1 Chronicles 28:9 And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God OF thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
The author did NOT say “know thou the God thy Father, but rather he said “know now the God OF thy father.
Just as Jesus is called the Son OF God, rather than “the son, God.”
Jesus consistantly references his Father as “greater than I,” and “MY GOD,” and “MY Father, YOUR God and MY God.”
There are not two options as to the meaning of these passages, but those passage which are used to show Jesus is God ALWAYS have more than one option as to what they actually mean, and that will not violate the context of the verses under consideration.
For example; having a name which is called “God with us” does not make one God any more than a name which says “”El is my Father.”[Gen 10:28] Meaning: Abimael = “my father is El (God)” 1) son of Joktan, descendant of Shem
For Example: being called “everlasting father” does not make one God if one is given everlasting children, by God himself. God gave his children to Jesus for signs and wonders in Israel. “Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.” [Isa 8:18]
There is a vast difference between being understood to be “God, the son” and “the Son of God.” Which will you find in scripture?
And when God addressed Solomon so long ago, did he speak of “God thy Father” or “God OF thy Father?” Do you perceive a difference?
