The image of God

Image of God

If my son is the spitting image of me, then no one is going to think my son is me right?

Why is it that the one who is called image of God, who is the son of God, and the firstborn of all creation, is considered God as well?

Surely being the image of God means you are another, but like God right?

Man was made in the image of God and no one should think based on this, that man is a manufactured God. Rather, we are considered children of God and sons of God at best and so it is with Jesus, who is the image of God and the son of God.

Jesus is the one that God made both Lord and Christ. Why is that not enough to believe as to who Jesus is. Why do we need the additional third century doctrine of the Trinity too? This Trinity Doctrine is really a contradiction of him being the image, son, and the one that God made Lord and Christ.

“..the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

He existed as the image of God – He existed as God.

He is another (the Son) – He is the same (I and the Father are One)

Why do we need the additional third century doctrine of the Trinity too

Let go of your obsession with third century doctrine and believe what Scripture says..

Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

Believe what the scriptures say DavidL The Father is greater than Jesus and Jesus includes himself with those who worship the one greater than Jesus
remember the Jews no what they Worship and guess what NONE of them worship Jesus, so they Worship God and not Jesus but Jesus testifies they KNOW and you do not if you worship other than what they worship

DavidL and whomever else is interested,

The only definition I can find in Scripture for the clause image of God is to me like in true righteousness and holiness.

    Colossians 3:10
and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,

Ephesians 4:24New King James Version (NKJV)

24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

    Hi KW,

The difference is that you cannot attain to it by striving works and self effort.

The robe of righteousness of Jesus Christ is able to be put on when you obey and let God.

Our deceptive minds tell us that we can save ourselves but those who want to save their own life will lose it.

    Nick,

Many people understand it takes faith to overcome sins though they put their faith in false Gods and so they do not overcome all their sins.

God may allow them to overcome some in order to test their hearts.

    Hi KW,

Your obsession with sin relates to your Jewish religion?

God forgives all who obey and enter the kingdom

We have a saviour who advocates for us.

    Nick,

A starving man is obsessed with food so why do you think a man that hungers and thirsts for righteousness is not obsessed with sin.

Ii is extremely important to learn how to live by the Spirit and even more important to do so.

    Nick,

Both advocates are teachers and they advocate by teaching us to bear fruit.

    Hi KW,

If you have not come through the gate of salvation then sin is the big issue.

    Righteousness is not sinlessness.

The Faith of Abraham was attributed to him as righteousness.

Joshua had his filthy rags replaced with festal garments[zech3]

    Hi KW,

It is natural for a grapevine to produce grapes.

The striving of branches is uselessness.

    Nick,

The Faith of Abraham was attributed to him as righteousness.

He did not have as it was “attributed” to him but now something greater than he had. That is why he looked forward to the time of Christ. We are in that time. We can now obtain what he hoped for.

Don’t you remember that Jesus told us that John the Baptist was greater than Abraham and yet he was not as great as the least in the kingdom of heaven?

Luke 13:24New King James Version (NKJV)

24 “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.

You sound like you disagree with Jesus’ instructions in this passages. Are you being affected by teachings that are based on human principles.

What’s funny is the actual image you use of Jesus, the image itself is false and is the image of a Pope’s son

Does the image in the picture look familiar? April Fool! This is not a Renaissance painting of the Christ. On the contrary, it is that of the Renaissance man; Cesare Borgia. There is a striking resemblance but they are not one in the same. Then again, that depends on how you look at it! Have you ever wondered whose image was used in (or influenced) all the European paintings, sculptures and carvings of Jesus? In artwork produced more than one-thousand years after the Messiah roamed the earth? And I know there are those who have always wondered why everyone in the Bible, especially the Messiah, is white.
The person in the picture is not the Son of God. Howbeit, this is what has been widely accepted without historical evidence. He was actually the Son of the Pope – to some he has been falsely shown as God’s earthly representative; at least to the Roman Catholic Church! To be more specific, Cesare Borgia
was the illegitimate son of Alexander VI.. Contrary to popular belief, once upon a time the Papacy was allowed to have sex … and get married … but not necessarily in that order.

    Here is the truth:

    The real image

The more you know the more you grow, this is why no images of prophets should be allowed, you steal the image you use it to deceive as the Europeans have done and it does matter because when you look at prophecy through the wrong lens you get it wrong everytime

    Hi KW,

    Hi KW,

    You say

“”Don’t you remember that Jesus told us that John the Baptist was greater than Abraham and yet he was not as great as the least in the kingdom of heaven?”

No. he said he was more than a prophet and there was no man born of woman who was greater than him.

But Abraham did not get a specific mention did he?

The prophets had the Spirit of Christ but in some way those in Christ are advantaged.

Do you think that this means those that those who try hardest to save themselves are better off?

I think it means unload your camel of all your rubbish-your trust in works and religious nonsense- and rely only on the saviour.

    Nick,

You are calling the fruits of the Spirit works and so you are in disagreement with Scripture.

Jesus told us by their fruits you will you know them.

Those whose fruits are of the Spirit and revealed to be the children of God

Those whose fruits are of the flesh are revealed to be the children of Satan.

It clear to see that Jesus is teaching us to strive hard to bear the fruits of the Spirit.

We are taught to put off the old self that lives by the flesh and so manifests its fruit and put on the new man that manifests the fruits of the Spirit. Jesus teaches us to strive hard to do so.

Ephesians 4:22-24New King James Version (NKJV)

22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

The Spirit is not given usually till you have entered through repentance and water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ

    Bodhitharta,

The command to live by the Spirit is not given anywhere in the Old Testament but instead it testifies of a time when the Law will be written on the herarts and put within the people of God.
