God hands over some of his power to individuals. It is called free will. Without free will, there can be no love as love is a choice. If you are programmed to love, then that is not love, it is a program. However, with free will there there is risk. The risk of rebellion. But a rebellion that will only happen once. Why? Because this rebellious world shows all of creation now and into the future, the terrible fruit that comes from rebellion and sin. No other eon or age will bother to choose to go against God’s will because they can see it leads to suffering and death. They can clearly see that created beings are incompetent compared with the eternal God who is pure love and how foolish it is to reject God. It’s like an electrical appliance choosing to be unplugged. What age would want to commit suicide by cutting itself off from the source of life and love.. Rebellious angels perhaps thought they could be gods and life would be wonderful as they could do whatever their imaginations dreamed up. But they soon found their light dimmed and love faded because they disconnected themselves from the source. They eventually became consumed in the lack of God who is love and life which equates to hate and death. God knew rebellion would happen eventually, so he let it take it’s course when the first being sinned. He allowed it in order to teach creation the end result of rebelling against him and his wisdom. This is why it is written that God crafted a plan of salvation even before the foundation of the cosmos. He knew full well that it would happen at some point then let it play out so wisdom and knowledge would be revealed with the obvious conclusion being that God is right and God is good and without God we have no hope. God’s plan of salvation from sin was determined and decreed before man was even created. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love. Another thing to consider is that even the Son of God learned obedience by living in this world. The experience of living in this world has its rewards that no other world could give. When we have suffered, we gain character and wisdom that is rare and perhaps worthy of pertaining for sons of God. During the days of Jesus’ earthly life, He offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the One who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence. Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from what He suffered. And having been made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and … Continue reading Why free will is essential
