    Hi KW,

Those who have drunk from the fountain of life are able to disperse the waters of life.

    T8,
I am not even sure most people understand what Jesus meant when he said God is Spirit since it is written is Love and Love is a spirit. Love is the spirit we are to worship God in for the sum of the Law is love. In short God is love and we are to worship him in love and truth.
    God is not a ghost.

He is not the Holy Ghost?

God is spirit. The LORD is the spirit. Spirit is invisible. God is invisible. Spirit can live inside us and creation. God can be in us. God was in Christ.

    Yes – how about you..??

“To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with Me on My throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with My Father on His throne.” (Rev 3:21)

    Here we see TWO thrones..

and so you use this to bring in your anti-trinity confusion..

but if you take the time to look at this verse you quote, we again see the distinction between our oneness with Christ as branches – and His oneness with the Father as God..

Jesus is given a throne – He will rule the nations, and those who are His will be given positions of authority in His kingdom..

But the fact that Christ sat down with the Father on HIS THRONE should show you clearly His Own authority with God – as God..!!!

HOW can the Son sit with the Father on HIS THRONE – AND NOT BE GOD…!!!???!!!

really you’ve got to be a theological contortionist to deny the Deity of the Son…!!!

If Jesus is sitting on the throne with the Father and Jesus tells those who overcome they will sit with Jesus on his throne, the first question is how many thrones is Jesus sitting on? secondly if there sitting with Jesus and Jesus is sitting with the Father then they’re all on the same throne…are they all now qualified to be god?

This is the same circle as I and my father are one and you and I are one, that would make us all one so we would be whatever the person claiming to be one with the Father.

So this must have a different meaning in regards to “throne” it would seem to mean to sit in a status, securely or solidly fixed in place such as when God says Hebrews 7:17 For it is borne witness, *Thou* art a priest for ever according to the order of Melchisedec.

    In other words
    Romans 11:29Darby Translation (DARBY)

29 For the gifts and the calling of God [are] not subject to repentance.

So Jesus said to the one “victorious” because he also overcame the world and earned the Throne i.e. the fixed irrevocable place “high priest forever”
likewise those who overcome will be in that same order of Melchezidec

Hebrews 7:3 without father, without mother, without genealogy; having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but assimilated to the Son of God, abides a priest continually.

In other words born of Spirit.

So Jesus is saying those who are born again by Spirit and overcome they will also have his status which is to also dwell in the abode of God, this does not make anyone God because God’s throne or place is not HIM, it is like being invited to the white house and sit in the oval office, this would not make you president but it would demonstrate your rank as being very close to the president

    Hi BD,

..but too bad you believe in the false prophet’s lie, believing in him rather than in God

“And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee,
and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy
thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God
    .” (Luke 1:35)

    CALLED the “Son of God”

Dost thou believe on the Son of God? He answered and said, Who is he, Lord,
that I might believe on him? And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is
he that talketh with thee. And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.” (John 9:35-38)

    Hi BD,

He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself:
he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because
he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

    Hi BD,

Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists?
who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth?
what is his name, and what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell?

    What is His Name? …YHVH!
and what is his son’s name? …Jesus!

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” (Prov 30:4-6)

The pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, is “God’s Word”! (ref. Rev 22:1)

“That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle,
or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. (Ephesians 5:26-27)

God is all present so he is present in each and every one of his creations but only those that have the Spirit have the ability to love as he does.

He can be one with us when his spirit is in us. Our spirits bear witness when his spirit is in us.

Yes, and that is Jesus point when he said God is spirit not that he is composed of Spirit.

God has the attribute of Spirit and at this time his people worship him in Spirit and in truth.

That is what those that live by the Spirit do.

So you are saying that spirit is not the essence of God.

    Are angels spirits?

Did you know that God is the father of spirits.

Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live!

Is God the Father of unity or all the spirits that reside inside living beings? (Ignore wicked spirits as that is another topic).

    t8,

Angels are not composed of spirit as those that are composed of spirit cannot eat or be touched and Scripture testified of angels of both being touched and eating. Demons are spirits as are ghosts and neither is said to be touched or to have eaten in Scripture.

The word spirit can me applied to spirits in the sense they personalize the spirit of ministering and that angel messengers are swift as the wind.

The teaching that angels are composed of spirit snuck into the church from the Gnostics and gains support from certain passages that can be misunderstood in such a way to support it.

The bottom line is do you believe those interpretations or do you believe Jesus proposed true tests that revealed he was not a spirit when he challenged his students to touch him and give him food that he ate in front of them. If you believe Jesus proposed Jesus proposed true tests then you also know that angels are not spirits as they have also been testified to have eaten and been touched by humans.

    t8,

Hebrews 12:9 contrasts father of flesh to father of spirits. The use of plural spirit leads me to believe he is speaking of human spirit especially considering the subject is fruit.

I believe the human spirit is born again of the Spirit. It is the born again spirit God is shown to be the father of.

    Nick,

I use words from John 3:3 and John 3:6.

Don’t you believe all humans have a human spirit and that the spirit of believers testify with the Spirit that they are children of God? (Romans 8:16)

    Hi KW,

The spirit of man is with the Spirit of God till physical death in believers.

but it is not born again.

Angels might have the ability to assume both corporeal and non corporeal forms. Really the scriptures do not teach that much about angels.

We know that angels take on human form or at least look like us, but then like Jesus who was transfigured, they also appear in a glorious form where men are tempted to worship them.

    Hebrews 1:7&13
And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Kerwin holds the view that spirit is not an essence or nature by the sound of it. But what is the nature of God then? If man is flesh, then what is God?

    T8,

    Hebrews 1:7&13
And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

This is a poor though common translation as both messengers and servants are angels.

Hebrews 1:7 GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

7 God said about the angels,

    “He makes his messengers winds.
He makes his servants flames of fire.”

God makes his messengers swift and his servants zealous.

Some Jews teach angel messengers are created from air and angel servants from fire but what I wrote fits the context better.
