    Kent Hovind?  Really?

    From the Holy Wikipedia:

    Quote
Hovind has been criticized by other creationists, including young Earth creationists and old Earth creationists, who believe that many of his arguments are invalid and, consequently, undermine their causes.

If you want to go through his ridiculous claims one by one, please list them, starting with the ones you think are most convincing, but there is no way that I am going to watch a two hour presentation from this guy voluntarily.  That would be two hours of my life that I could never get back.

I don't go for the Young Earth theory myself, though I don't rule it out either as I am careful to not let pride shut my mind down as many do. I try to remain teachable on all things, even if it goes against the grain.

That said, I thought he had some points about text books that kids are taught from.

    And why attack the messenger.
On Heaven Net we discourage attacking the messenger and are all for attacking the argument.

Let's hear some points on the argument please, otherwise why spend 5 minutes of your life that you will never get back by attacking the mesenger.

Attacking the messenger is often a ploy from those who cannot attack the message. If 2 hours is too long, then attack the first point he makes. Simple aye?

Since you posted the video, I assume that you got something out of it.  Summarize the best point (or give me the time reference in the video), and I'll address it.

    Hi WIT,

    1. What exploded as a 'big bang'?
    2. What energy caused this explosion?

You can start with these two questions; OK?

    Hi WIT,

    For evolution to be true,
all these must be true; and
for the first five of these there
    is no evidence whatsoever!

    1. Cosmic evolution
    2. Chemical evolution
    3. Stellar and planetary evolution
    4. Organic evolution
    5. Macro-evolution
    6. Micro-evolution

You must first prove point #1 to be in any kind of position
to be able to support point #2 and so on down the line.
So evolution is a house of cards with no foundation!

But you don't know what these terms might mean, do you Ed. So it's a bit rich you sticking your oar in when you haven't a clue what science says about the history of the universe.

Kent Hovind is not currently available to explain himself in regards to anything he says or does, as he is in jail in Colorado, for lying about his taxes.

    I don't think its “evolution” that's stupid.

Kent is in jail for not paying about half a million dollars
in taxes. He said he didn't have to pay because everything
    he owns belongs to God.

Now all his clothes belong to Pensacola state prison.

OK, Ed.  Let's first establish some groundwork here.

Do you accept the Theory of Relativity?

It's a shame he can't be convicted for lying to children about natural history. Given the intentionally disruptive behaviour of some creationism-mindwashed children in biology lessons he's probably done more than half a million dollars worth of damage to the education system in the US.

    Hi WIT,

Nothing can travel faster than light is in question.
His ideas about gravity may also be incorrect.

What are you driving at, that you
specifically want me to agree with?

    Ed J,

When you look at the universe in fine enough detail, Newtonian physics is also inaccurate, but I use it everyday to build complex things that actually work.

Do you accept that the Theory of Relativity describes the universe accurately enough to make verifiable predictions, (i.e. to describe in great detail much of how the universe works)?

    Hi WIT,

Einsteins “Theory of Relativity” was used to make nukes.
And is capable of making some predictions about the universe.
I can't agree that it is 100% accurate, because I don't believe it is.

Is this a good enough start for you?

All science is always in question, but this fact about the speed of light is not under any particularly greater threat now than it has been in the past.

    Hi Stuart, (Link)

When we were looking for interesting educational material on the hard to believe properties of water
(Did you know that bacteria in water react to solar flares as they happenwhich is 8 minutes BEFORE
we can actually see the flares – since light takes 8 minutes to reach Earth from the Sun?
    ),
we came across a fascinating video featuring David Sereda.

It is called “Amazing Water” and it expands on many of the concepts introduced by Dr. Emoto.

Isaiah 55:7-11 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD,
and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth,
and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but
it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it
    .

    Ed,

Do you agree that the universe is likely about 13.75 billion years old?
