Also you are declaring the atheist philosophy as correct do whatever you want because there is no punishment you will simply die and that's it. If what you were saying was true judgement would be meaningless what would be the point of raising someone up for judgement to tell them to simply go back to death where they were already?
We are all going to go to sleep when we die and then the judgement will come, you seem to believe the judgement has no consequences but I assure you simply not existing can not be a punishmet as a punishment can only take place in a conscious being.
So are you saying that God's decision that the wages of sin is death are not GOOD enough? And that God should do MORE? And that God should eternally punish people in agony for all of eternity? Is this not MANS idea of punishment, well, not even a normal man but an insane one?
Think about it Bod.
God does not change. God does not hold His anger forever. That is in the Scriptures too.
Do you believe that God is love?
Can you define love for me please thank you!
I really want you to “feel good” but the fact is there are consequences to the actions of people. may not like the concept of Hell but that doesn't make it go away.Yes, indeed there are consequences to actions and that consequence is death and also personal suffering, but through Jesus Christ, man was given the chioce and the gift of eternal life IF they obeyed Him and obeyed God, and KNEW them.
The Quran's description of 'Hell', Bod, is not the same as the God who is Love.
Why can't you see this?
Quote Your idea of Hell is non-existence and to be honest with you I woud rather suffer and be somewhat alive than not to exist who knows as you said God does not hold his anger forever and may let someone out of hell but to completely cause someone to non-exist is both not a punishment and the most cruel of all Why is it the most cruel of all? Isn't the Quran's description of being burnt alive forever and ever 'more cruel'??
Look what it says in the Scriptures:
1Cor 13,
Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude.
Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends1John 4,
He who does not love does not know God; for God is love.
In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.
In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
No man has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his own Spirit.
And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Savior of the world.
Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
So we know and believe the love God has for us. GOD IS LOVE, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
In this is love perfected with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so are we in this world.
THERE IS NO FEAR IN LOVE BUT PERFECT LOVE CASTS AWAY FEAR. FOR FEAR HAS TO DO WITH PUNISHMENT, AND HE WHO FEARS IS NOT PERFECTED IN LOVE.
WE LOVE BECAUSE HE FIRST LOVED US.November 12, 2012 at 10:25 am#3199262beseeParticipantQuote (bodhitharta @ Nov. 12 2012,11:45) …as you said God does not hold his anger forever and may let someone out of hell… But this is not what the QURAN says is it Bod, the Quran explicitly states that those who are in hell will be tormented and burnt “alive” forever!
But the Bible says:
Micah 7:18
He does not retain his anger for ever
because he delights in steadfast love.
He will again have compassion upon us,
he will tread our iniquities under foot.
Thou wilt cast all our sins
into the depths of the sea.Isaiah 57:15
For thus says the high and lofty One
who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
“I dwell in the high and holy place,
and also with him who is of a contrite and humble spirit,
to revive the spirit of the humble,
and to revive the heart of the contrite.
For I will not contend for ever,
nor will I always be angry;
for from me proceeds the spirit,
and I have made the breath of life.
Because of the iniquity of his covetousness I was angry,
I smote him, I hid my face and was angry;
but he went on backsliding in the way of his own heart.
I have seen his ways, but I will heal him;
I will lead him and requite him with comfort,
creating for his mourners the fruit of the lips.
Peace, peace, to the far and to the near, says the LORD;
and I will heal him.Ezekial 18:23
Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, says the Lord GOD, and not rather that he should turn from his way and live?
But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity and does the same abominable things that the wicked man does, shall he live? None of the righteous deeds which he has done shall be remembered; for the treachery of which he is guilty and the sin he has committed, he shall die.“Yet you say, `The way of the Lord is not just.' Hear now, O house of Israel: Is my way not just? Is it not your ways that are not just?
