January 31, 2008 at 6:15 am#80468davidParticipantWell, I'm not typing out the scriptures. The rest is a compilation of things. Right now, I'm attempting to actually look through all the supposed messianic prophecies. This is taking some time.
January 31, 2008 at 11:10 pm#80536ProclaimerParticipantOh good.
I look forward to seeing them.
January 31, 2008 at 11:29 pm#80538davidParticipantTowshab had repeatedly said that when the Messiah arrived, everyone would know it, what with the glorious triumphant messianic prophecies being fulfilled.
Mandy, I have a question for you: Have you ever read in the scriptures: The stone that the builders rejected is the one that has become the chief cornerstone.
The one who “carried the very sin of many people, and for the transgressors he proceeded to interpose” this one who “will bring a righteous standing to many people; and their errors he himself will bear”–this one despite doing all this, the scripture says of him: “He was despised, and we held him as of no account.” (Is 53:12,3)
BUT HOW CAN THIS BE?
PSALM 118:22
“The stone that the builders rejected Has become the head of the corner.”Generally speaking, the Israelites, stumbled over the stone of Jesus.
ISAIAH 8:14-15
“And he must become as a sacred place; but as a stone to strike against and as a rock over which to stumble to both the houses of Israel, as a trap and as a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And many among them will be certain to stumble and to fall and be broken, and to be snared and caught.”MATTHEW 21:42,44
“Jesus said to them: “Did YOU never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone that the builders rejected is the one that has become the chief cornerstone. From Jehovah this has come to be, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?”. . . .“Also, the person falling upon this stone will be shattered. As for anyone upon whom it falls, it will pulverize him.””Again, Mandy, I ask:
The one who “carried the very sin of many people, and for the transgressors he proceeded to interpose” this one who “will bring a righteous standing to many people; and their errors he himself will bear”–this one despite doing all this, the scripture says of him: “He was despised, and we held him as of no account.” (Is 53:12,3)BUT HOW CAN THIS BE?

