It's probably safe to assume that you all heard of the “Gospel of Judas.” If you haven't, its a Gnostic manuscript from the 2nd century found in Egypt in 1970. The National Geographic Society decided to make it public recently. Of course, its release is close to the celebration of the resurrection–go figure. There's an attention to the manuscript similar to the Da Vinci Code. Yet again, go figure.

Anyway, the NY Times has the translation online, so I decided to read it. Not only is half the manuscript unreadable/missing, there are several points that contradict scripture. For example, early in the manuscript, “Jesus” mentions the current generation not seeing the “holy generation.” Also, “Jesus” states that the angels created man (pg. 6)! Not only that, but Jesus laughs at everything. In summary, I think it's garbag.

When I started reading the gospel of Judas I didn't get very far, mostly because reading through the first chapter it read as though someone from 2000+ had wrote it. It might have been the translation but even for a Gnostic gospel, this is weak at best.

Coming from memory I didn't like the “style” of writing, everyone has one including multiple groups, the scriptures have a certain “style” to it, when I read this one I got a different “style”, from presentation.

Hmmm, maybe its the fact that it was translated by someone different? The original version is the property of Egypt's Department of Antiquities, and not the Vatican or another religious congregation, as was the case with the Dead Sea Scrolls.

I read very little of it also. I got the feeling that it was not truth. There are other books out also that I have been exploring that I wonder about the authencity of them. The Gospel of the Holy Twelve. Now the Gospel Of The Nazirenes is fun to read. Being that I am vegan and fight for animal rights this book shows Jesus as very compassionate and fighting for animal rights. A side of Jesus we never see in the NT books. The biggest problem I have with any of these new discoveries is how totaly different they read. Like some one else in here said, maybe it is the translation, but they do sound anything like the books we are used to reading. But than I am not sure right now how acurate the traditiional NT really is.??? ???

I hae read the Gospel of Judas and I to got a sense that something was not right, although just a sense and my spirit nor the Holy Spirit was grieved when I read some of it. There are many things I cannot understand, so they are not ment for me to be understood at the moment- but one thing about Angels creating men; it is possible. The Father uses whoever He wants to use to do as he pleases. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but from my understanding He said, “Let us create them in our image.” We are made in the image of God and so are even angels; they are his Sons too. From my understanding, 'in my image' means in 'the way' he is, for we are not an exact representation of God, but through love we are in what we do (but again, not personally exactly as He is). So, when he said 'Let us create them in our image' means let us create them how we are; in the ways of love, pleasing unto the Father. He could have been talking to His Son, the angels and whatever other beings he created like Him all at once even. We don't really know unless the Father has told you specifically. He has not told me, and really it is not that important but for the sake of the Gospel of Judas maybe it could help.

In the name of יהוה . =) Bless you guys
