Upon this rock, Jesus Christ built his Church

Balancing Rock Girraween

For many Christian denominations, the foundation of their faith is usually a version of the Trinity Doctrine in some form. But is this doctrine really the true foundation of the Church? Let’s take a look at the actual foundation that Jesus Christ built his Church on.

Matthew 16:13-18
13 Jesus came into the country of Caesarea Philippi. He asked His followers, “Who do people say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
14 They said, “Some say You are John the Baptist and some say Elijah and others say Jeremiah or one of the early preachers.”

15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
16 Simon Peter said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 Jesus said to him, “Simon, son of Jonah, you are happy because you did not learn this from man. My Father in heaven has shown you this.
18 “And I tell you that you are Peter. On this rock I will build My church. The powers of hell will not be able to have power over My church.

Read the above clearly. Jesus did not build his Church on Peter. He built it on the truth that Peter spoke concerning the true identity of Jesus Christ. And what was that truth? That Jesus is the Son of God and the Christ.

Peter did not say that Jesus was God or one member of a triune God, yet that is the foundation for many. So what is it that tries to fight against the true foundation? Is it not the Gates of Hell that is trying to prevail against this truth. But for what benefit is there to attack the true foundation of the Church, which is the Body of Christ?

Here is the thing. Roman Catholics believe that the foundation was Peter and this is where their line of Popes supposedly comes from. They also believe that the foundation of their faith is the Trinity Doctrine. Not only are they wrong, but their fruit over the centuries proves that this tree was not good.

So which is it? The Catholic faith or the true faith?

Many do not realise that they side with the Catholic faith. However, it is true that this faith and foundation cannot sustain eternally any work built upon her.

For they labour in vain those who build on another foundation.

Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 8:6: for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.

He also wrote in Ephesians 4:5-6: one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

And Jesus said it so clearly in John 17:3: Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

Are you willing to believe the truth about who God is and who Jesus is over any contrary tradition that was passed down to you?

    You’re flogging a dead horse t8..

Everyone knows that Jesus is the Son of the Living God…

Problem is you deny the revelation of His Deity – which, like Peter, we have of the Spirit..

While you continue to rely on doctrine and the teaching of men to blindly deny this simple and yet profound reality of Jesus Christ as presented to us in the whole (not just selected verses) of Scripture.

    Hi davidl,

Did Peter say Jesus is God as you do?

    We must have missed it

    Hi davidl,

So you tell us Peter was wrong but you have it right?

    Do you have greater credibility?

Yes Nick, we both missed the part where Peter said that Jesus was God.

DavidL, kindly point it out to us.

Everyone knows that Jesus is the Son of the Living God…

Okay, so if he is God, then he is the son of himself?

Or is he the son of the other god?

    Or what?

    DavidL,

Everyone knows that Jesus is the Son of the Living God…

Jesus is born of the Spirit of God and not of the body or essence or whatever ungodly teaching man invents.

Jesus is born under the Law and of the Seed of David as far as his body is concerned.

Non-Spiritual humans clothed the imperial cult in Christian clothes in order to deceive many; a true wolf in sheep’s clothing.

    t8,

I find the teaching that Peter is the first pope as absurd since if anyone would have had that title it would be James, since Scripture paints him as one in authority. Peter is always show as one among equals. James was most likely the same but the hints at his authority stem from the position in the conversation he served at the time Scripture speaks of him.

Yes, you miss a lot when you rely on your own understanding

True faith is based on the revelation of Jesus Christ

not the dead doctrines of uninspired men – which you promote.

Everyone who is born of the Spirit knows and acknowledges the true Deity of Jesus Christ

Yet, like the Pharisees of old, you resist the work and revelation of the Spirit

Choosing instead to cling to your own unenlightened notions

    Hi davidl,

Then why do you not rely on revelation?

You ADD in the fabrications of men

    DavidL,

You say follow a cult teaching and yet yours is the imperial cult teaching of Rome wearing the clothing of the gospel.

Do you believe the Roman’s had the truth and their emperors were symbols of the Christ to come while the Jew were misled?

True faith is based on the revelation of Jesus Christ

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven”.

Okay I believe that and thus because I believe it with all my heart and mind, then is that not what the Father wants.

What do I lack according to you? Submission to a third century doctrine?

Who is the one relying on the teaching of men as you say?

While you continue to rely on doctrine…

DavidL. Are you aware how important doctrine is?

And you advocate relying on a man-made third-century doctrine instead?

    I think not.

    2 John 1:9
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

lies – because, like all cult teaching, you twist Scripture to promote your own false ideas..

So how is this clear passage of scripture twisted? We take it at face value. To see it as the Trinity or to not contradict the Trinity requires much twisting.

Jesus said: “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent“.

Either believe what he said, ignore it, or twist it.

I have chosen to believe it. You by reason of your opposition to the idea reject it and do so publicly before men.

You try to project your own problems on to us. Look to yourself first. You cannot sort anything out if your own house is not in order.

    t8,

I find it beyond coincidences that a relatively new teaching supported by the Roman Empire comes out of Rome that resembles the imperial cult with a being they call Jesus Christ as the Emperor and God. They stuck with the idea that there is but in God though the imperial cult fits poorly into that teaching as it was originally a polytheistic teaching. It was literally sticking a square peg in a round hole and then blinding yourself to why it fits poorly.

Is it eternal life to know both the only true God and the Son of God, that this only true God sent?

    Is that a fabrication?

Or is it that the three co-equal persons as the same God a fabrication?

In the least, one of these options is a fabrication.

I do not think Jesus own words were a fabrication, so you know which I believe is the fabrication.

You obviously are against Christ’s own words, but his sheep should hear his voice.

I am not worried if millions are against me or I oppose their view, but I would be worried if  Jesus Christ was against me or I was against what he taught.

    Hi David:

T8 has quoted many scriptures showing you that the “Trinity doctrine” is not scriptural, but if scripture will not convince you of your error then I doubt if I quoted others it would make any difference, since you like most Trinitarians are never going to admit that they have misunderstood the scriptures, but I have noticed that you never quote scriptures when you insist that you are right and that we who do not believe that doctrine are in error, and so, if you want to convince me that the “Trinity doctrine” is an orthodox doctrine, please quote the scriptures to support your allegation.  If I have misunderstood the scriptures, I want to be corrected.  I do not want to teach anything that God did not say.

When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness by the devil, he replied with:

“It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God”

And so, if it is not written, God did not say it, and if He did not say it I for one will never believe any doctrine that is not supported by scripture.

    Love in Christ,
    Marty
