    Hi,

    I'm writing an essay for a university course (Intro to Western Civilizations) and I've chosen to write about how Christianity became legalized and would like to emphasis on what happened to Roman paganism after this event.

    I want to write about some icons and practices Christianity (or the Church rather) had adopted from its previous persecutor. Does anyone have any suggestible books to look up? (Encyc's, books, etc.)

    Thanks a lot,

    Jordan

    Hi Jordan

    From the Holy Wikipedia:

    Pliny the Younger, a Roman governor writing circa 110 AD, called Christianity a “superstition taken to extravagant lengths.”

    The historian Suetonius called Christians “a class of persons given to a new and mischievous superstition”

    The Roman historian Tacitus called it “a deadly superstition”

    If the Romans had not been so paranoid about the pesky christians maybe christianity would not have proliferated at the speed it did, and perhaps the world would have been saved the blight that christianity is. The Romans got to do the persecution and we suffer the 1500 year long backlash of it…

    {pedantry} I take it you don't mean the books should be suggestible but that you would be suggestible if people made recommendations. {/pedantry}

    I recommend you use encyclopaedias, books etc.

    Stuart:)
