Hi,
Men do not fear God because if they did they would be desperate to avoid His judgement and quick to grasp His words and to abide in them.Num 16
” 19And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the congregation.20And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
21Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.
22And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?
23And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
24Speak unto the congregation, saying, Get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.
25And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him.
26And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of their's, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
27So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.
28And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
29If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me.
30But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD.
31And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them:
32And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.
33They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation”

If men feared God and knew how much He wants us to love His teaching shown in the Word they would not so quickly wander off the path of truth into vain fabrications of their own making.November 7, 2006 at 8:16 pm#31840NickHassanParticipantHi,
God will soon give very good reason for men to fear Him again.
Then the vain theologians and philosophers will find ther vision to be clearer and their minds sharpenedIs 24
“1Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.2And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.
3The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.
4The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.
5The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.
6Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.
7The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.
8The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.
9They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.
10The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in.
11There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.
12In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.
13When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.
14They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea.
15Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea.
16From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.
17Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.
18And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.
19The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.
20The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.
21And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.
22And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.
23Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.”

January 14, 2007 at 6:27 pm#37054NickHassanParticipantHi,
Many have confused God with His son Jesus. God has not been seen but the suffering servant Christ has. He was meek and gentle and treated all with respect and raised his arm in power against no man. Because of this confusion I believe that many have diminished their view of God to that of the suffering servant and lost sight of the might and punishing power of God against those who refuse to listen to Him. Christ was His olive branch of mercy but that mercy will cease and the wrath of God will be fully revealed against all rebellion in heaven and on earth.Rom 1
“Romans 1:18
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;”Those who do not now fear Him will do so.
January 14, 2007 at 8:16 pm#37056Worshipping JesusParticipantHello!
Should we not listen to Jesus words and give the honor due to him!
Men call Jesus words the “Word of GOD”, now if Jesus claims the words that he speaks as his own, and if his words are the word of God, then he must be God' One with the Father and the Spirit!
Jn 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth **my word**, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.Jn 8:31
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in **my word**, [then] are ye my disciples indeed;
Men have forgotten that the scriptures tell us that the Father Judges no man now, but hath committed all Judgment into Jesus hands?
Jn 5:22,23
For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.Jesus surely came the first time as a Lamb, but he will return with a sword!
Rev 19:5
And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.II Thess 1:7,8
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus ChristAnd woe be to those who teach false doctines!
I Jn 4:
1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ [Word/God] is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ [Word/God] is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
II Jn 1:7
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ [Wod/God] is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.January 14, 2007 at 8:47 pm#37057NickHassanParticipantHi W,
John 3:34
“For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
Jn 8
26I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.27They understood not that he spake to them of the Father….
47He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.”
God is the source and the Son is the vessel and the instrument.
January 15, 2007 at 12:12 am#37078retepmurTParticipantSome how I don't feel I have a clear thought about love and fear in the same place. I've never understood that concept
as applied to me. I've always believed and had faith, I have never doubted God or the fact that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. It just took me forty-two years to become spiritually broken to the point where I didn't have a passion for anything inlife anymore. I felt like a complete loser and failure and could see no reason for going on. At this point God directed a very special man into my life to mentor me in Christian leadership or maybe just fellowship at first. I struggled and rebelled for a rocky year and a half, but looking back after one year I could see a miracle happen! There was a unbelievable change occurring and I became more and more obediant to the daily scripture readings. I realized one day that anything is possible when you wait on God and let Him direct your life. He opens your eyes to how the the world really is and how deceitful our hearts are without him. Back to the original point. My deepest fear is having to go back and exist for one day without God now that He's become my loving Father.

If you have experienced the Love of God then make sure you have obeyed the demands of His Son spoken through Peter at Pentecost so that you can know that love eternally.January 15, 2007 at 12:33 am#37081retepmurTParticipantI find myself separating myself from many congregations and old aquaintances and guarding my tongue more and more. I
fear when I let man get between my mind and Jesus Christ my
path has become clouded and confused. Is this sybolistic to what moses was experiencing when he said separate yourself from the congregation?

” 1Then Job answered the LORD, and said,2I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.
3Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.
4Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
5I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.

Commonsense really.
But some would read of God in the bible and dare to judge Him?January 11, 2008 at 3:45 am#77920NickHassanParticipantHi,
Our God apparently does not meet the moral expectations of many here at the moment.
They view with disdain His reported actions and attitudes
as if He should be NICE, like them.
But God is to be feared

this fear you speak of ,this truly is not fear in the sence people see it today, truly it is just an awe/reverance for him because he is so awesome.January 11, 2008 at 9:49 am#77938seek and you will findParticipantMichaels You are trying to diminish what fear is. Fear Him that can destroy not only the body, but the soul also. So what does that mean. Just a reverence? I do not think so. We have an awesome God because He has send Jesus into the world not to condemn the world but through Him we might be saveth.

The following is pure fiction to express my point of how a God of Love is NOT to be feared except in the sense of AWE. I DO NOT NOR WOULD I EVER DO THESE THINGS. JUST AS MY HEAVENLY FATHER WOULDN'T EITHER.I try to inspire the same dread in my child as well. I want to be like my heavenly father.
I often tell my child how much I love her and then remind her that at any moment she disappoints me I may just beat her or burn her with a hot pan.
I want to be an awesome Dad. Sometimes, when my daughter angers me, I choose to beat on my wife instead so that I can demonstrate the vicarious attonement of Christ.
When I tuck her in at night I look into her eyes and tell her I love her. And then just before I shut out the lights I remind her that at any moment I could come in and sufficate her with a pillow.
Nothing like a Father's love.
