Interpreting the bible – how should we Interpret the bible?______________

    Hi Everyone,

I just realized just how important this topic really is. Why?
Because this is what everyday does when trying to make a point.

We all focus in on either trying to prove or disprove a point to others,
when we should instead be looking for the methodology to find agreement.

And that’s where this thread comes in! I believe we will be referencing
principals learned in this thread to be the doctrinal warriors T8’s
gas mask Avatar would suggest. And the very reason I believe
Heaven net forum was created for in the first place.
But T8 will have to conform that for us or not.

    Hi Everyone,

    1. The logic fallacy of: “I will cite others who agree with me”
as evidence as to whether a belief is either true or untrue.

That is obviously WRONG because of this Rhema:
“let God be true, but every man a liar” (Romans 3:4)

Romans 3:4 does not mean what man testifies to is a lie.
nor does it mean what man testifies to is untrustworthy.

We can obviously cite others in agreement with us, to add
what they believe into the equation. And what is added
to the equation can be seen as evidence to a point.

Interpretive assessment is need for agreement
Now does everyone agree with my Point #1?

Or Do we need to argue point #1?
When we are in agreement with point #1
I will present another principal to nail down!

This thread was created to nail down the principals for properly interpreting the bible.
We need to hash out these principals so that we and others can reach correct conclusions!
Sorry Gene that exudes you – because you do not have a “Free Will” – ha ha ha ha aha ha ha ha

I think we need to realize that divinely inspired as it may be, the Bible was still the product of fallible male authors, whose prejudices do show through.  I think it most naïve to assume the dictation theory, that God dictated it word for word to purely passive scribes.  For example, there  about 100 major contradictions in Scripture. Also, it was generally at the arbitrary dictates of the fathers to decide what was canon and what not.  Hence, there is a long-standing argument whether the Apocrypha should or should not be included in the canon. I rely heavily on modern biblical scholarship, not church traditions about the Bible.  Too many Christians think they are going just on the sole authority of Scripture, when, in point of fact, they are reading in their churches’ traditions.   That is about the worst way to study Scripture .  We should go with an open mind.   For example,  maybe Scripture  is inerrant, maybe not.  Let’s check it out and then decide. I think abut the worst thing you can do is fall into some form of bibliolatry, by calling Scripture the Word of God.  Scripture is actually the words of men, males.  The Word is revealed through the words of  fallible males.

    Hi,

    The bible interprets the bible.

    The words are spiritual.

Submit your foolish mind to the rulership of the Spirit mere man.

You must be transformed by the renewal of your mind.

    Rom 12
