Why is sex a sin? If god didn’t want us to do it, he wouldn’t have given us privates, or made it possible in any way. If humanity was sentenced to die out, then why create them in the first place? Another question is why must we remain pure in order to get into heaven? Why must we fight human nature? Once again, if god wanted a perfect race, wouldn’t he have created us perfectly? and if we are created in gods own image, then wouldn’t God have the same flaws that humanity has? Shouldn’t that be judged on our accomplishments rather than how pure we are? Call me ignorant, but I don’t understand some of the reasoning. Don’t get me wrong, I respect you all, but I’ve had some questions.
Thanks, and Peace.

February 1, 2004 at 2:54 am#4044MrBobParticipantWell, not all sex is sin. God made sex, and intended sex to be between one man and one woman:
4 "Haven’t you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’
5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’ ? – Mathew 19:4-5Homosexuality, porn, etc. are sins not because sex is bad, but rather because sex is God’s creation, it is good, and it must be done correctly.
The reason humanity, the world, etc. are messed up is because Adam ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Because he disobeyed God, he lost spirit, his "image of God", as well as his high position on Earth. He was second in command, and by disobeying God, he forfeited his power to the devil. So now the devil has control of the world and the rest of humanity inherited Adam’s sinful nature. That is why we must "resist" our nature:
16 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. – Galatians 5:16-18
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. – 1 Corinthians 15:22
And don’t be afraid to ask questions, it’s what strengthens the truth and exposes what is not true. If you still need more help post here again and/or visit here:
February 1, 2004 at 5:33 am#4048ProclaimerParticipantGood post MrBob,
I agree.
Sex, drugs and alcohol are from God and they are good.
It is not indulging that is sin, it is why you are indulging.E.g.
a) Sex with in marriage is good and is part of God's plan. He said to Adam and Eve, “be fruitful and multiply.”
b) Sex outside marriage leads to unwanted pregnancies and disease for a start.a) Drugs from natural plants can be used to dull pain and help the sick.
b) Drugs taken recreationally and regularly leads to imbalances in the body's ability to naturally produce it's own chemicals.a) Alcohol taken at a meal or in reasonable quantities is actually healthy and has medicinal properties.
b) Taken to access, leads to uncontrollable acts of stupidity even organ or brain damage. Now humans were created perfect in the beginning and in God's image, so if his image was perfect and good, then it stands to reason that God (the source) was/is perfect and good. It was the Devil and man's compliance with him that led to our nature's fall and sin is falling short of God's glory. So Jesus came to destroy the works of the Devil and restore man back to God. He gives us God's Spirit to lead us into all righteousness and strengthen us in times of weakness. We now have a choice. To either fulfill the lusts of the flesh or be lead by the Spirit. We have a fair choice and if we do fall, God will forgive us if we repent with godly sorrow.
So yes we are made in his image, we were made perfect. Now we have become corrupt, but God can save us, if we love him and want to be with him for eternity. God can restore us and clean us from all sin through Jesus Christ who took our sin upon himself and died for us. Jesus paid the penalty of death for us.

They answer your questions in greater depth.February 2, 2004 at 2:51 pm#4045RavenParticipantthat brings me to another question…
Why did God make that tree in the first place, and why were humans flawed in such a way that it was inevitable that they ate the fruit?
And wouldn’t going to heaven or #### be relative? If you worship one god that will send you to #### for doing something, but others worship a god that will send you to heaven for the same thing, how is it possible to know which is true?

February 2, 2004 at 8:37 pm#4049ProclaimerParticipantIt wasn't inevitiable that we ate of that fruit. It was put there to test man and we failed.
Why should there be a test in the first place?
It is because every son of God gets the chance to choose God. We have a choice because we are not a process or a robot, rather a thinking living being made in God's will. Like God, we have our own will and this will is what makes us free. If we had no free will we would be just robots, so everytime we said we loved God it wouldn't be real because we would always choose perfection with no other options available. Everytime we said to our wives or children that we loved them, it also wouldn't be true love. Now love is the greatest and God himself is love. So in order for true love to exist, there had to exist an option or choice. Now had man chosen to eat from the Tree of Life and not partake of the Tree of Good and Evil, then the earth would be a paradise today and there would be perfection, but with all choice there comes risk and man chose not to obey God and we went our own way knowing good and evil.
Anyway if we look at the Angels, it seems that they were all created perfected and then some of them sinned later and in doing so they seperated themselves from God. The same situation for man, we were also created perfect, but we chose otherwise.
But now all humans are born in sin and we have the choice to serve God. So there is a way back to God, the only way.
Either way, there is always a choice. Now if we choose God, then in the next life we will be with him always and we will never fall away. Most of the Angels didn't fall and they chose to stay with God and both humans and Angels who choose God when there is another choice (adversity)are called the Elect.
The Elect cannot fall away from God because they have made their choice. It's not as if we could mistakenly fall away later for example. We will remain with God for eternity because that is what we have chosen and we not only chose it, but we rejected adversity under provocation to choose sin. So in God's perfect Kingdom and with a perfect nature inside us, we will never sin again. So both the elect of God and the elect Angels remain forever.
So it seems that there is a 2 stage process or proof that must happen in order to exist and remain with God for eternity.
First of all we have to be created, that is made. Next we must choose God if we are to choose life, using our free will that he gave us.
God gives us this choice as perfection and love can only exist where there is choice and God is both love and perfect.
There is no pleasure in God creating a robot that obeys your every command. But if a being chooses you, then it demonstrates a willingness to be with you. A true decision that results in true love. Is this not true with your partner, girlfriend or boyfriend? If you brainwashed them to love you, there would be little pleasure in that compared to them choosing you over other options that they have.
Your other point about serving the wrong god and hence receiving either Heaven or hell is not quite that simple in my opinion.
The one true God shows us his truth by at least 3 ways. They are as follows:
1) Conscience (con=with & science=knowledge)
2) Law
3) Gospel message of grace with the leading of God's Spirit. So no matter where we are born, we all have a conscience and that conscience is the knowledge of right or wrong. Some people serve God with this alone.
Others know God's Law in letter, so they know what is in their conscience, in word and deed.
Finally we have the gospel message which is the good news about how God accepts us through Jesus Christ his Son who died and took our penalty for our sin and how we can be empowered by God's Spirit by receiving the birth from above.
So all men are without excuse and we can all live for God given the different amounts of revelation of God.
The scriptures teach plainly that there are 2 types of people and it is not Christian and Non-Christian. Rather the 2 types of people are righteous and wicked.
Read the following scripture to understand what I am saying.
Matthew 25:31-40
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory.
32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,
36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?
39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
40 “The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'So some people serve the true God through conscience alone, others have the assitance of the Law and many others know the gospel and accept it.
If one is born say in a part of the world dominated by a false religion (most of the world, even the West has a religion of money) such a person can know God through their conscience and I believe that some serve God more this way than others who know and have accepted the gospel.
But the gospel is the power that leads to salvation and it is a priviledge to hear this message of grace. This message must be preached to all the world before the end of this world is declared. It is the most important message of all.
Regardless of your God, (true God, money, false god) we all know truth when it is presented to us because it witnesses with our conscience and the conscience was put there by God. In addition to this, God's Spirit is convicting all men of sin, righteousness and judgement.
John 16:8
When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt [Or will expose the guilt of the world] in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment:So we have no excuse. We really are responsible for how we live our lives and will be judged by the things we have done and what we have said.
Some will receive wages for eternal life and others will lose their life.
