    I think a Major discovery might be when the world admitt's that religion has been swift enough to remove the first years of brilliant science only to merge it into a bible. Its done nothing but hold up knowledge an crush it as if its evil. an their credit to be given.

    seven Days of week 12 months to a year;

    Charity. You sound very bitter. Did you have a bad experience and never recover from it or something.

    Tim, yes I do a lot of smiling on here.
    I am sure that people think I am serious most of the time, but I honestly find a lot of this amusing.

    charity. You do not make much sense to me.

    Many of the greatest breakthroughs in Physics and Astronomy were made by men who had a good faith in God.

    Their passion was to discover more about God and all that he made.

    Nicholas Copernicus, Johannes Kepler, Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, Robert Boyle, Michael Faraday, Gregor Mendel, William Thomson Kelvin, Max Planck. Even Albert Einstein recognised an eternal spirit. However, he may not have thought it possible to know that spirit.

    Tell us about the physics or astronomy breakthroughs of Gregor Mendel, t8!

    Tell us how much other religious people helped Galileo to publish his science (and how long it took some of them to apologise for his mistreatment at their hands).

    As the examples you copied and pasted mostly lived before Darwin, or were his contemporaries, perhaps you can explain the difference that Darwin made to the rates of god belief amongst scientists.

    Could you maybe compare and contrast your list with this one, also significant physicists and astronomers:
    Svante Arrhenius
    Hans Bethe
    Niels Bohr
    James Chadwick
    Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar
    Francis Crick
    Pierre Curie
    Paul Dirac
    Arthur Eddington
    Thomas Edison
    Richard Feynman
    Edmond Halley
    Stephen Hawking
    Peter Higgs
    Joseph Louis Lagrange
    Pierre-Simon Laplace
    Ernst Mach
    J. Robert Oppenheimer
    Sir Roger Penrose
    Henri Poincaré
    Carl Sagan
    Erwin Schrödinger
    William Shockley
    James D. Watson
    Steven Weinberg

    What do you think they say their passion was? The thing they share in common is that they have been public about their view that they are NOT discovering anything about any gods in their work.

    And, although I would never have the brass neck to speak for Einstein, I think you should provide us with a reference for him “recognising an eternal spirit”. He wasn't a deist. I don't think you really grasp what Spinoza's god is about. He certainly considered your kind of religious belief childish and laughable, and he was irritated to see people mention his name in support of their religious cause, as you appear to have done.

    And, finally, perhaps you could explain to us what difference the fantasy superstitious theories held personally by some scientists make to their “breakthroughs”. Give us one example of a scientific theory that is incomplete without the use of the word “god”. Give us a single example of a principle of science that requires the word god in a proper explanation of something – anything.

    Thanks.

    Stuart

    Hey Stu, there are many great scientists that are Atheists too.
    And they are passionate about the universe and how things work.
    They might not like God, but they really dig what he has made.

    God is awesome, even if he gets no recognition from some.

    What god?

    The abomination of an Imaginary Friend that killed Uzzah who was only trying to help, and killed all the women, children and most animals living on the earth 4500 years ago, and punished Eve and Lot's wife for exercising the human curiosity it gave them?

    If you believe that Sky Pixie exists, you'd believe that since buses have designers therefore the universe has one too.

    Which is a logical nonsense.

    I guess that is your “answer” to my questions on the previous page.

    You're not very keen on establishing your brand of christianity as relevant, worthwhile or even true, are you.

    I guess it's an optional delusion.

    Actually I think God is aweful.
    Not some awe, but full of awe.

    “‘You were the seal of perfection,
       full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
    You were in Eden,
       the garden of God;
    every precious stone adorned you:
       carnelian, chrysolite and emerald,
       topaz, onyx and jasper,
       lapis lazuli, turquoise and beryl.
    Your settings and mountings were made of gold;
       on the day you were created they were prepared.
    You were anointed as a guardian cherub,
       for so I ordained you.
    You were on the holy mount of God;
       you walked among the fiery stones.
    You were blameless in your ways
       from the day you were created
       till wickedness was found in you.

    And now you have converted to some kind of New Age belief in crystal healing.

    Are your chakras aligned within your energy grid, t8?
