I just wanted to publically thank brother 94 for his patience and enduring kindness to those who doubt, challenge, ask the hard questions, lose their cool and who are otherwise unfriendly towards the gospel.
I have noticed that you are always respectful and show love towards all.
You don't end a debate because you don't have the answer. You don't use cliche's or fear tactics.
I just wanted you to know how much I respect you and care for you. You are an excellent example of Christ. I guess that is the highest compliment that I can give you.
Much love,

September 9, 2008 at 10:44 am#104494StuParticipantI'm sorry to be a dissenting voice in this show of respect but I can't agree about 94….. For someone who puts himself up as a prospect for a role in the pastoral care of others I think his attitude is dangerous. To be so uncritically dogmatic, especially dealing with younger people, is something that worries me. What would he say to a young gay man who chose to trust him with that confidence? As I have written before I think he has no business putting himself in that position with the homophobia he has displayed here.
Perhaps such a way of thinking is the norm in the lunatic world of America protestantism and my Kiwi sensibilities are not used to it but we are a resourceful lot with a healthy skepticism and I find 94….'s frequent, seemingly pig-headed literalism something that I am glad we have not much of in this country. I am sure he is a pleasant chap to talk with in person but all I can see is the unpleasant aspects of his philosophy on display here.
I am sure he is not the only one whom I view in this way. I strongly feel there is a better way to help people and would retract this if I knew that the reality was different. Sadly, if the interviews we see on TV of the zealous and bigoted megachurch pastors in the US are anything to go by the world could do with a lot less bible-based pastoral care.
My opinions are about 94….'s ideas as can be read here, not about him as a person. I have no basis to mke any such judgements, of course.

September 9, 2008 at 8:19 pm#104517Not3in1ParticipantStu, no one is perfect and by the way the title of this thread is: CHRISTIANS who display their fruit.
As a Christian, 94 is doing a superb job. You have to keep it in context, bro.
At any rate, let this not be a place where we trash people but where we encourage people. I suspect the thread will die in a few posts time anyway. Ha!
Kevin, I also agree about Keith! I have sung his praises many a time around here. The reason I wanted to thank 94 is because he never seems to lose his cool. His patience must be God-given.
September 10, 2008 at 12:48 am#104520942767ParticipantThe reason that I am patient with you is that my Lord and I want God's very best for you and your family. If you see Jesus through the life that I live that is indeed a high compliment, and I thank you for you kind words. And remember that, although there may be some things, especially in the OT that are hard to understand, Jesus has said: “he who has seen me has seen the Father”. If you want to understand God try to focus on what he has done for you in the person of Jesus Christ.
God Bless

In that case I extend my dismay to all christians who try to do the same 'job'. Who cares about patience when the world becomes filled with hatred because of that particular brand of it?Stuart