ISAIAH 53:1,3
“Who has put faith in the thing heard by us? And as for the arm of Jehovah, to whom has it been revealed? . . .He was despised and was avoided by men, a man meant for pains and for having acquaintance with sickness. And there was as if the concealing of one’s face from us. He was despised, AND WE HELD HIM AS OF NO ACCOUNT.”
JOHN 1:11
“He came to his own home, but his own people did not take him in.”
LUKE 23:18
“But with their whole multitude they cried out, saying: “Take this one away, but release Bar·ab́bas to us!””
(By their rejection of Jesus as Messiah, the Jews fulfilled this prophecy.)NOT BELIEVED IN, BECOMES STONE OF STUMBLING
PSALM 69:8
“I have become one estranged to my brothers, And a foreigner to the sons of my mother.”
PSALM 118:22,23
“The stone that the builders rejected Has become the head of the corner. This has come to be from Jehovah himself; It is wonderful in our eyes.”
ISAIAH 8:14-15
“And he must become as a sacred place; but as a stone to strike against and as a rock over which to stumble to both the houses of Israel, as a trap and as a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And many among them will be certain to stumble and to fall and be broken, and to be snared and caught.”
ISAIAH 28:16
“therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: “Here I am laying as a foundation in Zion a stone, a tried stone, the precious corner of a sure foundation. No one exercising faith will get panicky.”ROMANS 10:11,16
“For the Scripture says: “None that rests his faith on him will be disappointed.”. . . .“Nevertheless, they did not all obey the good news. For Isaiah says: “Jehovah, who put faith in the thing heard from us?””
JOHN 12:37-38
“But although he had performed so many signs before them, they were not putting faith in him, so that the word of Isaiah the prophet was fulfilled which he said: “Jehovah, who has put faith in the thing heard by us? And as for the arm of Jehovah, to whom has it been revealed?””
ACTS 3:14
“Yes, YOU disowned that holy and righteous one, and YOU asked for a man, a murderer, to be freely granted to YOU,”
ACTS 4:11
“This is ‘the stone that was treated by YOU builders as of no account that has become the head of the corner.’”
LUKE 20:17-18
“But he looked upon them and said: “What, then, does this that is written mean, ‘The stone which the builders rejected, this has become the chief cornerstone’? Everyone falling upon that stone will be shattered. As for anyone upon whom it falls, it will pulverize him.””
1 PETER 2:6-8
“For it is contained in Scripture: “Look! I am laying in Zion a stone, chosen, a foundation cornerstone, precious; and no one exercising faith in it will by any means come to disappointment.” It is to YOU, therefore, that he is precious, because YOU are believers; but to those not believing, “the identical stone that the builders rejected has become [the] head of [the] corner,” and “a stone of stumbling and a rock-mass of offense.” These are stumbling because they are disobedient to the word. To this very end they were also appointed.”
ROMANS 9:31-33
“but Israel, although pursuing a law of righteousness, did not attain to the law. For what reason? Because he pursued it, not by faith, but as by works. They stumbled on the “stone of stumbling”; as it is written: “Look! I am laying in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock-mass of offense, but he that rests his faith on it will not come to disappointment.””February 1, 2008 at 12:18 am#80540davidParticipantIn the thread, “the real king Messiah” Towshab writes (on pages 2 and 3):
“It [Jesus lineage] will be proven when all of the others [prophecies] take place. Through them, all will know that the King Messiah is of the lineage of David.”
“You act as if the King Messiah will have to prove himself. G-d will do the proving because he will be G-d's Messiah.”
Will ALL know that he is the messiah, as Tow states?
ISAIAH 28:16
“therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: “Here I am laying as a foundation in Zion a stone, a tried stone, the precious corner of a sure foundation. No one exercising faith will get panicky.”DOES IT SAY EVERYONE WOULD EXECRCISE FAITH IN THIS ONE? OR DOES IT SAY THAT “NO ONE EXERCISING FAITH” WOULD GET PANICKY?”
PSALM 118:22,23
“The stone that the builders rejected Has become the head of the corner. This has come to be from Jehovah himself; It is wonderful in our eyes.”THIS PRECIOUS CORNERSTONE THAT ISAIAH SPOKE OF ABOVE, WHAT WILL HE BE TO THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE HOUSES OF ISRAEL, OF THE INHABITANTS OF JERUSALEM? NOTICE:
ISAIAH 8:14-15
“And he must become as a sacred place; but as a stone to strike against and as a rock over which to stumble to both the houses of Israel, as a trap and as a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And many among them will be certain to stumble and to fall and be broken, and to be snared and caught.”February 1, 2008 at 12:22 am#80541Worshipping JesusParticipantHi All.
Messianic prophecies fulfilled by Messiah Yeshua (Jesus Christ)
Over 300 Messianic prophecies found in the Old Testament or Tanakh were fulfilled by Messiah Yeshua (Jesus Christ) & are recorded in the New Testament!
Messianic prophecies fulfilled by Messiah Yeshua (Jesus Christ)
Today, over 1.8 billion people profess to be Christians. Tens of millions of these non-Jews are faithful believers. Did the Bible foretell that a Jewish Messiah would be believed upon by the nations?
(The Hebrew word goyim is translated into English as Gentiles or nations)
Jesus hailed from Galilee: “…In Galilee of the Gentiles. The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined…For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”- Isaiah 9:2-6
Messiah from David's house and followed by Gentiles: “…There shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner to the people; For the Gentiles shall seek Him, And His resting place shall be glorious.” – Isaiah 11:10Messiah would disseminate Law of Moses to the nations: “Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.”- Isaiah 42:6
Messiah birthed from a woman and hidden, also despised by Israel. “…The Lord has called Me from the womb; From the matrix of My mother He has made mention of My name. And He has made My mouth like a sharp sword; In the shadow of His hand He has hidden Me, And made Me a polished shaft; In His quiver He has hidden Me.” … “It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant, To raise up the tribes of Jacob, And to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles, That You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth. Thus says the Lord, The Redeemer of Israel, their Holy One, To Him whom man despises, To Him whom the nation abhors, To the Servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and arise, Princes also shall worship, Because of the Lord who is faithful, The Holy One of Israel; And He has chosen You.” – Isaiah 49:1-7Nations to spend their wealth on raising churches and memorials to Messiah: “The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.” … The wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you. – Isaiah 60:3
Incense burned in Messiah's name worldwide: “For from the rising of the sun, even to its going down, My name shall be great among the Gentiles; In every place incense shall be offered to My name, And a pure offering; For My name shall be great among the nations,” says the Lord of hosts.”- Malachi 1:11Jews scattered for rejection of Messiah: “The Gentiles shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity; because they were unfaithful to Me, therefore I hid My face from them. I gave them into the hand of their enemies, and they all fell by the sword.”- Ezekiel 39:23
Which Jewish person, from the House of David, made secretly inside a woman's womb, lived in Galilee and was despised by [most of] Israel, now has worldwide worshippers (from among all the Gentiles who spend their wealth in His name and service) and came to earth to be rejected just before Israel was scattered in 70 AD?His name is Yeshua in Hebrew or Jesus in English. His name means salvation. His title is Maschiach in Hebrew (Messiah), or Christ in English. Both Messiah and Christ (from the Greek – Christos), means the Anointed One. He is the promised anointed prophet, priest, and king. Jesus the Messiah is the Son of God and Savior. Yeshua is the second person of the Godhead or Trinity.

