    Hi T,
God does nothing with our spirit except accepting it back at our death.
Salvation of the soul by cleansing and indwelling it by His Spirit that is the plan of God.

    nick

no ,i do not think so that God take s it back ,in a way ,

wen we have done with our spirit or soul what we wanted to do ,then God send us were we should belong to go,

look what happen to the rich man and lazarus.

i have shown you, that the word SPIRIT does not always means soul,

and it as to be understood in the context.
But our spirit returns to God[ecc 12]that were God his ,everywhere even in our appointing location.

The soul is not the spirit[Heb4
Heb 4:12 The word of God is living and active. It is sharper than any sword that has two edges. It cuts deep enough to separate soul from spirit. It can separate joints from bones. It judges the thoughts and purposes of the heart.

here the spirit means what we have accomplishing and what we are doing with our soul,
but at the end the soul and our spirit become one and wen the flesh dies the soul remains ,without flesh but with all our works either good or bad.

    Hi T,
God is in heaven-that is where Jesus told us to pray to Him[Mt6]
The spirit does not mean anything to do with our useless accomplishments.
It is the gift of life given to Adam and passed on to us.[Gen2.7] Without it we are dead[Jas2]

    you got that totaly wrong;

why would God sacrifice his son so that men can be saved?
    God love the righteous man.
and cornelius whos deeds were so good and many that he received the Holy spirit directly from God.

God is in heaven-that is where Jesus told us to pray to Him[Mt6]NO HE SAYS OUR HEAVELY FATHER, but we know that God is not far from any of us.

The spirit does not mean anything to do with our useless accomplishments;wrong again nick,

God love us and want everyone to be saved and come to know his will and apply it so he can save that man,
God love his own action so wen men does do good and godly deeds God love the actions of that man,and the works of that man are not useless.

    Hi T,
Yes the same invitation given by Peter still stands.
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but shall have eternal life.

    The Son said
” You must be born again”

The world does not listen to him

    Hi,
    Rom8
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

    Number 4151
    Transliteration:
    pneuma {pnyoo'-mah}
    Word Origin:
    from 4154
    TDNT:
    6:332,876
    Part of Speech:
    noun neuter
    Usage in the KJV:
Spirit 111, Holy Ghost 89, Spirit (of God) 13, Spirit (of the Lord) 5, (My) Spirit 3, Spirit (of truth) 3, Spirit (of Christ) 2, human (spirit) 49, (evil) spirit 47, spirit (general) 26, spirit 8, (Jesus' own) spirit 6, (Jesus' own) ghost 2, misc 21

    Total: 385
    Definition:
a movement of air (a gentle blast
of the wind, hence the wind itself
    breath of nostrils or mouth
the spirit, i.e. the vital principal by which the body is animated
the rational spirit, the power by which the human being feels, thinks, decides
    THE SOUL
a spirit, i.e. a simple essence, devoid of all or at least all grosser matter, and possessed of the power of knowing, desiring, deciding, and acting
    a life giving spirit
a human soul that has left the body
a spirit higher than man but lower than God, i.e. an angel
used of demons, or evil spirits, who were conceived as inhabiting the bodies of men
the spiritual nature of Christ, higher than the highest angels and equal to God, the divine nature of Christ
    of God
God's power and agency distinguishable in thought from his essence in itself considered
manifest in the course of affairs
by its influence upon the souls productive in the theocratic body (the church) of all the higher spiritual gifts and blessings
the third person of the trinity, the God the Holy Spirit
the disposition or influence which fills and governs the soul of any one
the efficient source of any power, affection, emotion, desire, etc.

ECCL tells of the nature and fate of the human spirit.

    Ecclesiastes 8:8
There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.
    Ecclesiastes 11:5
As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.
    Ecclesiastes 12:7
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

But Scripture tells us man is body, soul and spirit and that there is a diviosion between soul and spirit.

    1 Thessalonians 5:23
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

We should then try to find those verses where it is written SPIRIT but means SOUL.
Who would like to offer some?

    Hi Nick,

Spirit = nephesh (noun, fem) (man's) Gen 2:7

Spirit = ruach (noun, fem)(God's) Gen 1:2 ….the spirit of God

Funny how Greek makes it neuter and Hebrew makes it feminine….which is correct?

    David,

So you are revealing your 'sound byte'

You are of the 'feminine persuation'

You see the lacking of female parts in the Bible and feel you need to reAdress the 'imbalance'.

Wow, you love yourself, in your attempt to do that.

Satan, indeed, has taken over his earth kingdom and certainly knows his own.

    Hi DBF,
Knowing about God and His son is not very helpful.
Knowing them and them knowing you has everlasting benefits.
BTW on the behalf of the site I apologise for how JA has spoken to you here

Nick………Why can't you understand a Soul (IS) a BODY with SPIRIT (IN) it. Adam did not become a living SOUL untioll He recieved the Spirit of GOD (IN) Him then He became a LIVING SOUL. Not before that. Jesus plainly GOD could destory Us by leaving our Bodies in the GRAVE. Remember He said GOD could destory (BOTH) two things in the GRAVE. WE know when a man dies his spirit go back to God who gave it, the only thing left is the Body and it goes into the graves and corrupts or parishes, that is it , unless we recieve a new body and God adds Spirit into it. The idea that a soul keeps living after death is a pagan ideology , scripture says the dead know nothing their thoughts Parish in the day they die , that is it for ever, unless Gdd resurrects a new body and add spirit back into it. A resurrection of a Body is crucial to salvation Jesus and all the apostles understood that a resurrection was absolutely necessary for us to continue to live.

peace and love to you and yours brother…………………………gene

    Gene,

You are mentally blocking yourself from hearing the word “living”.

A body plus the breath of life equals a living body, a living individual, or a living soul.

Unlike what you are claiming we do not stop existing because our body dies though Adam did not exist before he became a living soul.  We also did not exist before we became a living soul when we were conceived in our mother's womb.
