On January 15 either the Houston Texans, Denver Broncos or the Pittsburgh Steelers will be the supper of the Ravens.

Since the Cardinals are out of it, I will be rooting for the Ravens. They are my son's favorite team.

Cool looking boots. How much does she charge for one pair? We had a lady at church who makes Ravens purses make one for our 22 year old daughter. She would love a pair of Ravens boots too.

    Hi BD,

That was a serious question, sorry if you took it as something else. :(

    ED,

You can't even keep a sports thread on topic without stirring the pot.

Okay so the Houston Texans will be the first course in the progressive meal.

The Steelers are out of it.

What a close, exciting game that was! I've always liked Ben, and half felt sorry for him yesterday (although I was rooting on the Broncos). But he needs to recover from that ankle injury before something really bad happens anyway. So maybe it was a blessing in disguise for him.

Yeah! The Broncos did it with just one pass in ot. My prediction is Ravens over Texans 24-7.

    Okay, I'll guess Ravens 24, Texans 17.

In deference to the origins of this website, I'll remind people that the national religion of New Zealand is rugby union, and its adherents still look somewhat sideways at rugby union players who wear padding. As for helmets, or TV breaks dictated by the networks, or throwing the ball in the direction of the goal, these are intolerable blasphemies.

    Our gods look like this:

Note the lack of histrionic ball bouncing on scoring.

I agree about the excessive celebration part.  These clowns today don't even have to score to celebrate.  They dance around like they're God's gift to the game just for doing what they're paid millions to do – like tackling the dude with the ball.

But I'm glad America is advanced enough to know this is a sport that certain people do for a small part of their life.  I'm glad we take life-long repercussions of injuries on the field seriously, and offer them protective equipment to lesson the possibility of serious injuries like concussions.

Maybe someday your country will become that advanced.  :)

    My picks for this weekend:

    Ravens over Texans

    Pats over Broncos

    Saints over Niners

Packers (by a hair) over Giants