Its unquestionable that Yeshua is the Messiah. The Spirit of Truth testifys and bears witness to Yeshua.
Jn 15:26
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you
from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:Rev 19:10
Then I fell at his feet to worship him. But he *said to me, “Do not do that; I am a fellow servant of yours and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus; worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”Right before our eyes, millions all over the world are calling out to Jesus to be saved.
Either he is the One or he is the greatest scam or fraud ever known to man therfore he would be the ant-messiah or anti-christ.
I for one know that he is the one and that he is alive in my heart.
Blessings

If Jesus is the Messiah of God why would you also make him that God?February 1, 2008 at 3:08 am#80553davidParticipantQuote Hi WJ,
If Jesus is the Messiah of God why would you also make him that God?Wrong THREAD, Nick. There are another 17 threads devoted to that subject.
Note my words in the opening post and please, please, let us discuss that subject:Quote I would really like to keep this thread to only discussing the prophecies of the Hebrew scriptures and how they relate to Jesus. WJ, if you do respond to him, please do so in another thread. Thankyou.
February 1, 2008 at 3:11 am#80554NickHassanParticipantGood call.
February 1, 2008 at 4:58 am#80557Not3in1ParticipantOK, this thread is amazing. And yes, thank you for keeping it on track. There is so much information here that currently I am totally overwhelmed (but in a good way). I've been really sick this week, but I'm still checking in and grabing bits and pieces from this thread!
One thing that strikes me as I look at WJ's post, is that some of these listed have been shown to point to other people, but because we are conditioned to see Jesus is the text – we apply it to Jesus. This is really going to take some time for me to look all of these up and read them in context (to make sure they apply to Jesus).
Boy, this “….testing all things….” can be exhausting work.
Many thanks, brothers!
Love to you all,

Why should we join in your search for confusion?
We walk in the light and do not await the darkness.
You have offered nothing useful so why would you now?February 3, 2008 at 4:50 am#80654davidParticipantQuote One thing that strikes me as I look at WJ's post, is that some of these listed have been shown to point to other people, but because we are conditioned to see Jesus is the text – we apply it to Jesus. This is really going to take some time for me to look all of these up and read them in context (to make sure they apply to Jesus). Yes, it's taking me quite a while as well. But something to consider.
MULTIPLE FULFILLMENT
The use made of prophecy by Jesus and his disciples shows that a predictive prophecy may have more than one fulfillment, as when Paul referred to Habakkuk’s prophecy, originally fulfilled in Babylon’s desolation of Judah, and applied it in his day. (Hab 1:5, 6; Ac 13:40, 41) Jesus showed that Daniel’s prophecy concerning “the disgusting thing that is causing desolation” was due for fulfillment in the generation then living; yet Daniel’s prophecy also connects “the disgusting thing” causing desolation with the “time of the end.” (Da 9:27; 11:31-35; Mt 24:15, 16) Jesus’ own prophecy regarding the conclusion of the system of things likewise includes mention of his coming in Kingdom power, which did not take place in the first century C.E. (Mt 24:29, 30; Lu 21:25-32) This indicates a dual fulfillment.Hence, in discussing the matter of double fulfillment of prophecy, M’Clintock and Strong’s Cyclopaedia (1894, Vol. VIII, p. 635) comments: “This view of the fulfilment of prophecy seems necessary for the explanation of our Lord’s prediction on the Mount, relating at once to the fall of Jerusalem and to the end of the Christian dispensation.”
Psalm 2, is I think a good example. Look at 2:1,2. The first application was at the time when philisitine kings tried to unseat annointed king david.
If we see Acts 4:23-30, we see a second application or fulfillment when jewish religious leaders king herod and roman governor pontius pilate all played a part in having Jesus put to death. The scriptures suggested that leaders from more than one land would unite in order to attack Jehovah's anointed one (Christ).

It will take much less time to look at my posts which are right before his 300 prophecies post.
February 27, 2008 at 5:37 am#82734davidParticipantQuote And this is the point I am trying to make……Jesus' works did NOT match what was promised/predicted of the Messiah to come. That is why the Jews, and John the Baptist were confused. That is why I am confused today.
Quote Jesus did not accomplish what he was supposed to as the Messiah. –mandy, another thread.
Hi mandy. I'm sorry to say I've been sidetracked and haven't been giving this subject the time it deserves.
While the Bible nowhere specifically says that he would come twice, certain prophecies seem to indicate this. And while I can't answer why the Bible doesn't say he'd come twice, you and the other side don't seem able to answer questions related to Is 53 or Dan 9. I'm going to have to look at this subject.

Good to hear from you again.
I looked at Is 53 for quite a while. I became frustrated because there were soooooooo many commentaries on the chapter that seemed to go in opposite directions. So many various explainations were plausable that I gave up. Seems nothing is clear-cut.
No “second coming” predicted in the OT. The Messiah was to accomplish all the first time around. Jesus didn't do that.
February 27, 2008 at 5:47 am#82737davidParticipantQuote The Messiah was to accomplish all the first time around. While it doesn't say he would come twice, nor does it say the above. The fact that you “gave up” on Isaiah 53 makes me wonder.
There are two groups out there, with quite opposite agendas, regarding this verse.
Which makes the most sense? What do you actually believe those verses are about?February 27, 2008 at 5:48 am#82738davidParticipantQuote There are precisely two kinds of prophecies in referring to the Messiah–those that speak of his triumphant second coming and those that speak of his humble coming Mandy, do you disagree with the above statement?

Hmmmm, I'm not sure these are good options. There is the OT explaination which the Jews hold, and there is the Christian view which allows a second coming whereby Jesus will THEN do what is written of the proper Messiah.
