Im able to choose wheter or not to sin in certain ares, but the one thing that I cant stop doing is masterbating. I'll try for a long time but I can feel the desire building up in my heart the longer I go without doing it. Eventually the desire becomes to strong and I end up doing it. The bible says if your hand causes you to sin then cut it off. Dose anyone think I should cut off my testicles. What can I do to quit?

Become a monk! As long we are in this flesh we are going to fall! Some have other demons that they have trouble with. It's just that our demon is not easy to talk about. Sex is the enemy's number one weapon. We all sin and fall short of the glory of God.
PAUL HAD PROBLEMS, WE ALL DO!
2Co 12:7 And by reason of the exceeding greatness of the revelations, that I should not be exalted overmuch, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, that I should not be exalted overmuch.
2Co 12:8 Concerning this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
2Co 12:9 And he hath said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Don't let Satan put the guilt trip on you!
Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus.
If you look forward to sinning and not try to stop then you would have a problem. If that were the case you wouldn't be concerned about it. Paul had a sin he couldn't get rid of. That's why God said My Grace Is sufficient for you. Grace is un merited favor for the forgiveness of sin that all we humans do. We all sin and fall short of the glory of God.

That's all I can say. All I can do is to pray for you and me and everyone else that sins, which is the whole world!
We strive for perfection but in all reality that won't be achieved until we are resurrected.
1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Jesus was not born under sin. He had no sin. We are born under Adam's curse our natural nature is to sin.
You don't want to sin but you do! We all do!
Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then I of myself with the mind, indeed, serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

thanks that kinda helps, for a while i would pray and ask God to remove the desire form my heart but it never worked. Around that same time i would open up my bible and read how paul wanted God to remove the a thorn from his flesh. I told my pastor this and he said that the thorn was somthing physical that was hindering him. but maybe the thorn was a sin?

That's funny I thought that grace was for forgivness. My grace is sufficient for thee. Paul was a spirit living in sinful flesh. In Rom.7 it sure seems like he was having problems.

For some reason people think that Paul or any of the other apostles couldn't sin. That's not what scripture says. We all sin and fall short of the glory of God. These were men of God fighting with their flesh just as we are. When God said My grace is sufficient for thee it was for all mankind not just Paul!

There is only one reason why people don't fall and that's because they are not walking! No matter how close you are to God you still will have tribulation.

    Rom 5:3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
Rom 5:4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

It's sort of like pain. Without pain you wouldn't know you were hurt. Tribulation helps us grow, but with growth comes growing pains. You should be , well, proud that the enemy has chosen his strongest weapon against you.

I had minor surgery the other day at the dentist office. And the pain is still letting me know I'm hurt lol
    :D
So I'm going to bed a little earlier than usual. Have a good night and stand tall knowing that Jesus will protect you.

1Jo 5:18 We know that the person who has been born from God does not go on sinning. Rather, the Son of God protects them, and the evil one cannot harm them.

    To asorryman,

These kind of desires are natural so it is part of human nature.
God gave us these desires so that we would multiply and trying to resist that desire is like trying to give up the desire for food.

I am no doctor, but from what I understand, resisting this desire can also have negative consequences such as prostate and/or urinary infections. Married men who join the Navy for example often have prostate problems due to having regular sex and then having nothing for months while at sea.

So what am I saying? Should we sin and be healthy. Of course not. The point is that once you have sex or regularly ejaculate, the body produces sperm and then your body tells you to release it. This is the cycle of someone who regularly has sex. Masterbation is the same, the more you do it, the more your body tells you to do it as the production of sperm is ramped up.

I guess in a perfect world one wouldn't have sex before marriage and so perhaps there would be no trigger for this response until you were married. But I guess even then, your body is telling you to do it even before marriage. It is natural and is one way that God ensures that the human race will multiply.

But we shouldn't let natural desires lead to sin and the only way to avoid sin is to do things of faith.

    Romans 14:23
But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

So if I were you, I would quit condemning myself about things that all physically normal men go through. The point is that anything you do that is not of faith is sin, not just this one thing. That means you are sinning all the time except when you eyes are fixed on God and you are doing his will. So how are we to be saved?

