Hi
I am a Born again Christian
though I want to talk about the pleasures of Sin
WHY DOES IT FEEL SO GOOD?
Though with Sin. I am aware of the consequences and most importantly how it affects my relationship with God
1 John 1 verse 9 N.C.V
But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done.
So this is not only a confession but A cry for help
My name is Alechenu Obiabothough i have a problem with sin in General Sexual immorality is a rather big one for me
I recently been watching a lot of porn. and often find myself commiting adultery in my heart and sinning sexually with women in my mind.
And often “overlook” Leviticus 15
It's like a “feeling” comes over me and i find myself sinning sexually although I have never commited adultery
I have always had a desire for Oriental women, Especially Japanese.
It's like I can't resist and often when i search porn I search Japanese and Asian Women
I search for things that I am ashamed of later
And always feel very low afterwards
I ask God for hlp with this but end up sinning anyway
I feel very lonely and often feel rather “distant” from God
Although I am working on it. and am a much better person than I was.
I know the dangers of backsliding Matthew 13 verse 43 – 45
Though Ignoring a problem would not make it go away
It seems like a repetetive cycle. sin – repent, sin – repent, sin – repent
So on and so on
If you can help contact me on [email protected]
I know i can not serve 2 masters I choose God but willingly do what he says is wrong
I really don't want to reap to the flesh
Peace and God bless all of you
October 10, 2009 at 5:54 am#149616seekingtruthParticipantBrother just don't give up.
I found that remembering that what I do hurts the Father just as it does earthly fathers when their children are doing something that will end badly for them. He is not depriving us of a good time, He is looking out for us when He tells us to flee from temptation.

Satan knows where we are weak, and he will attack us relentlessly.
Sex has even been a temptation for angels, Gen. 6:2.
Consider Paul, I am not suggesting he had the same problem as you do, but he was struggling with sin never the less, Rom. 7:15-25.
No matter how ashamed you may feel, never stop confessing your sin and asking God to not only to forgive you, but to give you the strength to overcome. Remember, God will never give up on you, so don't you give up on yourself.
Look for other things to occupy your mind.Georg

The first thing you need to do to break out of any particular behaviour pattern is to realise you are not a victim of circumstances but entirely in control of your actions. Then stopping – or starting – anything is considerably easier, because you haven't persuaded yourself you don't have a real choice before even starting.
You'd be surprised how much is in the human mind and what even a little willpower will do. Or maybe not, most people don't seem to realise it.
Incidentally I don't think people choose to do things they really hate doing as a general rule… except when they feel they have to (washing dishes for instance).

we are surrounded by Sin and it's influence
So by Submitting to Holy Spirit. And focusing on Jesus
Would we then be able to live a Sinless life?

Hi there. I'm not sure if you are still having issues with this but if not, this may be of help to someone else. God says that the flesh is weak. There is always temptation surrounding us and evil spirits talking to us. If you continue to read the bible and pray diligently, those feelings will be lessened. Because while the flesh is weak, the spirit that lives in us is strong: “Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world.” You can't fight flesh except with the holy spirit. The holy spirit is built by hearing the word of God. So read and study your bible. And resist temptation. “Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 5:7. Hi Kittey,Welcome to h-net!
Eph.6:10-17 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against
the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take
unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done
all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate
of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking
the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take
the helmet of salvation, and “the sword of the Spirit”, which is “the word of God”:(Rev.19:11-21)Witnessing to the world in behalf of YHVH (Psalm 45:17)

