Mark 12:35 While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, he asked, “How is it that the teachers of the law say that the Christ is the son of David? 36David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared:
“‘The Lord said to my Lord:
“Sit at my right hand
until I put your enemies
under your feet.”’i
37David himself calls him ‘Lord.’ How then can he be his son?”July 27, 2011 at 3:27 am#253915KangarooJackParticipantQuote (t8 @ June 15 2011,11:14) John 1:1 (English-NIV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
a) In the beginning was the Word, (en arch hn o logoV)
b) and the Word was with God, (kai o logoV hn proV ton qeon)
c) and the Word was God. (kai qeoV hn o logoV).
Analysis and comparison table for understanding in what way the Logos was theos.
Upon choosing the correct example below, you will now have the language construction to understand John 1:1 and understand better how the logos was theos.
a) In the beginning was the woman (Eve), a) In the beginning was the woman, (Eve) b) and the woman was with the man (Adam) b) and the woman was with the man (Adam) c) and the woman was the man (Adam) c) and the woman was man (adam)
The woman was “the Adam.” God made them male and female called their name “the Adam” (Gen. 5:1-2).Christ's name is “the God” with “the God” as the woman's name was “the Adam” with “the Adam.” Yet they were two distinct persons though sharing the ONE name.
Catch my drift?

“For your husband is your Maker, Whose name is the LORD of hosts; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, Who is called the God of all the earth.Six names for Jesus here:
Husband…He is the bridegroom after all.
Maker…All things came into being by Him and for Him.
LORD (Jehovah) of hosts…Jehovah our God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords and has His own angels.
Redeemer…The Savior
Holy One of Israel…their Messiah
God of all the earth…There it is, God…Jesus is called God of all the earth. Sounds like deity to meRegarding this verse:
Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible
For thy Maker is thine Husband,…. That is, Christ, the Husband of the church, and of every true believer; who secretly betrothed them to himself in eternity, having asked him of his father; and, being given to him, openly espouses them in conversion, one by one, as a chaste virgin; which he will do more publicly in a body at the last day, when the marriage of the Lamb will be come, when he will appear as the bridegroom of his people; and to which character he acts up, by loving them with a love of complacency and delight, most affectionately and constantly; by sympathizing with them in all their troubles; by nourishing and cherishing them as his own flesh, and interesting them in all he is and has. It is, in the Hebrew text (k) “thy Makers, thy Husbands”, Father, Son, and Spirit; though the relation of a husband is more peculiar to Christ; and the words are a reason of the church's fruitfulness, and why she need not fear the performance of what was promised her; and which is wonderful and amazing; he who stands in such a near and endearing relation to his church and people, is the “Maker” of all things, yea, their Maker, both as creatures, and as new creatures:the Lord of hosts is his name; of armies above and below, in heaven, and in earth; how great therefore must this their Husband be! to what honour and dignity are they advanced! how safe must they be under his protection! nor need they fear any enemy:
thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; he who is the church's Husband is her Redeemer; and who so fit as he to redeem her from sin, Satan, and the law, and every enemy; who is of the same nature with her, so dearly loves her, and so able to save her? for which he is also abundantly qualified, being holy in both his natures, in his person and offices, in his birth, life, and death; for this seems greatly to respect him as man, as he was a descendant of the Israelitish nation, and of the seed of Abraham:
the God of the whole earth shall he be called: not of Israel only, but of all the nations of the world, of the Gentiles as well as of the Jews; the earth was made by him; the world and all that are in it are his: he is the Governor among the nations; and in the latter day will appear to be the King over all the earth, and will be owned as such; so great and illustrious a Person is the church's Husband. These words are applied by the Jews to the times of the Messiah (l).

17“For the LORD your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God who does not show partiality nor take a bribe.
Acts 10:34
34Opening his mouth, Peter said:
“I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality, 35but in every nation the man who fears Him and does what is right is welcome to Him. 36“The word which He sent to the sons of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all)—37you yourselves know the thing which took place throughout all Judea, starting from Galilee, after the baptism which John proclaimed. 38“You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. 39“We are witnesses of all the things He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They also put Him to death by hanging Him on a cross. 40“God raised Him up on the third day and granted that He become visible, 41not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen beforehand by God, that is, to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead. 42“And He ordered us to preach to the people, and solemnly to testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead. 43“Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.”'Lord of all'…sound like deity to me

To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:Jesus is our Lord. The Jews called Jehovah their God and their Lord.

2 Thess 1:12 that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and Lord Jesus Christ.August 15, 2011 at 3:32 am#256005LightenupParticipantJude 1:4
For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
August 15, 2011 at 4:12 am#256006LightenupParticipantLuke 1:11 And an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the altar of incense. 12Zacharias was troubled when he saw the angel, and fear gripped him. 13But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your petition has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will give him the name John. 14“You will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. 15“For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; and he will drink no wine or liquor, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while yet in his mother’s womb. 16“And he will turn many of the sons of Israel back to the Lord their God. 17“It is he who will go as a forerunner before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, TO TURN THE HEARTS OF THE FATHERS BACK TO THE CHILDREN, and the disobedient to the attitude of the righteous, so as to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
The “Lord their God” here is the same one that John goes before as a forerunner…i.e. Jesus.
“For he will be great in the sight of the Lord;

August 25, 2011 at 4:56 pm#256963LightenupParticipantI came across this passage yesterday and I looked at the morphology of the words to find out that all the verbs are written in the singular form even though there is a compound subject. More evidence of the unity of the Father and the Son acting as a compound unity, i.e. acting as one.
2 Thessalonians 2:16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, 17comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.
For evidence of that see here:
http://interlinearbible.org/2_thessalonians/2-16.htmNormally, if there is a compound subject, the verb would be written in the plural, according to how I understand it.
For example we see a compound subject 'Paul and Silas' and the verbs 'praying' and 'singing' are written in the plural form:
Acts 16:25 But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them;see that here:

Galaians 1:1 Paul, an apostle–sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead–
Paul was not sent from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ…

August 28, 2011 at 3:04 am#257114LightenupParticipant1 Cor 2:6 Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away; 7but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory; 8 the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;
I don't think that many here understand the hidden wisdom of God and would also crucify the Lord of glory. Many here do not want to believe that Jesus is the Lord of glory, they just believe that He is the first creature and not the creator Lord. In their religion they believe you can bow down and serve and believe in a created god and that it doesn't go against the first commandment.
But Jehovah says this:
Exodus 23:13 “Be careful to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips.
