Jesus say;Mt 5:44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
Lk 6:27 “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
Lk 6:35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.what is it that we should do ?or what is this imply ?
is it our physical actions or our spiritual thoughts OR BOTH ?
that are required here.what you think??

It would be both since if one sees a person in need and has the way to aid them but instead states I will pray for you and does nothing to aid them commits a sin.
We learn from it and more.

Lev 19:18 “ ‘Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.
Mt 5:43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’
Mt 19:19 honor your father and mother,’ and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’’”
Mt 22:39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
Mk 12:31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
Mk 12:33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
Lk 10:27 He answered: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’’”
Ro 13:9 The commandments, “Do not commit adultery,” “Do not murder,” “Do not steal,” “Do not covet,” and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Gal 5:14 The entire law is summed up in a single command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Jas 2:8 If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right.those are scriptures to complement the first set.make us understand ,perhaps the dept of the words.

what is at stake here in the words of Christ ,let see what he says but also what he does,
and look what God has done .
could it be that to love your enemy mean to give them the rights in our hearts that we have as Christians?
and let God judge them as he see fit?
in this way we do not sin against the will of our God.
what is it to us if God save them all ,??does he as not the right to do with his wealth what he sees fit??would the happiness not be ours if they all become bless and become believers?
when we are persecuted and fulfill the will of God and suffer is not our riches increased and the debts of our persecuter increased as well?
so to love our enemies does not stand to kiss them or is it ??

March 23, 2011 at 6:29 am#240151WispringParticipantHi Pierre,
OK. A scenario. Suppose you are confronted by someone who's intent is to kill you. You physically defend yourself and subdue without killing this person. The eye for an eye logic says you should kill them. The new way taught by Jesus says to love them as yourself even as you love God, with all your hear, mind, soul, and strength. He has sinned against you Jesus taught out of love to forgive him his trespass. So, you disarm this person and lead this person to the local police station to let the local judicial system sort things out. You think to yourself “If I were foolish enough to engage in the activity this is how I would prefer to be treated rather than killed outright once I was subdued”. On the way to the police station this person asks you “Why didn't you kill me?”. You say “My God didn't want me to and I comply to his wish in this matter wholeheartedly.”. This person says “Hmmmm. OK.”
Maybe later this person of his own freewill or even God decides to touch his life says “That God that man told me about sure seems nice, I would like to get to know him better.”. Resulting in the opportunity for another person to learn to walk in God's ways. With Love and Respect,

Is vengence and justice the same thing?
What does Paul teach us Love is. Are we not to apply that attitude to our enemies as well as others?
March 23, 2011 at 8:27 am#240167WispringParticipantCould it be that we are to take the teachings of how to love our enemies and apply them in practical ways in our day to day life in order to manifest this teaching in the our lives and the enemiss lives, thereby, giving the teaching an oppurtunity to spread through actually experiencing the actions and results of applying the teaching in our life?

“They said to you that “In the last time there will be mockers, walking after their own ungodly lusts.”
These are they who cause divisions, and are sensual, not having the Spirit.
But you, beloved, keep building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.
Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.
On some have compassion, making a distinction, and some save, snatching them out of the fire with fear, hating even the clothing stained by the flesh.
Now to him who is able to keep them from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory in great joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.
March 23, 2011 at 9:00 am#240173karmarieParticipantI think its about being humble before others. Having good manners, being nice and smiling and being friendly. But not judgmental, rather you may try mixing in your beliefs to non believers in a conversation somewhere. I do.

