Could the war mentioned in Ezekiel 38 & 39 be coming to pass before our very eyes. The book of Ezekiel and in particular chapters 38 and 39 talks about a war where a northern nation along with a coalition, attack Israel and in return suffer a heavy defeat. It seems what is happening on the world stage with Russia and Iran is starting to look like the beginning of events as described in the prophecy, at least according to one popular interpretation of this prophecy. For decades now, many prophetic teachers have taught that Ezekiel is talking of Russia in coalition with Iran and other nations attacking Israel in the last days. Let’s look at an evaluation of today’s situation then read segments of the prophecy to see if they could be connected. Many also say there are problems with this interpretation such as the verse that mentions Israel dwelling safely and “without walls.” Yet, when we visit today, there is a 430-mile-long wall 25 feet high defensive wall. Further, it says the motivation for the attack is to take spoil, whereas if such an attack were to take place, it would most likely be to wipe Israel off the map. Although, if that were to happen, there would certainly be a big spoil to be had. I offer no conclusion only thought and debate, but hope some will discuss this subject to better understand this prophecy. Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: In that day, when my people Israel are living in safety, will you not take notice of it? You will come from your place in the far north, you and many nations with you, all of them riding on horses, a great horde, a mighty army. You will advance against my people Israel like a cloud that covers the land. In days to come, Gog, I will bring you against my land, so that the nations may know me when I am proved holy through you before their eyes. This is what will happen in that day: When Gog attacks the land of Israel, my hot anger will be aroused, declares the Sovereign Lord. In my zeal and fiery wrath I declare that at that time there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. The fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the beasts of the field, every creature that moves along the ground, and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence. The mountains will be overturned, the cliffs will crumble and every wall will fall to the ground. I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains, declares the Sovereign Lord. Every man’s sword will be against his brother. 22 I will execute … Continue reading Ezekiel 38 & 39
