What is the orginal Hebrew or Greek for “I am” in the bible?
Shouldnt we refrain from stating statements in the orginal language instead of worrying about the english language.
ITs obvious that the phrase NOT TITLE “I am” is used in common language, in every day language.
If anything thats part of proper english.
So considering the original intent in hebrew and greek, shouldnt we refrain from the title than the every day language,
wouldnt that be too religious to fight against such an unimportant phrase.

1. American King James Version (AKJV) –
A modern language update of the original King James Version (KJV), which was translated from the Masoretic Text and the Textus Receptus. The purpose of this translation was to update and modernize the original KJV but preserve the KJV as much as possible. This translation was first published in 1999.Young’s Literal Translation (YLT) –
The Literal Translation is unusual in that, as the name implies, it is a strictly literal word-for-word translation of the Masoretic Text and the Textus Receptus (to the extent possible). Translation made by Robert Young and originally published in 1862, He published a revised version in 1887, with another revised version published after his death in 1898.http://www.bibletranslations.thebaptistpage.net/Bible_L….0anchor
Hi Karmarie,1) Well then they certainly 'blew it'!
Because italicized words are not in the Hebrew Masoretic Texts!Witnessing to the world in behalf of YHVH (Psalm 45:17)

Hi SF,There is NO such wording as that in the Hebrew.
That title 'i am'=23 is (Lucifer's) the FAKE=23 god of religion! The ego is the very thing that needs to be self crucified!

Hi Karmarie,I told you already, without the italics it is completely polluted!
They probably removed God's name from it as well,
making it totally useless to God's purposes!Witnessing to the world in behalf of YHVH (Psalm 45:17)

isn't there; putting it there corrupts the text!God bless

Karmarie,
look upI am that I am, in wikipedia
There is no such thing as Iam in hebrew.
but there is “I will be that i will be.”
what is the true meaning, i believe.
I translated it myself a few times and its correct. My point is that ed is speaking of the ego not the phrase.
I feel perfectly comfortable using the phrase because im not using it as a titlle nor to indicate a self-ego.
its normal to use such a phrase as it is used in english.

July 10, 2010 at 9:57 am#202877Tim KraftParticipantQuote (Gene Balthrop @ July 09 2010,08:02) ED J………Jesus is being displayed as a GOD, that is creating a MAN OF SIN, anyone Who thinks His Will is “FREE” is a GOD unto himself, “know you not that your (ARE) the temples of the living GOD”. But man takes his stand in this temple not as a son of GOD, but as A GOD Himself and this is very easily seen by his attachment to HIS (so-called) “FREE” WILL. In that kind of thinking Man has taken his position as a GOD unto himself. As long as a man abides this way He will abide alone He must first Die (to Self) and them live (WITH) GOD together in the temple God gives him with GOD. Free will ideology is the very (Adversary) or Satan to GOD and it is Man HIMSELF> Not some spook running around jumping in and out of People. IMO peace and love to you and yours………………………..gene
Gene: This is good. IMO, man creates his self from birth. He starts with a clear mind and builds his self on what he hears, tastes, smells, and thinks which become his beliefs.A man is somewhat structured from the avaliable information that surrounds him depending on where he was born. What information he accepts as his personal beliefs is the self he becomes. We are what we have chosen to believe we are!
When opportunity presents itself in life there comes a choice to accept that God is sharing a body with him and has given him total control as a King of his Kingdom, and Priest of his temple as ego/self of his body. Man is in charge with God along for the experiences in this physical world.
The idea of man dying to evoke God is really man allowing a changing of the guard, laying his own life/control down and allowing God/love to rule through him.
Man steping aside and saying not my will but yours lord God be done with this vessel. If man does not allow God to express his love through him then he will live in the darkness he creates. You say his will is influenced I say man makes the choice. I can't tell so it really doesn't matter. God bless you,

Thats true, Ed what about Greek?
July 10, 2010 at 10:07 am#202879Tim KraftParticipantTo all: I don't know about the Hebrew translation for I' am but in the Garden when the soldiers came to take Jesus they ask him if he was Jesus and he said “I AM”! The italic “he” was put in by the translators. Jesus said he was, “I AM”! There was enough power in his reply to knock them all to the ground. Bless you, TK

