I have been studying the curse that came upon the earth at the time of the fall of man. I believe that at Creation, there were no blood eating mosquitos or vermin, and that animals did not eat one another. There was no death before the fall, and no creature consumed blood. After the curse, many things that had been formerly pronounced “good” by God began to twist ( for instance , fire ants) and become perverted.
Let's start with this premise and see where we go…

    Welcome ib1mog,
I agree, I believe that creation was perfect until after the fall. I personally believe that genetic alterations were taking place since then as satan inspired perversion of creation, but it's just my opinion

Welcome ib1mog  How nice that was, and how nice it will be again when all animals will eat grass. I wonder also if we are going to eat meat, what do you think?

thanks for your responses. I was wondering why Abel offered the fat of the herds to God. I assume that the flocks were kept for their wool until the time after the flood, when man was permitted to eat meat. I don't see any official instructions for offerings, and the first record of offering was Cain and Abel's ( other than the animals that provided skins to cover Adam anbd his wife) Any thoughts on this offering made by Abel??

I do not believe that there was any death within creation until The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them”. Although not stated, I do believe it is implied, that God must of required a sacrifice as indicated by “but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor.” it seems obvious to me that the lack of favor was due to not following instructions.

There had to be a blood sacrifice to make atonement for sin.

    Lev 17:10-12
11 For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life.
    NIV

Now, we do not have animal sacrifices because of Messiah. Those sacrifices foreshadowed what was to come. The wages of sin is death. Sin is nasty, bloody and gruesome. These sacrifices were to show the people what their sin was causing.

    Something to think about:
In the Old Covenant, when there was a blood sacrifice, blood was sprinkled everywhere. On people, in the temple, and all over the alter. It was gruesome, and there is never an account of cleaning it up.

    Ex 24:5-8
6 Moses took half of the blood and put it in bowls, and the other half he sprinkled on the altar. 7 Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded, “We will do everything the LORD has said; we will obey.”

8 Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words.”
    NIV

    Ex 29:15-16

15 “Take one of the rams, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on its head. 16 Slaughter it and take the blood and sprinkle it against the altar on all sides.
    NIV

    Ex 29:19-21

19 “Take the other ram, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on its head. 20 Slaughter it, take some of its blood and put it on the lobes of the right ears of Aaron and his sons, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet. Then sprinkle blood against the altar on all sides. 21 And take some of the blood on the altar and some of the anointing oil and sprinkle it on Aaron and his garments and on his sons and their garments. Then he and his sons and their garments will be consecrated.
    NIV

    Lev 1:4-6
5 He is to slaughter the young bull before the LORD, and then Aaron's sons the priests shall bring the blood and sprinkle it against the altar on all sides at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
    NIV

    Lev 1:10-11
    t. 11 He is to slaughter it at the north side of the altar before the LORD, and Aaron's sons the priests shall sprinkle its blood against the altar on all sides.
    NIV

    Lev 4:4-8
5 Then the anointed priest shall take some of the bull's blood and carry it into the Tent of Meeting. 6 He is to dip his finger into the blood and sprinkle some of it seven times before the LORD, in front of the curtain of the sanctuary. 7 The priest shall then put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of fragrant incense that is before the LORD in the Tent of Meeting. The rest of the bull's blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
    NIV

    2 Chron 29:21-23
22 So they slaughtered the bulls, and the priests took the blood and sprinkled it on the altar; next they slaughtered the rams and sprinkled their blood on the altar; then they slaughtered the lambs and sprinkled their blood on the altar.
    NIV

    Heb 9:19-22
19 When Moses had proclaimed every commandment of the law to all the people, he took the blood of calves, together with water, scarlet wool and branches of hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll and all the people. 20 He said, “This is the blood of the covenant, which God has commanded you to keep.” 21 In the same way, he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and everything used in its ceremonies. 22 In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
    NIV

Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. Cain and Abel illustrate two types of people. Those who want their own way and those who will obey their heavenly Father. Notice that there was verbal communication between God [YHWH] and Cain. Cain knew what YHWH wanted- he was in the habit of speaking with Him.

Cain's offering was not accepted, but YHWH told him that he could fix that- just make the right offering. Cain's response was rebellion and anger. He was not concerned with pleasing the Father's heart; he just wanted his way to be accepted and he took it out on the one who was making him look bad. He was jealous and instead of turning his heart to the Father, he took matters into his own hands. This is the difference between wanting to be right with God, or just wanting to be right. Here is the passage:

    Gen 4:4-8
5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.

6 Then the LORD said to Cain , “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.”

8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let's go out to the field.” And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
    NIV

The flesh man will always persecute the Spirit led man.

    1 John 3:12-14
12 Do not be like Cain , who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother's were righteous. 13 Do not be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you.
    NIV

Offering to the Father what He wants is the only thing that He will accept….
His ways are not our ways.

(sorry, I think I rabbit-trailed, but the point is that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin.)

Another thought- all life feeds on death.

    John 12:24
24 I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies , it remains only a single seed. But if it dies , it produces many seeds.
    NIV

    1 Cor 15:36
What you sow does not come to life unless it dies
    NIV