When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, he shall die for it; for the iniquity which he has committed he shall die.
Again, when a wicked man turns away from the wickedness he has committed and does what is lawful and right, he shall save his life.
Because he considered and turned away from all the transgressions which he had committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
Yet the house of Israel says, `The way of the Lord is not just.' O house of Israel, are my ways not just? Is it not your ways that are not just?“Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, says the Lord GOD. Repent and turn from all your transgressions, lest iniquity be your ruin.
Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed against me, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of Israel?
For I have no pleasure in the death of any one, says the Lord GOD; so turn, and live.”How do you reconcile the very obvious differences?
As a reminder,
The Quran:
Those who reject our Signs, We shall soon cast into the fire: as often as their skins are roasted through, We shall change them for fresh skins, that they may taste the penalty: for Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise.
( سورة النساء , An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #56)If a man kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is hell, to abide therein (For ever): And the wrath and the curse of Allah are upon him, and a dreadful penalty is prepared for him.
( سورة النساء , An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #93)They (his dupes) will have their dwelling in hell, and from it they will find no way of escape.
( سورة النساء , An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #121)Except the way of hell, to dwell therein for ever. And this to Allah is easy.
( سورة النساء , An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #169)On the Day when heat will be produced out of that (wealth) in the fire of hell, and with it will be branded their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, their flanks, and their backs.- “This is the (treasure) which ye buried for yourselves: taste ye, then, the (treasures) ye buried!”
( سورة التوبة , At-Taubah, Chapter #9, Verse #35)Allah hath promised the Hypocrites men and women, and the rejecters, of Faith, the fire of hell: Therein shall they dwell: Sufficient is it for them: for them is the curse of Allah, and an enduring punishment,-
( سورة التوبة , At-Taubah, Chapter #9, Verse #68)In front of such a one is hell, and he is given, for drink, boiling fetid water.
( سورة إبراهيم , Ibrahim, Chapter #14, Verse #16)If any do wish for the transitory things (of this life), We readily grant them – such things as We will, to such person as We will: in the end have We provided hell for them: they will burn therein, disgraced and rejected.
( سورة الإسراء , Al-Isra, Chapter #17, Verse #18)It is he whom Allah guides, that is on true Guidance; but he whom He leaves astray – for such wilt thou find no protector besides Him. On the Day of Judgment We shall gather, them together, prone on their faces, blind, dumb, and deaf: their abode will be hell: every time it shows abatement, We shall increase from them the fierceness of the Fire.
( سورة الإسراء , Al-Isra, Chapter #17, Verse #97)But those who reject (Allah) – for them will be the Fire of hell: No term shall be determined for them, so they should die, nor shall its Penalty be lightened for them. Thus do We reward every ungrateful one! Therein will they cry aloud (for assistance): “Our Lord! Bring us out: we shall work righteousness, not the (deeds) we used to do!” – “Did We not give you long enough life so that he that would should receive admonition? and (moreover) the warner came to you. So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds): for the wrong-doers there is no helper.”
( سورة فاطر , Fatir, Chapter #35, Verse #36-37)Those in the Fire will say to the Keepers of hell: “Pray to your Lord to lighten us the Penalty for a day (at least)!”
( سورة غافر , Ghafir, Chapter #40, Verse #49)Those who reject the Book and the (revelations) with which We sent our messengers: but soon shall they know,- When the yokes (shall be) round their necks, and the chains; they shall be dragged along – In the boiling fetid fluid: then in the Fire shall they be burned; And burning in hell-Fire.
( سورة غافر , Ghafir, Chapter #40, Verse #71-72)“Unless I proclaim what I receive from Allah and His Messages: for any that disobey Allah and His Messenger,- for them is hell: they shall dwell therein for ever.”

