Unfortunately I got myself involved in a debate and now I think I may have disputed wrongly somehow. I read the NIV bible and I honestly felt comfortable with it. When i used it to show a scripture to prove something, someone showed me how the NIV was twisted…when i first read it I thought it still showed me the same story in all and that it wasnt twisted. When i read it again I feel that it is a bit twisted.
Below are the scriptures someone showed me.
John 3:18 (Wycliffe New Testament)
18 He that believeth in him, is not deemed; but he that believeth not, is
now deemed [He that believeth into him is not deemed, or condemned;
forsooth he that believeth not, is now condemned], for he believeth not in
the name of the one begotten Son of God.John 3:18 (King James Version)
18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is
condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only
begotten Son of God.John 3:18 (Darby Translation)
18He that believes on him is not judged: but he that believes not has been
already judged, because he has not believed on the name of the only-
begotten Son of God.John 3:18 (New American Standard)
18″He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been
judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only
begotten Son of God.John 3:18 (Young's Literal Translation)
18he who is believing in him is not judged, but he who is not believing
hath been judged already, because he hath not believed in the name of the
only begotten Son of God.Now notice the subtle, sneaky tampering in the NIV version:
John 3:18 (New International Version)
18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe
stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's
one and only Son.So some help please. Thanks

Hi Phoenix:2 Timothy 2:24 states: “And a servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach…”.
From personal experience if you have a different understanding than someone is teaching if you approach them about this you should do so with the attitude that it might be you that is wrong, and not trying to prove your point.
If am understanding from the posts that I have read, you made a statement that you have not been born again. Hopefully, you have been since I read that statement. This has to come first before you ever begin to understand the scriptures.
2 Timothy 2:15 states: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a worman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”.
I hope that this helps.
God Bless

Wander to the front page of the site and to the passage lookup and put in a verse or two. As you love scripture you may like go to keyword search and put in a word like Love or light or Spirit and take a stroll through the rich smorgasbord God has spread for you in the New and the Old all blending and harmonising and adding beauty to the whole. Bon Appetit.February 17, 2007 at 8:41 am#41877PhoenixParticipantThankyou guys
