Will there be marriage and birth and children in heaven?
July 13, 2005 at 5:51 pm#7759chickenParticipantjust want to know if there will be marriage and giving birth to children in heaven?
July 13, 2005 at 7:32 pm#7761NickHassanParticipantHi, Does scripture say we go to heaven? I don't think so. We go to the Father's House [Jn14]and then the bride comes to the new earth.
We will be like to angels according to scripture-that appears to be ordinary asexual angels rather than the “sons of God” who did have sexual powers as shown in Genesis 6.
But there are strong hints that marriage as established here is a permanent [re]union and that is why we are urged to not divorce. The two become one [1Cor7]and this is compared with Christ and his church in Ephesians-they never divide do they?
But no suggestion that further unions are made beyond the grave. Our new heavenly body does not reproduce as that gift was only given to fill up the numbers that God saves.July 13, 2005 at 7:42 pm#7762NickHassanParticipantps

I think Nick's mentioning Matt is the clearest passage on this subject….Matthew 22:23-30 ESV The same day Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no resurrection, and they asked him a question, (24) saying, “Teacher, Moses said, 'If a man dies having no children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up children for his brother.' (25) Now there were seven brothers among us. The first married and died, and having no children left his wife to his brother. (26) So too the second and third, down to the seventh. (27) After them all, the woman died. (28) In the resurrection, therefore, of the seven, whose wife will she be? For they all had her.”
(29) But Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God. (30) For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.”
