternative 'god did it', no matter when you say it, is death to that beauty. There is no need for it; it is the antithesis to curiosity.

This thread is about poetry, and I think poetry should have beauty. I am trying to see how your god allows you to see beauty. I feel no blinkers, except the ultimate limitations of human senses and sensibilities. Science is beautiful. Scientists who are also religious believers would agree, I think. Christian belief (especially biblical belief) can only impose limits, and I think beauty is very much dimmed in that view of the world. Maybe the benefits you feel outweigh the costs. Why live in a black-and-white world when there is a glorious continuum of grey, and colour too?

Greeting Stu….I must say your presentation was elequont and factual….especially your explanation of the life process of plant life…..And based on your reference to evolution I am sure you think this all came about through a big bang or some other THEORY….The process of photosythensis had an inventor…Who or What do you think that was….May 1, 2008 at 11:55 am#99490StuParticipantQuote (theodorej @ May 01 2008,23:50) Quote (Stu @ April 30 2008,08:12) Quote (lineon @ April 30 2008,04:01) Hi Stuart

Hi StuartI am suprised
That you are twisting my words
'Black and white' to suit your views
I did not mention 'live' and 'world'
If you did not understand
What I meant
Why not ask.You say poetry is about beauty
Then you would agree
Poetry is about uglyness
Poetry is about nursery rhyms
Poetry is about the blues
Poetry is about life
Then poetry is reality
And that is what we are talking about
Life and death
Black and whiteO man tell me
What is reality?
Tell me man.You are but a mere cell
You are dust
You are sand upon the sea shore
You are a speck in your solar system
It will take you ten life times and more
To travell across your system
Your neighbouring solar system
Is thirty life times and more away
How many solar systems are there?O man you are not the centre of the universe
You are a living cell
making your way home
Some die
Others live.
We are on our way home.lineon

I'm sure every girl dreamed of their Prince Charming already,
But I give a word of advice
Wait for your reality prince instead
And you won't get hurt
Don't get carried away with some
dream in a balloon
Because anyone with half a mind knows
Balloons burst, pop, poof!
A man that loves you
deserves a place in your heart
Because he will be willing to give his away to you
No matter is he's not so handsome
Or quite the knight in armor
He really is if he cares about your soul
Jump on this love and don't wait for Prince Charming
THat guy might just fall off his horse

And take a glimpse of your reality princeGolden Heart

Hi MandyRiddles=poetry
Maybe this will help
You should read between the lines. It does not say
Much about my poetry [ha-ha-ha].Good poetry should be understood
Maybe the poet is not undrstood
But his poetry should be understood.Song of Solomon
Was very difficult for me to understand
The Song seems OK now
But some parts
Still need a lot of my thoughts.Lineon
May 2, 2008 at 4:38 pm#99495Not3in1ParticipantHi Lin,
So much of the bible is symbolism that it is difficult to understand. Even the Songs cannot just be about love and sex, folks have to say her breasts stand for something political. Good grief. I tend to think Solomon just dug his women and wanted to write some soft porn (of the day).
May 2, 2008 at 5:26 pm#99496seek and you will findParticipantI rather sing a Song. Another one of my favorites is
LET THERE BE PEACE ON EARTH
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me,
Let there be peace on earth the peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father, Brothers all are we, let me walk with my Brothers
in perfect harmony.Let peace begin with me,
Let this be the moment now,
with every step I take, let this be my solemn vow,
To live each moment and give each moment in peaceful harmony,
Let there be peace on earth,
and let it begin with me. Let it begin with me.O wrote this out of my memory and I am not so sure about the ending.
Peace and Love Irene

I think politics and Law spoiled this, hey he offered Her all of her disire, Poor solomon, hook Line and sinker, thats anything?1Ki 10:13 And king Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside [that] which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants.