That made me think of this:A Victim Treats His Mugger Right.
http://www.npr.org/2008….r-right
” Julio Diaz has a daily routine. Every night, the 31-year-old social worker ends his hour-long subway commute to the Bronx one stop early, just so he can eat at his favorite diner.
But one night last month, as Diaz stepped off the No. 6 train and onto a nearly empty platform, his evening took an unexpected turn.
He was walking toward the stairs when a teenage boy approached and pulled out a knife.
“He wants my money, so I just gave him my wallet and told him, 'Here you go,'” Diaz says.
As the teen began to walk away, Diaz told him, “Hey, wait a minute. You forgot something. If you're going to be robbing people for the rest of the night, you might as well take my coat to keep you warm.”
The would-be robber looked at his would-be victim, “like what's going on here?” Diaz says. “He asked me, 'Why are you doing this?'”
Diaz replied: “If you're willing to risk your freedom for a few dollars, then I guess you must really need the money. I mean, all I wanted to do was get dinner and if you really want to join me … hey, you're more than welcome.
“You know, I just felt maybe he really needs help,” Diaz says.
Diaz says he and the teen went into the diner and sat in a booth.
“The manager comes by, the dishwashers come by, the waiters come by to say hi,” Diaz says. “The kid was like, 'You know everybody here. Do you own this place?'”
“No, I just eat here a lot,” Diaz says he told the teen. “He says, 'But you're even nice to the dishwasher.'”
Diaz replied, “Well, haven't you been taught you should be nice to everybody?”
“Yea, but I didn't think people actually behaved that way,” the teen said.
Diaz asked him what he wanted out of life. “He just had almost a sad face,” Diaz says.
The teen couldn't answer Diaz — or he didn't want to.
When the bill arrived, Diaz told the teen, “Look, I guess you're going to have to pay for this bill 'cause you have my money and I can't pay for this. So if you give me my wallet back, I'll gladly treat you.”
The teen “didn't even think about it” and returned the wallet, Diaz says. “I gave him $20 … I figure maybe it'll help him. I don't know.”
Diaz says he asked for something in return — the teen's knife — “and he gave it to me.”
Afterward, when Diaz told his mother what happened, she said, “You're the type of kid that if someone asked you for the time, you gave them your watch.”
“I figure, you know, if you treat people right, you can only hope that they treat you right. It's as simple as it gets in this complicated world.”
March 23, 2011 at 10:11 am#240180Tim KraftParticipantTo all: How can love have an enemy? You can't love your neighbor as yourself if you have enemies! Paul said the war we are in is not against flesh and blood. It is not a physical war. Religion has made it a physical war. It is a spiritual war. Doctrines, thoughts, dreams, ideas, and knowledge coming to mind. The truth is God/good. Lies created by mankind are illusions of truth. These are evil, wrong, destructive, death, pain, suffering and sin.
We are in a spiritual war or war for truth. A war against evil(thinking)sin(thinking)destructive(thinking). These are the things that come out of a man that defile him. What comes from within a person is what they believe. This is the fruit from your tree and it is either good fruit/of life or evil fruit/to sin and death. If we believe Jesus words from God we are cleansed, whole, made perfect unto God. From the tree that can believe Jesus, is produced much fruit, good fruit, healing fruit, kind, loving fruit etc.!
A person must actually denounce and deny the work of Jesus to continue thinking evil or that you are evil or in sin or sin all the time or that you are separated from God for any reason makes you unclean on the inside. From unclean thoughts come unclean words and actions. Our enemy is evil thinking. Evil words/doctrines are evil spirits! Thinking there is evil creates evil in your life. Each individual is responsible to believe and establish themselves as washed clean by Jesus or unclean, dark and dirty.
Your neighbor is not your enemy. What they think and believe could be against the truth. Attempt to enlighten them, if they scoff they are not yet ready. IMO, TKMarch 23, 2011 at 11:57 am#240184WispringParticipantHi Tim,
Would you consider war evil and peace good? If so, that tree of knowledge of good and evil eating is still in effect. Stupid tree! This thread is about the love your enemy teaching of our Lord and Teacher Jesus Christ. Do you have any stories or insights on how we can use this particular teaching in our day to day lives?

Simple! God is love! The more we put his love in the world with our thoughts and actions the more this aspect of his spirit is manifested in the world! Yay!

1 Corinthians 13(NIV)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
This is how you are to treat your enemies.

there are nice experience like the one Karmarie told,
but what are the benefits to apply the law of love your enemies,I personally I have learn to apply this law in my heart,so that i will not look at any men as a enemy or as someone to hate, because of whatever it may be.
in this it takes time and profound changes on the inside ,and it is a constant battle if you work in the or with the public,
we have to ask our self if some people fall on my nerve men i think and rip him up so to speak, this attitude seams innocent but it would not be compatible with “love your enemy”
to benefit of all what God as to give we should be ready to give everything to God,as Christians if we really are one ,we do not own our self because we have given our live to him,so we have to remove all obstacles that prevent God s love to reach us,
it is true that God help us in that way to reach the fullness of our commitment to him,if we are sincere.
this is the way to built a strong faith ,and be able to rely on God all of the time,in and for all things,
personally I should have been dead many years ago and many times there after, but God as send his angel and survived each time and each time I came closer to him knowing it was him that save me.(I was not looking to die, exept for once)
so I have no doubt in my mine that God will help anyone calling on His name or his son name,
today wen i do things I always ask why do I do this or that and make sure God approve s it,

if we are a Christian and we know God we should look at anyone else the same way or in need for help to know what we know of God.

there must be only one outcome when we done and mature in Christ ,we will have no enemies but we could be seen as enemy by others”