    Mark 2:5
When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

It is by God's mercy that we are saved, not by works. When God sees our faith he forgives us. Salvation is never maintained by living a perfect life, but rather by trusting that Christ paid for your sins. We are made perfect by Christ's death for all time, thus our imperfect life choices do not cause us to lose our salvation. It is really important for you to understand that your salvation does not change from day to day based upon whether or not you are doing everything correctly. If that were so, we would all be in a perpetually paranoid relationship with God in which we would never know our standing. This would be a terrible way to live.

In conclusion, it would be fair to say that we are sinners who cannot help sinning. But if we have true faith, then it is only then that we are not sinning, for we are either doing things of faith or sin. If we have faith, then how big is our faith? Is it big enough to realise that God forgives us of ALL sin, because that is the truth. He cleanses us from all sin through his son Jesus Christ. So let your faith in God be big enough to believe the following words:

    1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from ALL unrighteousness.

    Romans 8:1
Therefore, there is now NO condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

Following on from the previous post.

Paul the great apostle said in Romans 7:18
I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

Hear what Paul had to say in the following writing, about his own weakness and how he still managed to have faith in God. This writing shows his reasoning from scripture and understanding the truth about the Law and the Spirit.

    How to stop sinning.

I once spanked the monkey 14 times in one day….(my own personal record)… all I was left with was a sore wrist and a chafed unit…..and yet I still wasn’t satisfied!

You suffer from sex addiction my friend, but this doesn’t mean you can’t be a good person. I’ve been married for over 10 years to the same woman and I’ve always remained faithful to her, even with this weakness.

I knew at the age of 12 that I had an uncontrollable weakness in this area, and thus have always been able to keep away from circumstances that could lead me into temptation as far as being unfaithful to my wife…..I may be a pig….but I’ve became a very well trained pig!

The more you get your life focused on doing what’s right in god’s eyes, the easier it is to control your desires, but unfortunately, just like alcoholism and other addictions, you will suffer with this weakness for the rest of your life. (simply getting married won’t fix you either)

If I can give you one word of advise (even though it’s not exactly biblical), it would be this…..

5 minutes alone in the bathroom by yourself, will make any potential desire to commit adultery go away very quickly. You’re better off taking care of your weakness on your own than inviting 3rd parties into your life, simply to have them act as your right hand. (if you catch my drift)

If more people kept their self destructive behaviors to themselves, this world would have a lot less divorces every year.

Fight your disease, don’t ever make an excuse for it, but don’t ever think for one second that you’re worthless because of a human weakness, just don’t ride that “weak” reason for too long, you’re still suposed to know how to controll your own body members.

In my life, I’ve seen people that act like they’re in control prove to be the biggest “closet sex freaks” you’ll ever meet in your life, so choking your chicken is not as big of a deal unless it gets you going in directions that lead to larger problems down the road.

Just like you wouldn’t let a bird start laying a nest in your hair, but instead would shoo it away…. you shouldn’t let your thoughts just sit in one place as they build a nest and eggs get laid and a whole family of perverted thoughts stake their claim.

(so get rid of your porn stash…. it’s probably not helping matters)

Don’t worry profusely over it though (unless you start thinking of weirder and weirder things)….. I know very few men or women that haven’t done it (or aren’t currently doing it), and the ones that say they never have are the same ones who are into S&M.

Have fun, live life, don’t screw your neighbors wife!

DON’T CUT YOUR BERRIES OFF!!! (My goodness, I think my balls crawled up into my stomach when I read that….ouch!!)

How’s that for a last post? Have I blown ……..everyones expectations?

    Bye!

    Hello dear brother's and sister's,
I've noticed that this thread gets a lot of hits.  Yet there are few responses.  I guess the topic is a bit scary?  But I wanted to encourage those who find themselves trapped in condemnation over masterbation.  And I wanted to share this website that I just viewed for encouragement.  It says nothing of masterbation, however, it does tell of God's love for us.  I noticed it didn't say, “I love all those who do not masterbate.”  It simply reinforces the truth that we are free in Christ, and God loves us unconditionally.  The sin that remains in our lives after we claim Jesus as our Lord, is covered.  We don't “have to” give anything up – it is our joy to lay it down.  We will struggle and fall…….but we have Christ who is our sweet mediator.

