Hello Everybody,
I'm born again, if that means I have a new person inside.
That which is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
When you are born of the Spirit then you are a spirit being. Jesus said it is like the wind, you see the effects but cannot see the spirit being.
Jesus is the first fruit of the tree of life. The first human to change into a spirit being. Jesus had to receive the Holy Spirit and become just as we are: the beginning of spiritual birth (1Co 15:22-24).
If your wife were pregnant you could say she is carryiny my son. Even though we are of the Father we are not whole spirit being (Rom. 8:19-23)December 4, 2005 at 5:11 am#10708NickHassanParticipantHi kenrch,
I would say that, like Adam you have always been a spirit being since the breath of God was blown into you. For you cannot live without spirit.
Gen 2.7
“Then the Lord God …breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being”
Jas 2.26
“For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead”You have your own spirit, just as Jesus did, and you can be baptised in the Spirit of God, just as Jesus was.The Holy Spirit does not replace your spirit but teaches, guides and comforts us and can lead us in the ways of Jesus if we allow.
Lk 23.46
“..Father, into your hands I commit my spirit”
Rom 8.16
“The Spirit himself testifies WITH our spirit that we are children of God,..”Gal 5.25
” If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit..”December 4, 2005 at 9:26 pm#10710NickHassanParticipantHi kenrch,
If you have been reborn into Christ by water and the Spirit that is the first step. You have been clothed with Christ.
Gal 3.27
“For all of you who were baptised in to Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ”But that is only the easy part.
Now Christ must be born into us.
Gal 4.19
” My children, with whom I am in labor until Christ is formed in you-but I wish to be present with you now and to change my tone; for I am perplexed about you”We offer our bodies as a living sacrifice but the inner man is where the changes must be allowed by us to take place. We must feed on the Word of God hungriliy absorbing all truth from that source before all others.
Rom 12.1
“Therefore I urge you, brethren, your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transfoermed by the renewing of your mind, so that you will prove what the will of God is, that which is good, and acceptable and perfect”We must allow the Spirit to shine truth in us to expose our sinful ways and change us to be like Christ.
Eph 4.22
“..that is reference to your former way of life, you lay aside the old self which is corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth”We must walk in the Spirit[[Rom 8 1-17]

Nick,So all the Holy Spirit does is a clean up our already spirit?
You know the Mormans teach that we were “once spirits” and that this is a school that everyone goes too. The object of this school is to learn joy. The joy of the Lord. You can't know what is good unless you know what is evil.Same spirit, new spirit, it's all new to me. Paul speaks of the inner man. Behold all things are pasted away.
But yeah, I'll go along with that. Wait a minute. What of your soul, I thought that your spirit fuels your soul. The spirit returns to God and the flesh dies just like an animal.
But your soul goes to sleep until the resurrection. Why would God waste His time cleaning the force that fuels the soul. The main object of man's spirit is to fuel the soul. When God takes your spirit the flesh dies but the soul sleeps
is that correct?December 5, 2005 at 2:05 am#10712kenrchParticipantQuote (Nick Hassan @ Dec. 05 2005,15:26) Hi kenrch,

it's the soul that is the child of God and the spirit is the life.December 5, 2005 at 9:19 am#10717ProclaimerParticipantYes that seems correct to me. We have new life. A new spirit.
We have a body, soul, and spirit. The body rots in the ground but is raised a spiritual body. The departed soul (for a believer) is with the Lord. The spirit is that which gives life to the soul.
As with Adam, the LORD breathed into Adam's nostrils and he became a LIVING soul. I would imagine that it is this one breath that gives us all life, believers and non-believers, perhaps even animals. But to be born again or born from above is to receive a new spirit that is pure, in order that God who is Spirit can connect with us. We then become his temple that he lives in. We are also continually baptized in God's Spirit because our new spirit is not tainted with sin. This is how we know the will of God, for his will comes from his Spirit to ours. We only then need to comprehend that in our soul and mind. That is why it says that the Kingdom of God is within.
Luke 17:21
nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you.”Romans 8:16
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.2 Corinthians 5:8
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.1 Thessalonians 5:23
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.December 7, 2005 at 10:34 am#10720NickHassanParticipantQuote (kenrch @ Dec. 05 2005,01:52) Quote (Nick Hassan @ Dec. 04 2005,23:11) Hi kenrch,

Hi kenrch,
The Spirit does not doing the cleaning up. We do. The Holy Spirit is only poured into washed vessels. The light of that Spirit illuminates in us what is not Godly, and encourages us to be conformed instead to the ways of God as shown in the bible. When Joshua entered the promised land he and the Israelites had been given by God he found the land occupied. They had to clear it out and to taken charge of the land that had been given them.
Likewise we must be transformed by the renewing of our minds. If we abide in the Word and feed on it it will change us and we will be taught. Transformation means change.
f we are just here to justify the doctrines we have received from men we will never respond to that Spirit. We become unteachable and raise ourselves above the Spirit of God.

Hi kenrch,
No baptism in water is only part of the rebirth. It is a popular false teaching that the Spirit is received automatically at baptism. That partly explains why the power and grace of God is not much visible amongst His people.Read Acts especially 8 13-19 and you will see the importance of the laying on of hands by the apostles to receive the Spirit after baptism.
But the Spirit is also promised to be given directly to all who have joined themselves to Christ in Luke 11.13.
“Ask and it will be given to you”
Ask Him.

April 6, 2006 at 7:32 pm#12478sandraParticipant“For the Lord, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the Lord of Hosts, therefore take heed to your spirit, that you deal not treacherously.”
Always the reference is take heed to your spirit. But, we are told to love the Lord with all of our heart, mind, and soul.
But if your heart condemneth you, I am greater than your heart.
April 6, 2006 at 9:54 pm#12490malcolm ferrisParticipantThere is the outer man, the carnal or flesh man, which is motivated by the sin condition.
Then there is the inner man, the nature of Christ motivates this man, and he is the real you.
The outer man is linked to the flesh and so is dying by degrees.
The inner man is linked to the Spirit of God and is renewed daily.
The outer man needs natural food to keep the body alive.
The inner man lives not by natural bread but by the Word alone, and by every Word.
When we are born again I believe the soul is reborn, it therefore is disunited from the outer man and becomes a new creature.
This inner man has not yet the body that is fitting for it but must go through this life in the body that remains.
We are ultimately controlled by the life that enlivens our soul.
That is why we must strive to keep our body and its accompanying carnal nature in line with the Word of God, which our inner being is aligned to.
This is a continual battle so long as we remain in this flesh, yet greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world.
We are told to renew our minds daily, for it is in the mind that the real battle rages, the body merely echoes the outcome.
We are told to cast down reason, imagination, memory, conscience and affection when they exalt anything above the Word of God.
We must strive to reason with the Word,
to imagine nothing outside of what God has promised,
to use our memory to remember what we have learnt from the Word,
our conscience to guide us in the thing that is right,
and to set our affections on things above and not the passing treasures of this life. That's my 2 cents worth.
