Hi Kat,
I agree.
But you will not find any trinity there but just a God who sent His Son and filled him with His Spirit.September 4, 2009 at 6:40 am#144209evehParticipantQuote (katjo @ Sep. 04 2009,14:49) You can have the holy spirit and still not speak in tongues tho. It isnt for all. some are blessed with that gift. And yes John is good, but you need to understand alot more of the bible too, about the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
There are two seperate tongues. There is the unknown tongue which all beleivers get when they recieve the Holy Ghost. It is for you to edify you when you pray. Only God understands it.The second is the Gift of tongues given a as special gift to some in the church. It is to edify the church and should only be used when an interperter is present.
The reason so many people can't understand this, is they have been taught there is only one. You need to do a study on this. It is the most important thing you will ever learn.
Without his spirit you are none of his. And you will speak in tongues just like all those in the church did way back then.ACTS 10:42
And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.
43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
HOW DID THEY KNOW THEY HAD RECIEVED THE HOLY GHOST. DON'T MISS THIS. IT IS YOUR SALVATION ON THE LINE.

October 19, 2009 at 1:47 pm#152069georgParticipantQuote (Akara @ Aug. 08 2008,07:26) I am a very faithful Christian but I have a lot of questions about the foundations of my religion. I don't understand the Bible at all. I don't understand why and how we know it is the word of God. I don't understand why some people go by the New Testament, and some people go by the Old. Shouldn't we read all of it? But I find so many contradictions in it. For example I've been told it says in the Bible that different races shouldn't marry, and I don't believe in that. I've never actually seen those words in the Bible though because I don't know where to look. I wish I had some way to be able to understand the Bible. I don't feel that I have anyone to go to in my church because their views just seem opinionated to me.
I've got to the point where I don't even read the Bible at all because I don't feel that it helps me any with my faith. If anything it just confuses me and makes things worse. I don't have any doubts and I believe that as long as I just trust in God, that's all that matters. I'm pretty happy with where I am now in my faith. But sometimes I just wish I understood things about it a little better. Is it wrong that I go by my heart's morals and not the Bible, but still say I'm Christian?(I would prefer if people who are just going to tell me that God doesn't exist didn't respond. I don't want to waste my time arguing because that is not what I came here to do. No disrespect to you but you can't help me.)
AkaraJesus did not say, read my words, he said, “search” the scriptures, he also made this promise, if you “continue” in my words, you will know/understand the truth.
God wants to see persistence, determination; you have to show him that you are willing to spend time searching for the truth, and never forget to ask him for his wisdom, Ja. 1:5; remember what Jesus said, Luke 11:13.
Understanding does not come overnight.Georg
October 23, 2009 at 4:39 pm#153043followerofJesusParticipantHey Akara
The thing is you should pray for God to give you insight and understanding into the Word
Although you should try and find a version of the Bible that most speaks to you
Although there is only one Bible
for example take Joshua 10 verse 14 “…………………That was the day the Lord harkened to the voice of a man…………………”
I wont get something Like that, but I do understand N.C.V of the Bible
for example take Joshua 10 verse 14 “………………… That was the day the Lord listened to a human being……………………….”
Sorry if this offends you though I do not mean to
for example take the word house. It may be said in another language but it is still the same thing
I have different versions of the Bible for comparison reasons
But N.C.V is the one that most speaks to me
Remember when God speaks he wants to be understood
Although not everybody would understand every version of the Bible.
The Lord speaks most directly to us through the Bible
Although sometimes we do not understand
But he is a teacher
So just pray and ask him to clarify, and lead you to others who can help you grow as a Christian
The Bible helps us teaches us guides us. so I hope this helps you
Tell me how it goes

The way you feel and even some confusion about the bible is not unusual or out of the ordinary. I know many believers that have felt the same way, including myself. For many years I studied and studied the bible and there was so little, if any that I really understood, but I kept reading anyway, because I was so desperate to understand it. I was desperate to know if my life really had purpose and meaning. I had accepted Christ as my Savior when I was very young, but had never really had a real or intimate relationship with Him. For many years, that desperation within grew and grew until I could hardly stand it. I would cry out and cry out for the Lord to reveal Himself to me in a real way. It wasn't that I didn't believe, and it wasn't that I never saw God working in my life, but somewhere in my heart I just was convinced that there was so much more than what I had.
Finally a few years ago, the Lord brought about some circumstances in my life, and I ended up surrounded with a few people that loved Jesus more than any I had ever met. I didn't know what they had or how I could get it, but I knew that I wanted it. Through a few people laying hands on me and praying much for me, I began to get a lot of healing and deliverance in my life. In the process of that, the more God refined me, the cleaner and more free I got on the inside. The more idols God broke out of my life, the better I heard His still small voice inside of me, and the fuller I got with His Holy Spirit.
The bible says that the Holy Spirit will teach us all things and bring all things to our remembrance. I not only believe that, I know it to be true because I have experienced it in my own life. For me, that really began when the Lord lead me to pray some really hard prayers. Prayers that take a person way outside their comfort zone. For me personally, I didn't care because I was so desperate for more understanding and more Jesus in my life.
If you're desperate for more Jesus, a deeper more intimate walk with Him, a better understanding of His word and life in general, I would be happy to pray with you. I have never known the Lord to be unfaithful about honoring the hard prayers for people that He tells me to pray them for. I'm not saying that I'm anything special, but I am saying that the hard prayers that the Lord gave me are very special prayers.
If you would like to pray with me, please let me know.
I love you,
ChrisNovember 10, 2009 at 8:50 pm#155925georgParticipantI am amazed at how many of you are welcoming Akara and that is great. I too will welcome you.
Don't give up searching the Scriptures that is the best advice I can give you. And pray first, before searching. God's Holy Spirit will in time reveal most of the Bible to you. But it will take time.