Hi Karmarie,Hebrew has NO SUCH CONSTRUCT.
Lucifer is ‘the problem’ that has coerced the AKJV translators to perpetuate
a name-distancing title-substitution, ‘the mother of all deceptions’. Current
divisions of the church trace back to ‘the incorrect’ English translation of
[אהיה אשר אהיה] ěhyäh ăsher ěhyäh. Although the King James transcribers
translated this phrase into ‘I AM THAT I AM’, it is the Greek where this
erroneous phraseology originates. The Septuagint Bible is the first to
use this ‘I AM’ phraseology as {εγω ειμι} in Exodus 3:14. The AKJV
correctly translated [“אהיה”] into English as [“I WILL”] hundreds of times.[εγω ειμι] 'ego eimi' is translated from the Greek into English as 'i am'.
God bless

http://www.holycitybiblecode.orgJuly 10, 2010 at 11:28 am#202888JustAskinParticipantThis is all truly amazing recyclable earthy flesh based argument from truly ignorant minds.
What is wrong with you guys.
What goes on in your unrighteous minds?
Why is simple Sriptures so hard for you to understand.
Too much 'Internet' reasearch is fueling your ungodly imaginations.
You are seeking your own glory, trying to 'be the one who reveals truth' but you do not know what Truth is.
What is the issue with 'Lucifer'…it is Evidently Not the name of the angel that became Satan. It is a metaphorical name that we have given him for our own convenience of requiring to name things and persons. Nothing more.
Likewise, what is the problem with 'I AM', 'I Will be', etc.,?
what is the Hebrew used in the verse?
Please state it in a one line response.
“Straining at a gnat”… So, everytime someone says, 'I am', it means they are saying they are 'God'?
Everytime someone says, 'I will be', they are saying that they are 'God'?
Everytime someone say, 'I Am', it means they are saying that they are 'Lucifer/Satan'?Man from man, where are you coming from. And where are you going?
You know neither.
And if you don't know where you are coming from, how can you know where you are going to?
What are you hoping to achieve by your thought strategy? Your own glory?
What is your background.I will tell you.
You are angry, deep down and upwards. You are despised of your relations. You seek solace in eschewing spiritual reality in a 'safe house', the global 'alehouse/bar/pub' where men go to seek pity from from similarly despised persons after they have been browbeaten by their wives and girlfriends.
Weakwilled men who hide behind phylosophical debating, never actually hoping to find Truth, but simply to relish in the 'Debate'.
Who would believe Truth if they heard it?
Yet, truth is even so spoken in this forum. Yet, as many as hear it today, forget it tomorrow.
Shallow soil, poor roots, hot heat, withered shoots.
Seek, first, the Lord of Heaven, YHVH, and he will direct your steps towards his righteous revelation through his glorified Son and Priest, our King, Lord, and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
July 10, 2010 at 11:39 am#202890karmarieParticipantI agree Ja, theres other topics, and I dont get this one.
Ed, PLEASE listen to what I said, a few pages back.
July 10, 2010 at 11:43 am#202892karmarieParticipantOh sorry Ed it was what I said on another thread.
Ed,
The scripture is there for us to grow in understanding. God reveals what he will when he will. To read it for years, to perhaps not be satisfied with it, to ask for 'a sign' as you said you did, Jesus said an evil generation looks for a sign but no sign is given but that of Jonah. “For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly, so shall the son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth”. Jonah was 'spat out', he then did as God had asked, he went to the people of Ninevah – and preached to them. Jesus left a legacy to be preached and that has happened. – But know this, that in the last days men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – we are in the last days, Ed, the sign that you need isnt hidden in scripture, its what is obviously there, nothing else needs to be found but God, his son, ourselves, and others 'That they may know thee the only true God and Jesus who though sent'
To love the Lord our God with all our hearts and mind and souls and our neighbour as ourself.
Yes, it says – narrow is the path few are those finding it – but to be 'pefected in love' as the scripture says you truely know God. And what God truely loves will not be forgotten.