Greetings Apologist…..As you know we are all human and we have our frailties….Confession is good for the heart many went before Jesus during his ministry and bared their soul in a public forum while seeking strength to change and forgivness…I applaud the courage of these kind of individuals…December 2, 2010 at 6:28 am#227347ShaniaParticipantIf you really wanna kick this habit, I would recommend telling someone about it face to face. Preferebly a church leader of yours or a brother who can keep you accountable. If you are married, you need to tell your wife. Also, I know that there are churches who have small groups that deal with this issue: kind of like AA. You need accountability and you need to be aggressive and confrontational in overcoming it. This could destroy you. Just like an alcoholic, get rid of everything you can that is an avenue to porn. Get rid of your home computer. Only use the internet in public.
It is good that you want to overcome! Like others have said, stay in the word! He loves you so much!December 2, 2010 at 7:30 am#227349ProclaimerParticipantMost sin feels good because when such things are done correctly, they are suppose to be rewarding.
e.g., sex in marriage is suppose to feel good and outside of marriage it should (technically) feel the same, but emotionally different. Put it another way.Why would God make it pleasureable in marriage and not outside of marriage. No it is pleasurable full stop, but there is a right way and a wrong way with everything.
Take drugs for example. We know that people take them because it makes them feel good. So is taking drugs bad?
It depends on the motive. If I take cough medicine to get rid of a cough, or take a pin killer to get relief from back pain, then that can be beneficial. But if I drink the whole bottle of medicine or take a whole [pack of pain killers to feel out of it, then that is not because in a sense you are trying to get drunk on these things and so are not using them for their good purpose.
I drink coffee everyday. It makes me more alert. But too much coffee is bad.
I drink a little wine, but too much is bad. I eat food, but too much is bad.All things in moderation and for the right reason.
A knife can be used to heal and to kill. It is all about motive and the heart.
Now if there is a sin that you cannot overcome, then the best thing to do is admit your weakness which you obviously have. In the case you describe, these feelings are there to draw you into marriage. Sure it is not the only reason, but it is a reason all the same.
Also, the only time that we actually do not sin is when we do acts of faith because anything that is not of faith is sin. My point here is that you are not the only one who struggles with sin, we all do. But one way to overcome sin is to be led by the Spirit because when you are led, you are not sinning. If you go the library or something as lame as that, and you don't have faith, then you are in sin as well.
Remember it may seem hopeless but we have a covenant and if we confess our sins, he is FAITHFUL to forgive and cleanse us. Someone once said to Jesus how many times should I forgive my brother 7 times, and Jesus said no, seventy times seven. Don't take this number literally, but realise that God will forgive you again and again.
One word of warning regarding God's grace. Don't say in your heart, I will sin tomorrow because God will forgive me. No God forgives genuine repentance time and time again.
You just need faith, confession, and repentance. When you fall, then get back up again.
God is love. He forgives. He is graceful. Those who love much have many sins forgiven. Those who are devious or arrogant have little.Be of good cheer because you have a covenant with God.

hi Ketteywelcome,
first thing first ,never look for things you do not want,
because they will stay in your mind longer.we all have to put rules in our lives and use self control to stay in line with scriptures ,and that is the inner fight, but it will not fail if we really want to overcome the world and is desires.
it seems you have time on your hands ? if so read the scriptures more often instead of seeing other things////
pray, many things can be done but the question is do we really want to change???if yes well then do it.and work for it it is for God and you.

December 2, 2010 at 11:11 am#227364Tim KraftParticipantKitty: You have been given many answers from well meaning people. You have not received many scriptures from God/Jesus about sin.
In the new testament in Matthew, Mark and Luke the word sin is only used three times. Religion has told you that pornography is a sin, I guess. So this means looking at Gods creation without clothes on is sin? Or is it, thinking about having sex is a sin? Do the thoughts about procreation have to be kinky to be sin? Is looking at a portrait pornogrophy? Is any form of sexual arousal in mind a sin? How about with a wife? A former wife? An engaged woman? A widow? You can't procreate without mental sexual arousal!
So of all the answers given to this misunderstood individual no one has set her free like Jesus did. Here are a few scriptures that might help to set you free from believing that sexual arousal is a sin:…Jesus took away the sin of the world (which is religious wrong thinking) John1:29–
…by the law is the knowledge of sin…born again christians are not under the law…Rom3:20
…sin is not imputed where there is no law…No sin is held against you apart from the law…Rom5:13..
….being made free from sin..Rom.6:18……If you believe it is sin then for you it is. Sexual arousal is not a sin!!!
Jesus manifested to take away our sin…1John3:5…
Jesus appeared to put away sin…Heb.9:26….
You have now been made free from sin…Rom8:2
There are many more scripture truth that will set you free from religious lies of sin and darkness. God has done a great work for you to walk in the light with him. Through great love has he provided the sacrifice to cleans you, and make you whole in the truth. Sin is believing lies of wrong doing. Don't sin and you will live as you choose in peace with God. God Bless you, TK
P.S. Satan/lies/deception and untruth from religion will come IMMEDIATELY to steal the truth of your perfect cleansing. Please hold fast to the scriptures.

