well thanks yall let us pray God will send the right ones to the world

Pascals wager is a terrible argument.
It can just as easily be used by a Jew, a Muslim, a Hindu
or any other religious organization and carry the exact same weight.

Sorry, I meant to quote Douglas in my response above.
Douglas said “Pascal's wager isn't actually that bad an argument, but nothing is quite as good as a nice solid proof. “

I don't know if that is a bad thing?

Are you saying that the Jews, Christians, and Muslims don't boil down to the same god? The concept of a single god is there in all three, and isn't it the same idea in each instance? I have a feeling Hinduism might be polytheistic, where my argument breaks down somewhat.

I think the wager sums up the idea that you have nothing to lose and everything to gain and that therefore you might as well roll the dice and believe in something – in case you're correct. Doesn't matter which religion.

Personally if I were to subscribe to a religion it would be simply “truth”.

With all that is going on in this world, it is sad that most believe in the trinity doctrine. We are in the last days and if that is so, the whole world will be deceived. And really the majority are!!! IMO
But why argue about that? Is it not common knowledge that there are many different denomination?
I believe that God's Church is Spiritual at the present. It says that we to worship in Spirit and in Truth.

Only the last days for most people.

Something I will quote, possibly not word for word, but hopefully close: “It is not necessary to build churches, but instead you should worship through goodwill”.

However, I take it as more of a 'future' thing rather than a 'now' thing, I have to admit.

The Christians say that the only way to God is through Jesus.
The Jews and Muslims say nothing of the kind.

So according to Cristians, if you roll the dice and believe in the wrong one, you are going to hell for eternity. So the Jews are going to hell, as are the Muslims and the Hindus according to Christians. And the Christians are going to hell according to the others.

Does this boil down to the same God in your mind?

As do all of the others in their mind.
What makes you so positive that you are right and they are wrong?

They are just as sure that they believe in the one true God,
and that it is you who are deceived.

    Tim, right.

So then we say that the Bible is the only “inspired” and true holy text. That's the next logical step…..and where does that leave us?

    Yes, I'd say so.

The general principles are close enough, if you show a bunch of people something, say – a giraffe – then wait hundreds or thousands of years, translate what they tell each other and remember through multiple languages and multiple retellings, I could see they'd argue a great deal about exactly what it was the original people were presented with.

Personally, I discount the vast majority of what people say and think.

I suppose if it helped I could invent another term for what I'm describing? If you require God to necessarily be all powerful, all knowing, only accessible through Jesus, then I guess I'd be better off finding another word that avoids confusion and immediate misinterpretation.

Is the word “Christian” the word that you would find another word for?

No. The word “God” is the one I suggest a replacement for.

How about “non human external entity possessing intelligence and memory, often ascribed supreme (or at least overwhelming) knowledge and/or power, and responsibility over human affairs”?

Only thing is, it's a lot easier to type “God”. It's the baggage that comes with the word that's unhelpful.

I couldn't agree more, but it's not helpful nonetheless.