Go to:  www.theinterviewwithgod.com and you will notice that there is no condemnation from God to his children, only love and the wish that they would know that they are loved.

Brother and Sister in Christ – you are loved!  With Christ all things are possible.  Renew your mind, the rest will follow.  God bless, and much love to my fellow struggler's!
    Mandy

Side note: I wanted to add this to my post in light of 94's more current post. After reading my post it seems as though I am advocating the “freedom” in Christ to continue in masterbation. Here is where I stand: you have to decide if the masterbation in your life is in fact, sin. What is sin for one person may not be sin for another. For instance, the Bible does not speak of masterbation, per se. However, each one is free to interpret the many scriptures that point towards sexual immorality as they wish. For some, masturbation keeps them from fulfilling their marital vows, this, in my opinion, would be sin. However, t8 shared a post concerning this topic that takes a more matter-of-fact stance and it sound like from that view, it is not sin.

    Hi All:

The post that started this thread is an old one, but I felt an obligation to share by understanding relative to this topic.

Before, my born again experience sex was my God.  Every thing that any one said about it.  I would try.  I was married but masterbated on a regular basis.  It was because of what I was doing in bed that made my wife decide that she wanted to leave me.  I was looking for happiness and I had all but decided that God was not a reality and my attitude had become “if it feels good, do it”.

It took a while for God to deliver me from these things which I call “lusts of the flesh”, but today, even at my age, I have the most satisfying and wonderful relationship with my wife than I ever have had at any time since our marriage, and we are naked before God and we don't have to hide and be ashamed, for our relationship is based on “love”.

I believe that if you are a Christian and have a problem with masterbation it is a fault that you do need to overcome.  We all have faults that we need to overcome, and the scriptures state that we should confess our faults one with another and pray for one another that we may be healed.  If you resist the temptation, and are overcome.  Keep resisting and asking for God's help to overcome the fault.  If you are not married, the scriptures states:

    Quote
    1 Corinthians 7:1-9
1 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. 2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. 3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. 4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. 5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. 6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment. 7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. 8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. 9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn(with passion).

    God Bless

    Hi Ken,

When I read your post – in my mind I was singing it! Andre Crouch has this song on his album from the 70's (when Christian music really put out some good stuff. I'm a huge Keith Green fan as well).

And Amen – Jesus is the Way! Oh, thank you, Jesus!

I thought I would add my exprience to this thread. masterbation is something I struggled with to but now I am happy to have overcome.
I would do it often when I was single and allways feel unclean. even after I was married. I wanted to stop. After our 'honeymoon' my wife exeprienced a decreased desire for me :( this is quite natral I know but I doesn't help a man to overcome these strong desires.
I would be tempted and often gave in but I had long ago given up pornogaghy so I tried to be faithful in my mind and only imagine making love to my one safe outlet.
But its like God said, its not good for man to be alone. I don't buy into any saying that m is ok. It essentially having sex with yourself! Its a selfish act and God so obviously does't want us to look after ourselves but others.
That is why he gave Adam a wife to 'help meet' his needs and vice versa. Over time I gained (or was given)the strength to overcome these urges. I also started to tell my wife about every time I fell into it. She was always disapointed but that was good because it gave me more incentive to press on for victory.
It is okto be stuggling with this God sees your heart, And doesn't not condem you because you are weak. But don't stop the struggle, persevere and you will have the victory.
I am still struggling in other areas but I have faith that in christ will win every battle.
If you are not married and struggle with m then you should seek to be married to a believer the only way to be clean in an unclean world is to have a safe outlet or become a monk/nun. :blues:

Well I am not 100% sure. But I have not seen anything in the bible were it states that masturbating is a sin. Be careful there are a lot of man made rules in religions.
