Jesus said:
Quote And they will say to you, ‘Look here!’ or ‘Look there!’ Do not go after them or follow them. For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day.
Jesus' words applied today:Quote And the futurists will say to you, ‘Look here!’ or ‘Look there!’ Do not go after them or follow them. For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day
There it is friends. Jesus CLEARLY said that His coming cannot be described in terms of “He is here” or “He is there.”Matthew's account concurs:
Quote “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. 27 For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
Matthew's account applied today:Quote “Therefore if the futurists say to you, ‘Look, He is in Jerusalem!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is on the Mount of Olives!’ DO NOT BELIEVE IT. 27 For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. His coming was not localized but was as the lightning that shines from one part of heaven to the other part of heaven. Jesus could not have said it more clearly. Do not believe the futurists!

Hi thethinker:Here are some scriptures for you to ponder.
Quote 1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive [and] remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Th 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Love in Christ,

November 7, 2009 at 9:23 pm#155463Worshipping JesusParticipantHere is a thought for you Jack!
We know that Jesus has come with the Father by his Spirit being poured out on all flesh!
We know that God can be here and anywhere in the world all at the same time!
So why is it so hard to see that like the lightening Jesus can be seen all around the world all at once when he returns?
Jesus could appear to me and at the same time appear to another around the world at the same time!
He is God is he not?

Jesus explicitly said that they would see His coming in the clouds. Paul said that He would descend from heaven and would catch UP His people in or through the clouds. I don't think I ever said that He remained in the clouds.Explain how every eye in both hemispheres and at both the poles of the earth can witness His coming without a “sign.” Jesus said that they would see the “sign” of the Son of Man “in heaven.” It was AFTER saying this that He said that they would see His coming in the clouds. The two statemments must be harmonized with each other and with common sense.
Hey, maybe the “sign” through which every eye could see Him refer to TV signals. Maybe He will send a messenger to the TV networks so they will have enough notice to get to the Mt. of Olives to televise the event. This would mean that everyone must have access to a TV in some way.
Does common sense figure into the equation at all to you?

Keith,
First, Jesus explicitly said that they would see Him via a “sign.” Second, His coming was not to be to the earth. There is no new testament scripture which says this. He said that when He comes to not listen to anyone who says that He is “here” or “there.”Do not believe the futurists bro!

Keith,
You are throwing up a smoke screen. First, Jesus said to not believe anyone who says that He is “here” or “there.” In other words, He would not come back to earth and this is the point. He said that they would see the sign of the Son of Man in heaven.Second, I am still waiting for you to produce a passage from the new testament which says that His coming would be to earth.
Third, please answer my question in reference to the application of common sense: How can every eye in both hemispheres and at both polls of the earth witness His coming in the clouds without a universal sign? He said that they would see the Son of Man coming in the clouds. He said this AFTER saying that they would see His coming via a sign.
I see no reason why He would remain in the clouds after He took care of business with that generation.

You misunderstand.
Two separate issues, his return and his rule.
His return is seen by all but he is to rule from the seat of David in Jerusalem.[Ps 2. Ps 89 etc]He has yet to be seen by all and the door remains open for you still.

It is a futurist concept: The coming of the kingdom is described by Yeshua as the shining of the lightning from one part of heaven to another, even “from the east unto the west” (Mt 24:27; Lu 17:24) - AuthorPosts