Even in his parable about lazarus and the rich man Jesus describes hell as an actual place where this rich man is in torment
Luke 16:19-25
King James Version (KJV)
19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

יהוה חאלהים (JEHOVAH GOD)
עד (Joshua 22:34) Ed (Witness)November 14, 2012 at 7:59 am#3202532beseeParticipantHi Bod,
Submission to the only true God, as is seen in Islam, is an admirable thing to those who do know, and it is something which, once it is learnt, cannot ever be let go of.
But surely you know – somewhere deep inside- that the God of Islam does not sound at all like the God of Christianity.
And by 'the God of Christianity' I do not mean the God of Christianity as is taught of by the majority of Christians today, but I am meaning the truth as is taught by Jesus and by the Disciples. The one who Jesus introduced as the only true God – His God and their God – His Father and their Father, THE GOD, not some trinity and not some binity of two or three gods (whom they say is a 'mystery' and then go on to claim that only 'those with their degree of grammar and education can understand it' !!!) lol……….
Anyway, we know that God is not two or three Gods, because even someone who has never read the Old Testament and who has only read the New Testament can see clearly that Jesus calls God the only true God. We know that Jesus is the SON of that God. We also know that only Jesus came down from Heaven. And we know that due to the Spirit which was in Him (God in Him) He spoke the words of GOD and only He had the absolute truth.
We know that in Scriptures, there is agreement in the NT. We have the testimony of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and we know that it takes faith to believe it as true (Jesus asks will He find any faith on earth when He returns?
Now we know too that the majority of Christianity believes also in an eternal hell of conscious torment much like what is written in the Quran, but with this they err. You see, Jesus came to bring change. He came for the lost, for the meek, for the humble, for the least and He told them all that what was required was the circumcision of the heart.
The whole law meaning the ten commandments was summed up with one word. Divide the ten commandments into half and you have five commandments about God and five commandments about 'neighbor' and for both – there is one word and that word is love.
How can you love God and how can you love your neighbor if all which is done is for personal reasons only?
Just say there was a boy, and his father was a drunkard and he was abusive and bad. And the boy feared him and so the boy obeyed whenever he was around his father for fear of what he could do… Is that love? Do you think that maybe sometimes that child would look at other kids with their dads and feel a bit upset and not feel that something was lacking? And wonder why he feels so sad? Now if his father decided to give him some money if he behaved, then sure, that boy wants the money – so he will behave. But is that true?
Christianity and Islam have both turned God into a monster. It began with the earliest writings (The 'Church Fathers') and continued on to Islam.
First I want to deal with this aspect of the Qurans teachings, and then I want to move onto Jesus as the Son of God and also the death of Jesus, okay. But I am gone for this week so I will have to put it on hold a while.
Somethings to think about anyway bod, and I hope that you do.
November 14, 2012 at 8:27 am#3202632beseeParticipantHi Bod,
Lazarus and the rich man….
Jesus spoke in parables (analogies/similes/representations and stories – which could even be fables), but each parable was used to illustrate a certain TRUTH.
The Disciples questioned His use of Parables:
“The disciples came and said to him, “Why do you speak to them in parables?”
And he answered them, “To YOU it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to THEM it has NOT been given.”“THIS IS WHY I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.
With them indeed is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah which says:
`You shall indeed hear but never understand,
and you shall indeed see but never perceive.
For this people's heart has grown dull,
and their ears are heavy of hearing,
and their eyes they have closed,
LEST they should perceive with their eyes,
and hear with their ears,
and understand with their heart,
and turn for me to heal them.'But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear. (Matthew 13).
Lazarus and the rich man is a parable!
See if you can tell me the meaning.

When Jesus returns he will separate the 'Sheep' from the 'Goats'.
He will separate the good from the bad.
The Sheep are those who did good, while the Goats did wrong.

(1) muhammad is no more than a messenger: many Were the messenger that passed away before him. If he died or were slain, will ye then Turn back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah; but Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve Him) with gratitude.
( سورة آل عمران , Aal-e-Imran, Chapter #3, Verse #144)
(Arabic, Transliteration, Urdu, Yusuf Ali, Shakir, Picthal, Mohsin Khan, French, Spanish, Indonesian, Malay, German, Bosnian, Russian)

(Arabic, Transliteration, Urdu, Yusuf Ali, Shakir, Picthal, Mohsin Khan, French, Spanish, Indonesian, Malay, German, Bosnian, Russian)
(4) muhammad is the messenger of Allah; and those who are with him are strong against Unbelievers, (but) compassionate amongst each other. Thou wilt see them bow and prostrate themselves (in prayer), seeking Grace from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure. On their faces are their marks, (being) the traces of their prostration. This is their similitude in the Taurat; and their similitude in the Gospel is: like a seed which sends forth its blade, then makes it strong; it then becomes thick, and it stands on its own stem, (filling) the sowers with wonder and delight. As a result, it fills the Unbelievers with rage at them. Allah has promised those among them who believe and do righteous deeds forgiveness, and a great Reward.