December 3, 2010 at 5:51 am#227450ShaniaParticipantI'm sorry TK, but I find a lot of what you wrote to be really dangerous. Sexual thoughts about someone who is not your spouse is sin. Are you saying that when you are a believer, you can do immoral things and it is not sin because you are not under the law? Grace does not nullify the law, it upholds it. Do you think that I can commit murder and it not be sin if my conscience does not condemn me? (b/c I am under grace?)
Paul addressed sin in the church. That means that believers were in sin and it was not ok. He had to address it for their own good- so that they would repent and be forgiven and move on to walk in righteousness. These believers did not feel guilty about it, but that did not mean that they weren't in sin.
Sin in the church: Believers CAN and DO sin, and it is addressed:
1 Cor 5:1-2
5:1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that does not occur even among pagans: A man has his father's wife . 2 And you are proud! Shouldn't you rather have been filled with grief and have put out of your fellowship the man who did this?
NIV1 Cor 5:6-8
6 Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough? 7 Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast — as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8 Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth.
NIV1 Cor 5:9-11
9 I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11 But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.
NIVSo there are people that think they are bretheren but are not b/c their hearts are not right. They are doing these things and refusing repentance.
1 Cor 6:7-10
7 The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? 8 Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers. (sin among believers: its a real thing. It happens.)
9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
NIV{so if you do these things and don't repent, you will not enter}
1 Cor 6:11
11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
NIV (This gives us hope. You can be washed and made brand new no matter what you've done. Sanctified means set apart. So obviously they are set apart from the things they used to do. They aren't doing those things anymore. That is real repentance.1 Cor 6:18-19
18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. (again: written to believers)
NIV1 Cor 6:18-20
19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
NIV
(said to believers)
Matt 5:27-2827 “You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery .' 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
NIV
(new covenant is a higher standard)
Rom 3:28-29
28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law.
NIV-you quoted this and it is true, but the new covenant is actually a higher standard than the law b/c it is walking in love- in the spirit of Messiah. So at the end of that paragraph, we have this verse:
Rom 3:30-31
31 Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law .
NIVDecember 3, 2010 at 7:41 am#227458shimmerParticipantQuote (Shania @ Dec. 03 2010,17:51) I'm sorry TK, but I find a lot of what you wrote to be really dangerous. Sin seperates us from God.
Take for example what you said here, sexual thoughts about someone else who is not your partner.
Firstly, what is considered a marriage ?
To say a couple are 'living in sin' because they are not “legally wed' is rubbish.
Marriage is not a piece of paper – Marriage is when it is consumated. (Or considering what Jesus said it could also very well be when two single people lust after each other….I dont know) ?
And the only allowance for divorce/remarriage or being with someone else in the New Testement apart from death is if your partner commits adultery, or if you are abandoned.
Considering all of that, Adultery which is a sin changed….
Jesus said – “You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery;' but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.'
When the Holy Spirit leads you, you learn what is right and wrong and stop sinning, you become aware of sin as you read scripture. You become a 'new you'. There is no excuse once you know. You are sinning and it needs to stop.
Thats what scripture says.
